The "do they mean us?" thread

I don't understand why Carragher's grievance is with Simpson, Vardy I could at least understand why he'd single him out but Simpson's been our most consistent outfielder over the past two seasons.

Carragher comes across as really insecure as he's started this bollocks up again.

there must have been some tweets exchanged at the end of last season. I don't think form etc is taken in to acccount when it comes to these 'banter' conversations

Embarrassing from both. Carragher holds that champions league over Simpson but lets not forget he conceded three and got bailed out by Gerrard and co.

SIck of seeing these pop up on all the shite 'lad' pages. Grown men arguing over twitter

Simpson to be fair is retaliating. He could be a bit more Buddha about it, but I understand him giving Carra, who is really just bitter (says, "we all loved how Leicester won the title", through clenched teeth) some shit.

But JC is too old to be getting involved im twitter. I'm 10 years younger than him and I find it a weird medium that is somewhat of an abomination.  I get that kids who grew up with it dont know any better, but grown men who get into it is a bit odd.

(I know Simpson is a grown man too. Bit he plays for Leicester, so, nerrr)

Speaking to a Liverpool fan about it and he reckons Carragher is just a really big Ranieri fan. After they won the CL in 2005 Ranieri supposedly sent them a letter congratulating them and it stuck with him, and has respected him since.

It would explain some of it but I still think it's at the absolute least a mix of that and bitterness that we won the league and he never did.

Ironically, at the start of the 15/16 most on here would have been agreeing with Carragher.

I don't think it is a case of who he is arguing with, just the fact it is carrying on. Has Carragher shown any balance about the Ranieri situation?

Agreed, Carragher is a twat for bringing up the whole pathetic argument again out of the blue. It's understandable Simpson wanted to respond.

I think it's pathetic that Carragher suddenly finds it 'personal' when it suits him and says something pretty disgraceful - only to delete it then say 'he made me do it'! Hope he loses his job.

Jamie Carragher is such a whinging little bitch and is very fast to call people out and make things personal but can't hack it when the boot is on the other foot. Realised he made a bad error in judgement and deleted the tweet. Belter

Carragher is bang out of order for calling danny a snake with absolutely  no proof but baseless accusations.

This stuff was done awhile ago and he had to bring it back up to stay "relevant". I think both of them  took it too far today but dont pull that innocent card carra, you absolute sour tosser.

Champions league is  a joke anyways when non-champions can qualify (and win). Shouldnt have ever won it to begin with when ya think about it. Never understood that bollocks anyways but thats another story and cant change that success or take away from it.

Fck off carra.

Danny, let it go it aint worth it.

Foxes Future Fortunes: Will Next Season Be Chalk or Cheese for Leicester City?

"Chelsea is a champion club," was N'Golo Kante's parting shot as he swapped the blue of Leicester City for the blue of Chelsea. Having impressed during City's monumental Premier League run in 2015/2016, Kante decided to leave Leicester last year for the bright lights of London and pursue even more trophies.

While a move away from the King Power Stadium was probably always on the cards, Kante's departure did seem almost prophetic. Indeed, to say the club's 2016/2017 season was a disaster wouldn't be far from the truth. In fact, if there was ever an example of chalk and cheese seasons, Leicester's efforts over the last two years are it.

On the one hand, the Foxes were chalking up wins and racking up points like they were going out of fashion. On the other hand, most of last season's performances quite literally stank worse than a mouldy old block of cheese.

Now, if we put the hyperbole and emotion to one side, the one thing we have learned is that anything can happen in the Premier League. Success in one season doesn't guarantee success the next and the opposite is also true. With this being the case, the natural question is: how will City fare in 2017/2018? Will they be chalking up wins or stinking out the stands with cheese again?

What Do the Odds Say?

Well, a good starting point for any question such as this is the bookmakers. Always looking ahead, the odds makers often have a fair idea of how every Premier League side will do in the future. Sure, they don't always get it 100% correct, but they're usually pretty close. If we follow this link and take a look at Sun Bets' latest lines, we can see that Leicester are somewhere in the middle.

In terms of them winning the league, it looks like a longshot. 150/1 might not be as long as the 5,000/1 odds they upset when they won the Premier League, but it's still a big enough price to suggest it's not going to happen again. Perhaps the most interesting stat is the 14/1 to get relegated next season. When it came to crunch last season, City managed to avoid relegation, but it was certainly touch-and-go for a while.

What Do the Stats Say?

In fact, before Ranieri was given the boot (rightly or wrongly), the team was hovering just above the drop zone before Craig Shakespeare stepped up and helped secure narrow wins over the likes of Watford and West Brom. If we take a closer look at last season's stats, City had an average possession stat of 46% and 47% shot accuracy and created 292 chances. On top of these figures, Leicester scored 48 Premier League goals and conceded 63.

Compare this to their championship winning run and you'll see they scored 68 and conceded 36. Moreover, the team had the ball (on average) 47% of the time, a shot accuracy of 45% and created 386 chances. Now, the two glaring differences here are the chances created and the goals scored. If this was one of the deciding factors in the Foxes' fate last season, then maybe the departure of someone like Kante was critical. Without someone to push the pace and supply the likes of Jamie Vardy, Leicester couldn't find the net as often and that left them vulnerable.

What Are the Transfer Markets Saying?

This could very well be the case again next season if Shakespeare (or whoever the manager is) can't make some shrewd moves in the transfer market. Naturally, a lacklustre season doesn't do much for the club's appeal when it comes to attracting big names. Unfortunately, it appears Foxes are focused on bringing in defenders such as Middlesbrough's Ben Gibson. Take make matters worse, it looks as though Riyad Mahrez is a lock to leave.

If the stats hold any weight and the transfer rumours are true, Leicester could be in trouble next season. Is relegation on the cards? It's certainly on the cards and, even though it might not happen, there's a chance it could. Based on the above evidence, we believe it could be another season of disappointment for City fans. However, as we've said and as we've seen, anything can happen in the Premier League and, at 150/1, we wouldn't be made if you decided to back the Foxes to pull off another shock win.

I've never been able to work it out. Called the European cup  only champions and the previous seasons winners played in it. Called the Champions League and UEFA  give out places to play in it in lucky dip bags.

Obviously the logic is beyond me greedy barsteads.

Ya just a "money maker" for big clubs. You know we have heard BS about cutting back the number of games teams play in a season and perhaps 1 option is to reduce the number of prem league teams. I highly doubt that would ever happen but before you ever get there wouldnt it make sense to limit champions league to only champions? Scrap the wank europa league and get rid of one or both cup competitions as quite frankly they are useless (to me).
