Villa away post match 1-1

All in all, very much 2 points dropped. It was never going to be a 0-3 or 0-4 game, but even so at 1-0 with the chance to go 2-0, its 2 bad dropped points.

I thought the first half was quite good. We are a counter attack team but did a good job of controlling the ball and the tempo of the game, and for the most part we were playing a lot higher up the pitch and supporting the front two, who i though were very good on the night.

We got the goal from a bit of quick thinking from Schmeichel and Vardy, good anticipation from Okazaki to poach the rebound, and then had the stonewall penalty which would have made it 2-0 and game over at that point, with them having wasted the chance from the Huth backpass.

Instead though, the 2nd half was atrocious.

I know we are a counter attack team, and thats fine, but we are starting to over egg the pudding. Gradually throughout the 2nd half we were retreating deeper into our half leaving our forward players isolated, and the only outlet being a long ball forward. It was at that point we started losing the ability to control the pace of the game.

Yes, possession isnt everything, but there are times where you HAVE to be able to play short passes, keep the ball, and build through the lines of the team. Or else itll keep coming back again and again. The team HAS to play higher up the pitch and win the ball back in areas where we can move forwards, because currently we are asking for trouble.

As we dropped off, we started letting Ayew have more of the ball and he showed quality on it, while Kozak and Gestede after coming on started posing more of a threat. I dont think anyone could deny their equaliser was merited and you could argue Huth was lucky not to give away a penalty on Kozak.

The substitutions were strange too, Okazaki coming off early for De Laet where a ready made wide man was on the bench in Gray, arguably we could have made a straight swap for Mahrez there and then, whilst Ulloa doesnt pose enough threat or possess the ability to stretch the back 4.

All in all, a poor way to drop 2 points in a game where we really needed all 3.

Good post, agree with all of that.

Oh my days..to think I'd looked forward to that all day.

Zero quality. No-one simply got the ball down and played a bit of football.

And Mahrez needs a boot up his arris...

Someone asked me, Solthewallbamba and Brockmeister if we are 'real' City fans in the pub tonight.

We've made it

None of you are, all johnny-come-lately bloody plastics!

On a positive note though, 2 tough away games, 4 points. Out of the top 4, Man City also got 4, Spurs 3, and Arsenal can only get 4 max. Aint the end of the world is it?

Listen I've been kicking the cat since the game ended! BUT if we had drawn away at Spurs and Won at Villa we would be delighted, we are looking a bit jaded but we are still creating chances, chip up fellow foxes!

It absolutely 100% cried out for foot in,give it real simple, possibly score Andy King.......still one more point than we got last year.....watch Stoke beat Arsenal tomorrow, then us beat Stoke next week.....we've lost 3 in 35 ffs!!!!

we were crap end of

No we werent, this forums following for their team is paper thin.

The result, we dont like, we missed a penalty again, we missed a couple of great chances..

Everybody is frustrated, because a midlands rivalal wasn't taken to the cleaners.

Big girls blouses all of you....panic, then dive into your own tears.

Fickle.

Good post, agree with all of that.

Ditto. Thought it was a possible banana skin before the game. But we looked well in control until the penalty when we should have been unassailable then we let Villa seize the initiative after half time. The tendency to drop really deep recently is frustrating. Still we are still top!

Put it this way what's worse drawing with Villa or doing an Arsenal by slipping up and being hammered at Southampton?

now you put it that way I can rest easy bro thanks

Postives: Shinji scored, Gray looked good.

But Vardy and Riyad need a rest. Need another pacey striker to rotate with Vardy-Berahiino? IMO need a class attacking midfielder, who scores 10 goals a season-Izzet-like!

Don't think we can win it, but 3rd is possible. Worth spending 30M.

Fickle, kneejerk, pathetic and bs. Pull your head out your arses take 5 minutes, think about last season and what the majority of us would have forecast hoped for at this point of this season?

It's how we respond NEXT GAME that matters not crying about this one ffs get real!

The De Laet sub baffled me, as did our lack of urgency to get it forward in the last 10 minutes. Also, how is Kovac a footballer?

Fvcking hell, hes only just come back from 2 years out, and he was STILL a threat.

The "urgency" of getting the ball forward is half the problem.

Worst result of the season for me. Feels terrible. They were so poor first half and we should have been clear. Even at 1-0 I'd have hoped wed ve professional enough to see it out.

Seem to be much more defensive and long ball than we used to. There's always been that element to our play but these days it's all we have. We're better than that and think we should sacrifice the defensive shape a bit for some creativity.

Don't know anything about his situation but he looked miles away from a Premier League footballer today.

I'm not saying we should have launched it long, I'm saying that taking our time over goal kicks and throw-ins when we were drawing to an awful Villa side was very concerning.

Absolute dogshite. We should of battered them the way we have been have been playing. Villa were woeful and so were we.

Thats a few games now where we have been shite. We are now definately in a "slump" and will be out the top six by march

I hope its all some sort of plan by Ranieri but it seems like we are trying to play safe and steal a one goal win. Typical atai's tactics

It feels like now we have 40+ points players cant be arsed to turn up.

I really hope its some ploy to get us rested and then bang we play out of our skins again. I really do.

But to me its like the whole 'buzz" has gone now

We should of beat the villa easy hands down. Terrible side, and us. Jamie garragher was right

Thought we were reasonably good today in patches. The whole '35% possession' thing is getting a touch frustrating now though.

Vardy looked sharper to me and barring a worldy of a save he would have had a great goal to his name.

I'm growing seriously frustrated by Albrighton now. His end product is average and today looked so hell bent on scoring he was ignoring simple passes. Give Gray an extended run I say!

Some of the over reactions on here are absolutely mental. We're Leicester city, top of the league mid January. Yes we should have won today, and yes people are allowed to be disappointed, but context is needed.

Top of the Prem and people are moaning? Lord 'av mercy

Amazing really, this forum seems to be in melt down with all the negative threads being started.

Reality check, 2 away games, spurs, villa, we come home with 4 points.

It doesn't matter how, but you'd have taken a draw at WHL and a win at Villa any day, we did it the other way around.

Today was a poor performance, it happens, dust yourself down and go again, no need to panic just yet.

Several hours on and I still feel shit about the game. It feels worse than a defeat.

I know I'm overreacting but if our season now turns to shit ( relatively speaking)

this is the game we look back on and say " that was the turning point".

We were shite. I've not skimmed through this thread yet but I've absolutely no doubt you'll get some people trying to close all debate because we've gone top. The season isn't what I'm complaining about (that should be obvious). That performance was absolutely dreadful. Villa have yet again managed to drag us down to their abysmal level and if anything I'd say over 90 minutes they were the better side.

So underwhelming after such a super result in midweek. Four points dropped already in 2016 and it's entirely our own doing. I wasn't sure about Mahrez and penalties after Bournemouth but my mind is made up now. Give them Vardy.

yep. worst game i have seen this season.. ball just popping up in the air all the time.. hardly tested the keeper except for a Drinkwater set play from the corner.
