Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Huge wasted opportunity in this clubs history IF true. Yep.
AKCJ Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Huge wasted opportunity in this clubs history IF true. Is it? We're 2nd with the squad we've got.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Is it? We're 2nd with the squad we've got. Which is why it would be a wasted opportunity. You should buy players from a position of strength and it's clear we need more in certain areas if we're going to stay up here. We can't rely on Vardy and Mahrez for goals ALL season.

No but people are going on like it would be a travesty if we didn't sign anyone. I personally trust the players we've got. I get the impression that some think that any player would come in and improve us which is obviously not true. If the scouting team can't find a player that would fit in and improve us then they shouldn't (and won't) bother.
Stevosevic Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Is it? We're 2nd with the squad we've got. We'll never be in a better position to attract quality and maybe get a top 4 spot.
goose2010 Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 I think people are over reacting a bit to be honest, it could all just be a ploy to keep prices down but come on we are still Leicester City just because we are second do you think it would attract top players? CR and his staff's targets will of all been approached and probably turned down just like we would turn down bids for our players. The team we have is more than capable of keeping this run going and yesterday proved that we have capable players that can be called upon. Remember it is a business world we are in and just because we are having a good season doesn't mean we are going to chuck 20 / 30 million on players off the back of half a good season. Its just not good business and wouldn't be in the clubs strategy / budget. We are in a situation where we have to find the right type of players as well, you couldn't just put anyone in this team the selection process needs to be tight to. If you brought a couple of new players and put them into the team what's that going to do to the squad harmony? it would kill it. Personally I would stick we the squad we have maybe look at loaning in a striker if the right one came about but we aren't desperate.
VLC86 Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 b-but i want milik Go shop and get some then, no need to post it in this thread pal we know its all you cats think about.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 We'll never be in a better position to attract quality and maybe get a top 4 spot. Completely agree. Just think about this....We are in a realistic position to make top four and play in the Champions League. If ever there was a time to spend some money on the right players it's now. It's not about where we sit now. It's about strengthening in key areas (especially a striker) to be in the same position in 4/5 months time.
kingfox Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 We need a striker, the only position we could do with strengthening this month. Back up goalie, RB, CB & maybe one or two other positions can wait till the summer.
Frank to be Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 I'm sure if any players who would immediately improve our team were available for a sensible price and were willing to come to us then we'd buy them. Those players aren't as easy as some seem to think to find though. Most of them are already at successful, wealthy clubs having good seasons. The clubs don't want to sell them, the players have got their eyes on bigger clubs than us if they even want to leave. We're at a level now where the club's around us have got more pulling power and bigger chequebooks than us. It's difficult to keep improving.
shen Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 As good as our team have been, it would be nice to make the most out of our position and bring in some talent to keep us in this position. Just a couple signings to make our depth a bit better, if Kasper gets injured we're back with Schwarzer, if Simpson is out we have De Laet, same with Fuchs - we would have to depend on someone that can't play LB in Schlupp or hope Chilwell can do the business at 18 years old. Also, if Vardy is out for a longer time we don't really have anyone that has shown they could take his place and be as important as him. It could be a risk to bring in a few good players, but it could also pay off and push the whole team to perform better. And just when is a youth prospect ever going to play if not when a first-teamer is out? We seem to doubt the ability of our young players. Maybe it's because the staff haven't really given any a proper shot since Schlupp broke through. It's only natural that our back up players are inferior to our first-teamers, hence why they're backup. I wouldn't panic if Schwarzer or Hamer came into the team. Neither would it be the end of the world if De Laet came in. Any team would struggle without their star players, we're no exception. Yet without Vardy, Mahrez and Drinkwater we still managed two good goals away against the team with the meanest defense in the Premier League. That's twice as many as with them at home earlier this season

That's twice as many as with them at home earlier this season We have some really good young talent coming through, as proven by how well our U21s are doing. I think it would be a shame if we didn't go in for a really top striker to play alongside Vards but I trust CR and his team. On the Hamer point, watching him in the U21s game, he looked pretty shaky actually... I'd be nervous if Kasper got injured.

Strokes Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 We'll never be in a better position to attract quality and maybe get a top 4 spot. How do you know that? We might be in a better position in the summer, having qualified for European football.
Ric Flair Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 The fact we've not been linked with a single player since Ranieti said we probably wouldn't sign anyone else suggests it was all bollocks anyway
dylanlegend Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 No but people are going on like it would be a travesty if we didn't sign anyone. I personally trust the players we've got. If the scouting team can't find a player that would fit in and improve us then they shouldn't (and won't) bother. Agree with this. Everyone keeps rabbiting on about this player that player blah blah blah. We have a good squad who've achieved 67 points in the last 38 games in the PL. that's a champions league place. Why spend 25million on a few players who could have no impact at all and potentially unsettle the team. Even if we signed Ronaldo we still probably wouldn't win the title. I have full trust in the scouting / management setup to only buy a player if its right for the team as a whole. We are 2nd in the league building gradually is better than over spending and ending up like Leeds / QPR / Portsmouth etc
richardsfoxes Posted 11 January 2016 Posted 11 January 2016 Its not about bringing in 25 million players, it's about making a statement to not only us fans but to the premier league we mean business, not signing anyone send's the wrong message to me. Because right now it worries me to think what we will do for goals if Vardy and Mahrez get injured.
