Newcastle Post Match Thread 0 - 3

It's days like this where Veretout sits in a darkened room questioning his own judgement.

Funny how things work out. If he had've signed for us then Drinkwater might not have got the flying start.

Another magnificent victory. Buzzing for Vardy equaling the record of 10/10. A great win for not only the team's confidence, but also for our three strikers getting on the scoresheet. Danny Simpson has stepped up superbly since being in the team. Ranieri's tactics and subs proven spot on once again today. Top of the BPL, what a Saturday.

Vardy gets the headlines but Kante was exceptional. What a signing.

At this rate we will struggle to hold on to our better players in the window, because the bigger clubs are going to throw money at us.

What times.

Those of us who endured the dark days should lap this up.

Accomplished performance particularly considering we've not had the best record in Newcastle over recent seasons. Records tumbling for fun, such an excellent all round performance the home fans went home, welcome goals for supporting players like Ulloa and Shinji, Vardy's goal leaves him in seventh heaven, Simpson seen in the attacking half and even making a goal, Kasper dominating hi s area, our second defensive clean sheet and Mahrez moving to 13 goals/assists for the season.

Superlatives are so well deserved and our achivement in going top is nothing more than the team deserves. Danny Mills' graceless comment that Vardy's just in form and has been lucky is an insult. A lot of centre-forwards wouldn't even have been playing with the injuries he's had and he could so easily have taken time out today with another knock or strain. But there he was with a thumbs up to the bench ready and willing to create more havoc.

As for Drinkwater I'm alongside everyone else in supporting him getting a call-up for england cos anyone who can pass the ball 20 times a game more than today's MoM Kante - and keep the consistently reliable Kingy on the bench - is some player and showing himself as keen to keep on improving as Vardy.

I didn't want to shout too loud but did quite fancy us for a clean sheet today and it only emphasised what a consistently improved area of our play of late with even one of the few goals we have conceded being a penalty for clumsiness rather than because we were taken apart in the box.

I've not mentioned Ranieri but he's surely conducting the best all round team we've had in the 60 years I've been watching and getting the very most out of everyone as our league placing emphasises.

Most important is that he always plays with balance and doesn't have any noticeable inclination to pick players cos they shouldn't be sitting the game out. He picks the team to compliment one another and win the game.

I doubt it will be mentioned much but our closing down in the first half was exceptional. We were first to almost everything, everywhere and always with bravery and determination. Newcastle knew very early on they were up against it and someone mentioned what a long time it is since we conceded a two goal lead..

It's such a great and proud time to be a Leicester fan.  Top of the league! Now let's show we belong there.

He is useless Kante ten times better

From what I've seen of that Veretout, he'd struggle to get in most Championship sides.

Constantly plays the ball backwards.

Vardy's goal was really good as well, not a tap in or a penalty but an excellent finish. He really deserves his record.

So many good performances but, as others have posted,Kante is an excellent buy.

Above all another supreme team performance. We have found consistency.

Very Julius Caesar'esque type speech there Thracian... like it. Summed it up perfectly

Brilliant!

A third of the season gone, and we're top of the league.

The goal difference is starting to look competitive now, too.

Whisper it quietly, people, but this is a title challenge.

We've got a tough run ahead of us but I think we can mix it. I seem to be saying every game how important the next one is but we need to beat Man U.

What a time to be alive.

4 wins on the trot

10 consecutive away games unbeaten

Most points in the Premier League since April

Vardy equalling the Premier League record of 10 consecutive games (for Leicester, having a striker than can score at all is a bonus)

Vardy with 13 from 13 games - equalling Cottee's Premier League record with LCFC.

As things stand, after 13 games we are top of the Premier League.

I repeat:

AS THINGS STAND, AFTER 13 GAMES WE ARE TOP OF THE PRIEMER LEAGUE.

Seriously, what a time to be alive.

Leicester City, wherever we are, however we're doing, be it top of the Premier League or being relegated to League Two, will always - ALWAYS be my happy place. I've never been so prouder to support this club.

Paul Merson loves us as much as we do! lol

To be fair he's always been in our corner, even last season. I find him a decent honest pundit. My world will explode if the Beebs Phil McNulty ever decides to tear himself away from the "big" clubs and write something complimentary about us!

We looked seriously good today. Like seriously good.

Aided by a poor Newcastle side but we kept the ball like a top 6 side at times and there's some decent players in that Newcastle team.

As long as we play the same way we have been doing and dont change cos its "man u" etc i will be proud and happy. Lose draw or win.

I dont think claudio will change our tactics. He goes for goals and knows our team like the back of his hand.

The only teams that bother me are man city. Chelsea. Arsenal

just had to come on to say a big CONGRATS, this is an incredible season you're having. Suppose we should have seen hints of what was to come from the final games last season with that nice surge up the table. It's always easy to criticize but we also should give all credit when it's so due, as of now!!   :appl:  :appl:
