dormelcfc Posted 18 August 2015 Posted 18 August 2015 Seeing all the suggestions for Byram, I don't think it would cost a great amount to get him. I think I posted in another thread that he is out of contract at the end of this season. Looks like a good talent. No-brainer for me.
davieG Posted 18 August 2015 Posted 18 August 2015 Inside Football: Why English players are facing extinction By Leicester Mercury | Posted: August 18, 2015 By Rob Tanner Jamie Vardy on England duty Comments (0)English players in the Premier League may have become an endangered species, but that will not stop Claudio Ranieri from looking for them, the Leicester City manager has vowed. Chairman of the FA Greg Dyke is concerned about the fall in players starting in the Premier League who are eligible for England. The opening weekend of the season saw just 73 English players, of a possible 220, start those games. That was an all-time low of just 33.2 per cent in the number of English players, down from 35 per cent last season and 69 per cent just over a decade ago. RELATED CONTENT Leicester City under-21s suffer first defeat of the season at Norwich City Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri 'icing heads' of his players after dream Premier League start Leicester City hope to complete Gokhan Inler signing this week Leicester City had to move fast to secure new deal for Riyad Mahrez, says Kevin Phillips Leicester City are coming of age, says Andy King Dyke's concern that the current trend will continue to effect the chances of England at international level is shared by Uefa president Michel Platini and even Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, despite being one of the biggest offenders for not picking English players. Only one Englishman has started for the Gunners in their opening two games, Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain, against West Ham. City have built their success on a core of British players, although only seven of the first-team squad are eligible for England – Liam Moore, Danny Simpson, Danny Drinkwater, Dean Hammond, Matty James, Marc Albrighton and Jamie Vardy. Despite the fact that Swiss international Gokhan Inler is set to become City's sixth signing of the summer, all of which have been foreign players, Italian manager Ranieri says he wants to retain the team's English identity. However, he admitted that was easier said than done. "It is a problem, a big problem," he said of the statistics. "Now I am here in England, I want more English players because it is important to keep the mentality of the nation. "Now in England, I want English players, in Spain I want more Spanish players, and in Italy more Italian players. "My philosophy is that it is important any players who come into the league must know the mentality and the English philosophy. "You must play hard from the start to the end of the match." When asked if he would target English players in his recruitment process, Ranieri admitted there are more bargains to be have overseas, and this issue is the real crux. "At the beginning we choose English players and then we make comparisons with other players, and then we choose what is the best for us," he said. "Maybe you look abroad because the English players cost too much. "When you find an English player he may, for example, cost £10million. "The other player from overseas may, more or less, have the same qualities but costs £5m. What do you choose?" Dyke believes the answer to the problem is a bigger quota system forcing clubs to have homegrown players, but while Platini is sympathetic, it will be difficult to push through such legislation, especially with the European Union's laws on freedom of movement for workers. Such changes would also be resisted by the Premier League, with chief Richard Scudamore insisting the FA have no powers to force any such legislation on clubs. It would appear within the Premier League the 'endangered species' of English players are spiralling closer to extinction. deep blue Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Anyone know anything about Zach Clough ( BWanderers). Gk for MK Dons tonight rates him Just read a report from Manc Evening News from July that says Man U are ready to sign him (doesn't seem to have happened yet) and reports likening the 20 year old to Messi. Make of it what you will.
filbertstreet Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Anyone know anything about Zach Clough ( BWanderers). Gk for MK Dons tonight rates him Mate from Bolton really doesn't want him to leave, tons of potential
TJB-fox Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Anyone know anything about Zach Clough ( BWanderers). Gk for MK Dons tonight rates himExtremely talented would love to see him here, only thing that is remotely promising or exciting in a poor Bolton side. He's like Mahrez in saying the ball just sticks to his feet
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Don't really understand the logic of letting Lawrence go on loan and replacing him with a similarly inexperienced player?
TJB-fox Posted 19 August 2015 Posted 19 August 2015 Don't really understand the logic of letting Lawrence go on loan and replacing him with a similarly inexperienced player?Cloughs better than Lawrence, but I'd imagine he'd be loaned out too. When I say id love him here I obviously don't mean taking Mahrez or Albrighton out of the team, he'd need nurturing for a short while first.
