Captain... Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 It will be interesting to see how Stoke line up, they are on a poor run, they are at home and they are playing a team high on confidence and love to play on the counter attack. If they are cagey they risk being overrun, if they go on the attack then we will hit them on the break. If they were full of confidence it wouldn't matter so much to them, but they will be looking at us and thinking, shit these guys are on fire and we aren't. They aren't a bad side, but the mental side of sport is so important and they will have seen what happened on Sunday and it will be on their minds. Lets just hope it psyches them out rather than inspires them.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Kasper RDL Huth Wes Jeff Marc Drinky Kante Dyer Mahrez Vardy 1-3
lestajigs Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 If it's another away display like bournmouth, we will get beat,
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Always typical of us to give another team their first win of a season and us play badly. 2-1 loss
Ric Flair Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 You'd be amazed to think Stoke would go 6 games without a win at the start of a season but I just don't think we'll lose this one. I can see it being a low scoring draw or maybe we'll nick it. It'll be a blood and thunder sort of game and Kasper will have a blinder.
Sunbury Fox Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 This is an acid test of just how good this team is. There is a huge risk of an 'after the Lord Mayor's show' performance eg losing limply at Palace after beating ManUre last September. Think this team is better than last season's but the risk is definitely there. Think the first goal is crucial here. We get it, their crowd gets even more restless, their players even more tense and we can hit them on the counter. So I'd like to see us come out the blocks quickly like we tend to do in home matches, rather than play it cagey. As others have said, CR will stick with 4 at the back, I'm sure, but I would much prefer 3412 myself. 3 at the back covers up for our lack of pace at centre half thereby allowing us to press higher up the field than we did for much of the game against Villa where we played far too deep. It also gives better cover to our attacking full backs and enables us to play 2 up front without being light in midfield. I just don't think we have any strikers who are good in the lone forward role. Vardy and Shinji are not the best at hold up play, Ulloa is not mobile enough and Kram is too lightweight. So whilst 4231 is in vogue I'm not convinced we can play it. I'd go: Kasper Was Huth Wes Albrighton DD Kanté Jeff Mahrez Vards Leo But CR knows much more about the players and tactics than me and you can't argue with the results so what do I know?!
Vindaloo FOX Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Vardy Mahrez Jeff Danny Kante Dyer Fuchs Wes Huth RDL Kasper Jeff and Fuchs double up on Shaqiri .
lgfualol Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Vardy Mahrez Jeff Danny Kante Dyer Fuchs Wes Huth RDL Kasper Jeff and Fuchs double up on Shaqiri . I'd really like that line-up, I want to see how Fuchs will fare and get a look at his set pieces. I think we have to start Dyer, or Albrighton on that right side. Mahrez is better staying forward.
Mikey Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Vardy Mahrez Jeff Danny Kante Dyer Fuchs Wes Huth RDL Kasper Jeff and Fuchs double up on Shaqiri . I'd like that, then we've got Albrighton and Ulloa/Okazaki to come on if we're chasing the game and the likes of Inler and King for the middle. Not bad at all.Jeff's done alright at left back but Fuch's experience may come in handy against Shaqiri, but we don't want to lose Jeff's pace from the team. Albrighton's done nothing to warrant being dropped but with Vardy up top on his own Albrighton's best asset might not be utlilised enough. Be nice bringing him on with Ulloa for something different if needs be.
Leicesterpool Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Very tight game and the foxes to score in the first half with Vardy. 1-0 Leicester Fingers crossed Leicester actually keep an clean sheet.
Great Boos Up Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 A litmus test game. This match (bar a sending off) could be a single indicator as to what area we finish in the table. I don't want to predict caus I'm a f***ing jinx. Actually then.........16 - 3.
biggs Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Who goes on the stoke forum and has a love in writing this stuff??? Yeah Leicester fan!! (booo hiss)That seems to be how we are setting up away from home. Even against Spurs and Villa at home we tended to drop very deep (until we conceded), even the strikers sitting almost in our own half. We'd then just let the oppo have the ball and knock it about their own area. Spurs and Bournemouth both had massive amounts of possession, but little came of it due to most of it being away from our goal.Problem is... Our full backs are Schlupp, who was a striker not so long ago, and De Laet. They both have clangers in them so sitting back doesn't work as we end up gifting a goal at some point. Then we fly out of the blocks and attack like mad men.We might learn that attack from the start is our best bet currently! I think it will be a better game than last season at yours, we were terrible until Cambiasso came on. I think our squad is much better than when we played then, so we should have a bit more quality. We're still not keeping possession very well. But much of that is down to how we play. We play quick ball into space for runners, rather than pass, pass pass.

Fox 4 Life Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 Teamtalk done, **** off Shawcross CAPTAIN Ryan Shawcross is confident Stoke are better equipped to break down teams like Leicester who park the bus at the Britannia Stadium. The Potters were stung by a rare Leicester counter-attack as they dominated possession and chances in vain in the meeting on home turf 12 months ago. Claudio Ranieri is expected to keep his side tight and packed with pace to try to repeat the trick tomorrow, trying to keep up an unbeaten start to the season. But Shawcross, pictured, has faith that attacking colleagues like Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Arnautovic and Bojan have the talent to unlock any defence. He said: "It's been a case over the last couple of years that away teams set out to play on the break and make themselves difficult to break down. "We've seen it a lot at the Britannia where we've had a reputation of being a good team. Sides towards the lower end of the division have put a lot of men behind the ball and we have lost a few games in that situation. "If you have better players it's easier to break those teams down and now we've got Shaqiri, Marko, (Ibrahim) Afellay, Bojan. These are lads that can find a way through defences. "The higher quality players you've got the better chance you've got of scoring." Stoke, who are still hunting for a first league win, have lost their opening two matches at HQ this season. Bojan is pushing for a first Premier League start since a 1-0 win at Leicester in January, while Stephen Ireland hopes he will be rewarded for impressive cameos from the bench. Shaqiri wants a better second day at the Brit after his first home game, against West Brom three weeks ago, was ruined as his side were reduced to nine men. The 23-year-old winger has now been in England for a month following his £12m move from Inter Milan and Shawcross is in no doubt he will have a major part to play. "The quality's there, it's just a case of making sure he's settled and not putting too much pressure on him," said the skipper. "Give him time and let him produce the goods." Shawcross, aged 27, is excited by the quality in Stoke's changing room which has been boosted by the arrival of Shaqiri and believes that will soon be converted into points. He said: "Shaqiri is the kind of big signing that was noticed all over Europe. Everyone can see this is a team which is trying to progress. "The owners backed the manager which I thought they should have and he'll prove to be an excellent signing. "If we can get these kind of players in the right situations they can win us games. That's the point of bringing in signings of this calibre"

We are going to "park the bus" or at the very least play extremely cautiously for the most part I would have thought.
filbertway Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 What is wrong with what Shawcross has said there?
Sunbury Fox Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 The fact that he's suggesting that we're a bunch of spoilers when in fact we are joint top scorers in the division and much better judges than him think we are one of the most exciting teams in the league?
oohaahmustafa Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 We are on a roll. No fear. 1 - 3 Leicester
Ric Flair Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 The fact that he's suggesting that we're a bunch of spoilers when in fact we are joint top scorers in the division and much better judges than him think we are one of the most exciting teams in the league? I think he's referring to last season when we went there, we were fcukin diabolical 1st half and in the 2nd half they battered us but we sucker punched them and held out for the win. This yera might be different but based on our performance at Bournemouth in the 1st half it could be similar.
vandamman Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 Anything is possible with City at the moment but my head says a draw. Stoke have got too much attacking quality to not get a result eventually.
Guest Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 'Sides towards the lower end of the division' Perhaps Shawcross should at least have a look at the table before the weekend
Wymsey Posted 18 September 2015 Posted 18 September 2015 I think the 'terrifying' atmosphere tag of the Britannia has become somewhat subsided in recent games, so we should just play how we're currently.
