*sigh* Have I moaned at all mate? I've been respectful of the fact you won and haven't moaned at all. I've expressed my opinion.

 

Clearly some of you just don't like Stoke fans and no matter how we conduct ourselves, you'll always have it in for us.

 

You've conducted yourself very well on here. Yes, there are some proper muppets over on oatcake, but there's a lot of reasonable people over there too. To be quite frank, I doubt the percentage is any different to whatever we have over here. For some reason, people get all uppity when Stoke call our team shit, but they're happy to do the same themselves.

 

Then again, I have a soft spot for Stoke.

I'm sorry pal but you came on here lecturing about the goobers on the oatcake, you can't turn round and take it to heart when you find similar here.

It's the internet, there's morons everywhere.

Foxes Talk isn't representative of all city fans as the oatcake isn't of all stoke fans. You like to tell us there's some oh so alien wind up culture on the oatcake, do you not think maybe that's pretty common on all football boards and that maybe we're used to it? Because maybe there's a lot here?

If you want to contribute then contribute, we've had hundreds of away fans over the years, you're nothing unique. Just relax and do it for the enjoyment and save us the preaching, the high horse and the inevitable flouncing, yeah?

StokeFan - you say you are being measured and fair minded but essentially you reek of someone who thinks you have been robbed and your comments about us are dripping with faint praise ie we tore you apart but you won so that's all that matters. You did not tear us apart. You had only 3 really good chances all game, 2 of those at the death. In the second half we looked far more incisive around the box than you and actually got behind your defence which you failed to manage all game despite all your possession. I would have expected you to dominate possession when you have an extra man in midfield and against our reserve midfield in the first half. But you did very little with that possession in my view. And the second half, when we changed shape and got on what is nearly our first choice midfield the game was pretty even after the first few minutes.

We did the double over them that season(4-1 at the Hawthorns if I remember correctly??). They got prompted, we got relegated, only in the Championship.

Indeed - we have won two out of the last ten. (We lost at home 2008 so no double)

we have beaten them once in the past 17 years but that was only 8 fixtures. Point is, to pick out WBA for a tonking ................

Past form against them is pretty irrelevant - we're playing well, they're a team in turmoil who look completely bereft of ideas or quality.

Stoke fans before during and after have been comfortably more bitter, moany, crying little bitches than arsenal fans. I think as a fanbase you've grown into the very thing most decent fanbases hate. A bunch of self righteous delusion morons.

I think that's the worst insult you could have made about any Stoke fan haha. The last thing we want is to be spoken in the same breath as Arsenal fans who have consistently wound us up ever since Ramsey's injury. Still, we'll see come the end of the season, if we're still the worst then that's an accolade in itself I guess :D

In your congratulatory article (cheers btw) you mentioned we need to tighten up at the back.  Currently we have the joint 8th best defence in the league, after playing 3 of last year's top 5.

 

So I think you are wrong about that bit.

One thing many of you have pointed out is stats mean nothing and you're spot on. Stats mean nothing. Being the joint best 8th defence in the league just a few games in doesn't mean you'll be joint 8th come the end of the season. You've got a good solid foundation, but I get the feeling that we perhaps didn't exploit it as well as we should have. That's not me saying we were bad, you defended well, I'm just wondering if on another day things might have gone differently. Who knows? I'm in a difficult position here because I'm being accused of giving faint praise, when that isn't what I'm trying to do, I actually think what you did was a very professional performance and exactly what we did a few years ago. However, once you've been in the top league consistently, you're going to want to push on from just smash and grab to trying to dominate games, I don't think that's an unreasonable assumption.

 

Still, give it a few more games and if you're still holding firm defensively, then you might be onto a winner there ;)  :thumbup:

 

I felt the Stoke fans were very similar to Millwall fans from last season. Appeal for absolutely every decision. Get the arse when they don't get and moan at every decision the ref gave us.

Then when they lose blame the ref.

I don't think we're too bad for appealing. I think there's always a few who appeal for everything. I, for one, was surprised how many people appealed for the Bojan penalty. I sit in the boothen end which is the stand opposite you and I got a perfect view and it didn't look a penalty in a million years. I think there were a few 50/50's which harshly went in your favour, and that does tend to rile up the crowd, but I imagine that's no different at your end!

 

Actually, I've not blamed the ref, in my own conclusion I blame a lack of defensive concentration, another anonymous midfield performance and a lack of cutting edge up front when it mattered. The referee doesn't change the fact we had ridiculous amounts of possession yet did **** all with it really. That's not to say we made no chances, we made a few and therefore we also have to look at our attack. Ulloa had one chance and scored it, Crouch had a few headers that he missed and Diouf had good chance that he hit straight at the keeper.

Come off it mate, you can't really joke about us and Vale. Port Vale are a long way off us now and are bordering on the anonymous. They're barely a rival nowadays. In all honesty, I don't hate the Vale in the way you guys hate Derby and Forest. They just exist and that is that. Once you've been in the Premiership for a few years, you'll quickly forget about Derby and Forest if they haven't come up ;) Although I actually hope they do. I enjoy Midland rivalry.

Stoke are a well run Coventry who are massively overachieving simply by being a Premier League side.

I think comparing us to Millwall is a bit harsh. Even in the Championship when the jonny come lately's weren't around, we pulled in higher attendances than they did, pretty consistently.

 

I'm also bemused at the comparison with Coventry lol. Still, there's an element of irony of calling us a well run Coventry, when they're a massively debt-ridden club and we're one of the few Premiership clubs who are almost completely self-sufficient, fair do though. Slightly more thought out than calling us an English Cardiff  :dunno:

Like I said before, I don't actually dislike Leicester at all. My perfect promotion three last season would have been Leicester, Derby and Forest because I love the Midland rivalry and I think that it makes for some great away days. I get that Forest and Derby are hated on here, but by the end of the season, you'll miss the fact you've not had a crunch match with them. Would swap QPR and West Ham in a blink.

Okay, what is it you want me to say exactly? Leicester dominated the game and Stoke were never in it? In the first half, we controlled the game, regardless of the amount of chances we made. Our lack of final delivery certainly cost us in that regard because we got in the right positions and the final ball was poor. Second half was more even with a decent spell in which you somewhat dominated, the one in which you scored.

 

I don't think we were robbed. I've said your performance was smash and grab because it was to a degree. You used possession effectively and took the chance you got. It's something we did for years and there's nothing wrong with it. That's not faint praise at all, that's just honesty. I'm confused as to what it is you want me to say. I haven't blamed the ref, I haven't blamed cheating, I haven't blamed anything but the fact I don't think we defended the goal that well. Wilson lost concentration. Ulloa likes to hit the back post it was obvious in the first half and most people in the stands picked up on it yet Wilson didn't.

The thing you don't seem to grasp Stoke, is that calling our performance smash and grab is entirely dishonest when both teams had pretty much the same amount of clear-cut opportunities.  You wouldn't have thought it a smash and grab if you put one of yours away and we didn't, so why the double standard just because you did a decent job of hiding the ball in your half?

s much as some are underestimating Leicester City (I may underestimate them myself here), others are overrating them just as much.

They on average bag 1.25 goals a game. They have let in 5 goals to our 3 so far, and only scored 4 to our 6. We have 2 clean sheets where as they only have 1. For Leicester, they have started there campaign quite well and are certainly to be respected.

However, our defense has and is shaping up quite well especially with the defensive work of Blind and the composing he brings by taking on the responsibility of dispersing the ball from the back, which relieves some of the pressure off the shaky defense passing that has recently been our demise. Also, in as much as our defense may leak a goal or two, I would like to believe the World class quality of our attack will immensely hurt their defense. Similar to our 20th Title were we just out scored our opponents.

3-2 is likely, but I would like to see a 5-2 or 5-1 to ManUtd with the already well posted first XI of:

With Rooney taking Mata's place around the 70th minute and RVP coming on for Mata.

Januzaj coming on again for Di Maria at the 80th minute.

Apart from Brighton last season, when was the last time we conceded more than 2 goals in a game?

Edit. I like how someone claims we are being overrated and that we havent scored as much as them and conceded more. Yes, of course that's the case. They've had the easiest start, we are level on points after we played Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Stoke.
