inckley fox Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 While he's nowhere near the number of international games required, I think people will take his age into account there. They may even take into account that we're one of the employers to have more 'home grown' playing staff to our name, and the price tag also sets it apart from those deals which have tended to run into trouble. Plus, whereas I think Agudelo was South American, Kramaric is an EU National. Work restrictions still apply, but his EU status must count for something. It looks to me like an absolutely standard process which is taking a little longer than people had hoped. I would be astounded if he didn't get a permit. It would be a bit of a gift for the likes of UKIP, wouldn't it? (ie. highly skilled foreign worker failing to get a permit, in the context of most legal immigrants doing relatively menial work or, if you read the Mail or the Express, sponging benefits off us good hard-working white Christians). I have more faith in the system than that. My only concern is that the decision isn't affected by the political climate right now, and Cameron being determined to restrict immigration within the EU wherever he possibly can - which is, basically, in a very small number of circumstances (like this one).
Callabinho Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Ball ache it really is, but I'm sure it's only a minor issue, we've not really had anything like this before have we, it could be a regular occurrence for most PL teams.
Captain... Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 So having had some limited experience with this type of thing here's my tuppenceworth. He doesn't need a 'work permit' as we understand it he is an EU citizen, and the 75% rule shouldn't apply. However, there are still provisional controls on the movement of labour in and out of Croatia so he will need an 'accession card' which is basically like a slip from your parents getting you out of PE. From my experience UKBA makes it as difficult as possible for you to get these, your employer is supposed to sort it out but they are usually unwilling. However, Leicester City shouldn't have any problem. Believe me, this will happen, it'll just take a couple of days. The previous examples of work permits not been given have been for players outside of Europe. It is an annoyance, but it doesn't stop the doom mongers declaring the deal to be off and our subsequent relegation being guaranteed. I really wonder about the mental health of some people in here. It can't be healthy to have such a negative outlook on life.
Fox 4 Life Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 They must factor age in surely, he has played at literally every level of Croation international football so it's not like hes a 30 year old that got his first cap last week. Ramires got a permit when he had only played a couple of games for Brazil and I am sure there are many others.
yorkie1999 Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 It would be a complete shambles if the home office rejected this considering his potential and the fact he could just walk in in July once Romanians have freedom of movement. And the fact the government will earn a good chunk in tax.

I really think the media again are raising to much noise about this, it will be just a formality. Papers need to write something, and based on my experience they always prefer bad news! I guess it´s more readable

FireFox Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Cut the crap will you. Being an Hajduk supporter myself I never ever loathed against you and personally I am glad for your success. But this post, besides that is full of lies and myths (like Tito being a Hajduk supporter or that your region is among the prosperous, maybe only recently but for the most time that was Split, Zagreb and even Osijek; Sanader helping Hajduk etc.) shows just why you were never and will not ever be among the popular clubs in the state. You can have all the money you can get, but you will never have more than 3000 people on average per game. You just cannot buy tradition. Yes, Hajduk has financial difficulties but it is because we never wanted to sell our club to some rich dude to became its personal playtoy (last summer some American wanted to buy it but the fans rejected it), we are and have always been a peoples club. That is something that you can never understand, it is also a reason why you will always be a local club not reaching popularity outside Rijeka and Kvarner (hence even there most of people from Rijeka dont cheer for Rijeka; in your cityI would say 40% are for HNK Rijeka while the rest of 60% are Dinamo and Hajduk fans). There is also other reasons why you dont get the support of people outside of Rijeka and the media but I will not mention it as is is not of domain of football. Now, 70% of Hajduks shares are owned by the City of Split while the rest are minor share holders. If last summer a private person like that American brought the most shares as he plannned, Hajduk would become rich but it would loose its popularity and support from its fans. We are operated by the same way as Barcelona FC, in which every member of the club has a vote to elected the Nadzorni odbor (dont know how it is called in English), contrary to you who dont have any voice in the decission making of your club. In 2008. the only thing that changed is that Hajduk turned from a sports society into a shareholder firm, where the City of Split became the major share holder and Sanader had nothing to do with it. That is enough for me, and just to clarify I am not writing because of you who got excited as a teen girl who is about to lose her virginity and now deperately post here to have attention ("look guys, see our club how awesome it is"), but to clarify the situation to the foreign readers. PS. I liked much your rival club from the city HNK Orijent, unfortnately he never got much attention from Rijeka high politics. PPS. Also the media are saying that mamić got some money from the transfer of Kramarić since he is actually a product of Dinamo (he started there his career and hia hometown is actually Zagreb). Because of close relationships between Rijekas Mišković and Mamić, people are mocking Rijeka by calling it Dinamos feeder club. To quote the one Nigel Pearson, "Fvck off and die!"
Torten Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 "With the signing of Andrej Kramaric in doubt due to work permit complications, we understand the Leicester are also looking atMainz striker Shinji Okazaki. A source close to the Japan international has claimed a deal with the Premier League club has been agreed in principle." wait what?
Torten Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 I highly doubt Pearson would pull the plug over having to wait a few days to get it sorted.I rate Okazaki highly but I'd much rather have Andy.
FireFox Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Okazaki was probably back up for Kramaric, but since it seems unlikely we'll get Defoe, then we'll take Okazaki in also anyway.Don't worry, we're still getting Kramaric.
Torten Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 SIGN THEM ALLL! If you'd have told me this time last season that we could possibly have replaced Nugent and Vardy with Kramaric and Okazaki, I'd have called you a very idiot balloon-head.
MC Prussian Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 People on Twitter saying the deal is off are just embarrassing! Like anybody from outside the UK, A permit to work in this country is needed. And in this case it'll take a few days. Are they Chelsea, Juventus or Vitesse Arnheim fans, by any chance? If so, I can understand their frustration.
SlaneyLCFC Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 "With the signing of Andrej Kramaric in doubt due to work permit complications, we understand the Leicester are also looking atMainz striker Shinji Okazaki. Been said plenty of times already that he should be fine permit wise. It's not as if he has just jumped off the back of a lorry from Calais.
Livid Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 https://www.gov.uk/croatian-national/overview I can't see this being too much trouble? He needs a purple certificate. To get a purple certificate you need a job offer from a registered sponsor (I've checked and we're on the list)
Ric Flair Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 There are no cases of players from countries within the EU who have working restrictions in place who have failed to get a work permit. The criteria is diferent than of players from countries outside of the EU. This shouldn't be a problem. If people are so concerned about it, ring up the FA and do some scenarios with them.
dannythefox Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 I can't believe a club would go to all the trouble of sorting out medicals, wages etc thinking he might not get a work permit it just doesn't happen theses days! Shoot me if I'm wrong though!
Dan Posted 8 January 2015 Posted 8 January 2015 Alternative to signing a Croatian who can't get a work permit - sign a Japanese player
