This was mentioned on 5 live around midday too. They were reporting on Lambert's showdown talks with Lerner saying club inside sources had confirmed that Lambert would be kept on and given responsibility for transfer dealings. They then went on to say that Lambert would be up against it as Lerner isn't prepared to commit any more money to the club whilst he seeks a buyer and that Lambert may struggle to retain players as they understood the exodus would begin with Albrighton who is set to join Leicester.

why would we offer to double his salary?!

is it a 30k max wage or min wage we're rolling with?

They really aren't. Live in Leicester so end up going with my mates quite a lot of games and Knockaert is the very definition of a trick pony, very little-no end product. Mahrez seems like he could be a player but drifts off in games a lot, reminds me of a worst version of Taraabt (a player who tore up the championship and was a huge flop in the prem).

Unconfirmed paper shite.

Not a club statement.

Because other PL teams will, so we would have to match.  We all have to get the notion that wages in this league are significantly higher.  I am not sure why everyone is so concerned about the wage bill.  We have professional managers and Owners who know what they are doing.

Well that villa forum seems to think 35k would be doubling his wage. I get being competitive would lead to paying more but if villa are going to table him an offer of 15 or so and that's what he's been on for years seems odd (and daft) that we would say "well we see your 15k and we raise it to... err... 35k!!"

Perhaps Sven is making a return.

I should imagine all these figures (even if they're correct, which I doubt) include bonuses for staying up ect, yet for sensationalism the papers only mention the top figure. Like Mills 5.5m transfer.

I think some Villa fans are coming to a realisation now that their club is screwed, thank you for giving us a quality winger in Albrighton as a free agent!

On the Villa forums in the main they say he's ok but not worth 35k, which is fine as to them he isn't.

But to us, it's no different to spending about 2.5m on a player and paying him 25k a week.

Anyway back to the Villa player. If he's not good enough for an ordinary to poor Villa side why on earth would he be good enough for us ? I think we should be setting our sights a bit higher than the likes of him if we want to stay in the prem.

Spot on.

Not happy about this, seen him down Hinckley quite a lot with Villa reserves and he never stood out. We should be looking for better than rejects from what is possibly the worst Premier league side over the past 5 years that hasn't gone down.

My Daughter in law and her dad are both villa season ticket holders and don't rate him as anything special. They said he can have a great game but then goes off the boil or missing for several games after that. They summed him up as too inconsistent. Though they both thought maybe a change may do him good and give him an appetite for the game again.
