erlee Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We were shite. I've not skimmed through this thread yet but I've absolutely no doubt you'll get some people trying to close all debate because we've gone top. The season isn't what I'm complaining about (that should be obvious). That performance was absolutely dreadful. Villa have yet again managed to drag us down to their abysmal level and if anything I'd say over 90 minutes they were the better side. So underwhelming after such a super result in midweek. Four points dropped already in 2016 and it's entirely our own doing. I wasn't sure about Mahrez and penalties after Bournemouth but my mind is made up now. Give them Vardy. well at least he's got rid of that jinking run-up to the ball during the penalty., .
Andy King Power Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Top of the League is nice, but what's even nicer is if we put those penalties away when given them. 4 points lost simply because we didn't take those penalties. I bet you the attitude from the Bournemouth and Villa games would change if only we put them away.
4everfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We need to scrap this massive attention we have on defending and hoofing the ball forward because its boring. I'd rather we played the way we did for the first 15 or so games this season and just go for it. Even against the big teams its pretty depressing stuff but Aston Villa? No way should we be sitting back playing that long ball nonsense against teams like that. I'd rather win 3-2 or 4-3 then win 1-0 or draw 0-0 playing in that shyte style. Attack, attack, attack! Lets be honest its all ok when we are picking up points playing like that but as soon as we start losing with performances like that then it won't take long before the booing starts and the pressure builds. If that's the style of football we have got to look forward to for the next year or two then its going to be boring to watch.
oohaahmustafa Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Take a draw away from home all day. No complaints on that front. Atmosphere was awfull in the upper tier. Everyone was singing in the Witton pub, why not in the ground? I used to hate going to home home games cus of the atmosphere. Looking forward to the cup reply. SK1 will be infinitely better than today.
trabuch Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Worst result of the season for me. Reminds me of Hull last season.
ScouseFox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 interesting (not really) but if they hadn't introduced goal line technology we'd probably have got 0 points from our games vs villa this season

SK1 will be infinitely better than today. You would take a draw against that abject dross? It's a horrible result. The worst of the season and the worst performance too. I actually thought we were second best against the comfortably worst team in the division. Haven't got a clue what it is about Villa Park that turns us so negative and so shit. Atmosphere today also one of the shittest of the season. How are our ends this flat?
Blackpool Fox 69 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 interesting (not really) but if they hadn't introduced goal line technology we'd probably have got 0 points from our games vs villa this season True but I'd be 4 grand richer for a £5 bet a few weeks ago the Watford one vs Spuds!!! :-(
Vardinio'sCat Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 One of the reasons he bought on de Laet was for height, I guess. Bringing off Okazaki didn't work at all. He made us tick today, I guess a solution to the Mahrez issue was in mind, but I would have hauled him off, not Shinji.
Uncle Monty Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 that was awful. top of the league though... Can totally see this as someone's legit sig in a few years when we are mid table championship.
Lesta2014 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Genuinely think if we had scored the penalty we would of won 3/4-0! That was turning point and from then I new we wouldn't win! Dissapointing result! Have to take Riyad off penalties now cost us wins with the last two! Top of the league and I was really pissed off at the final whistle , can't be bad (annoyance with ref more than anything). Pundits were talking rubbish wasn't deliberate handball, no but he gained advantage from it therefore goal shouldn't of stood! Robbed by ref decisions in 2 of last 3 games, if not for them, we would have 3 wins in a row, no extra game in midweek and a full week for players to rest up, but we haven't, so cheers to the useless men in black for probably ruining our season! And just too add, I would play similar team to one that played spurs in cup last time on Wednesday! Just not ulloa playing!
Crinklyfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Great team spirit sustained us last season and carried over into this one. In previous matches there has been a positive air about City, a willingness to give it their all and expect to win even when behind. I didn't get the feeling that this was the case at Villa. It could be tiredness but it also could be that some players just don't feel it any more. I watched the penalty being taken, Mahrez didn't look positive and on the edge of the box Vardy was stood with his hands on his hips. When the penalty was blocked he didn't move but remained watching with his hands still on his hips. I think that earlier in the season he'd have been tearing in putting pressure on the goalie and defenders. I hope that this isn't the start of a decline in our team spirit because we can kiss goodbye to Europe if that goes.
Master Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Something about playing Villa away that brings out the worst in us. I'm glad it's over. Hopefully they get relegated and we don't have to play them again for years.
Cityfan1995 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Oh boy - what a bunch of dismal jimmies most of you posters are! City were all over them first half then Mahrez decided he'd come the clever cvnt and dummy the goalie. As a mate of mine said - he's disappeared since the Everton game. Perhaps the newspaper headlines and talk of transfer to one of the 'bigger' clubs has gone to his fashionably hair-styled head. If everyone was expecting him and Vards to sustain the streak they were on they're living in cloud-cuckoo land. Ranieri is paid to spot these things and nip 'em in the bud and he took the opportunity to make changes for the cup game..but that's hardly deep strategic thought. The two squads proved themselves at Tottenham - a draw by the subs and a win by the first team. Now half of you are howling that one half of football is the start of the decline. Spurs put more pressure on than the Villa and City soaked it up - both times. Ranieri should tinker a bit more but I think what he needs to do is ensure the Pearson spirit doesn't get dissipated - cos he's been getting the kudos from that ever since he came. There's money and there's a decent sized squad. Grey looked good when he was bought on - Mahrez should have been brought off earlier. Villa have picked up recently but that goal, if not produced from a handball came from a lucky hand, and certainly from a deflection. There were spells in the game wher City were playing close-passing one-touch football that was terrific - maybe not the kind that Iniesta and Xavi used to play but still streets better that ote they've played before. They were also dispossessing Villa players with some ease. Maybe the only thing we're missing is a player with a brain - a Pirlo. Cambiasso pissed off - I think we all thought Inler would slot into his place like a car component - but there are players need longer than others. Some of you are more fickle than Scarlett O'Hara - Andy King's no good, de Laet's not up to it, Ulloa should go - la-la-la-la-la and so it goes on. I watched Leonardo organising the defence at one point - terrific spirit and fight in the bloke. So you doom-and-gloom merchants - what was it they used to say back when O'Neill was in charge - 'Foxes never give up' and 'keep the faith'. We have a team that are making Leicester City special - that hasn't happened for fifteen years. We've set boring, predictable English football on its money-bags head as well. Whatever happens it will have been a hell-of-a-ride come May, Couldn't agree more...
Dickov22 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Ranieri tried to settle for a 0-1 far too early. We need to go back to playing attacking football as its what we do best. Said it Weds and will say it again, Huth is becoming a bit of a liability. He's just too slow. Perspective is required by some fans. We are top of the league! Vardy starting to get fitter I think. Okasaki is also showing signs of why we signed him. Think he's been really good last two games. Drinkwater again did well. Think Ranieri will make some changes for the Stoke game.
Happy Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Shit happens, Stoke will beat Arsenal today here is hoping!
Callabinho Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 The break and miss by Drinky highlights be need for another striker.
breadandcheese Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 After games like these, when we're doing so well this season, it seems churlish to criticise the team, but it was an opportunity wasted. If we had won today, we would have been 11 points clear of West Han in fifth, which would have been pretty much insurmountable. Credit to Villa, they battled and were worthy of a point, but to go 1-0 up against a team struggling with confidence in poor form, should see us close the game out comfortably. Instead we seemed to shoot ourselves in the foot. I think on reflection, Claudio will realise he got the substitutions wrong. The De Laet substitution was baffling, especially when Sissokho was on a yellow card. Surely you have a go at him with a winger like Gray. Ulloa should have done enough to convince Claudio that we need another striker quick sharp. For whatever reason, he's looked like a championship striker too often this season. The penalty was a poor one and I'm sure Mahrez will be gutted about it. He'll be accutely aware that those last two penalty misses have cost us 4 points so I'm hopeful he puts in a big performance next game.
Weller in Tights Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Yeah a bit disappointed about yesterday's result, but after watching the highlights on MOTD were we really bad? Or was it a case of fine margins? If Mahrez had scored that penalty I think we would have gone on to give them a spanking. As it was, even with the missed penalty clearly giving Villa a boost, we still had the better chances in the game. We're top of the league, lets get behind the team massively, do our bit to help the team.
Brizzle Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Something about playing Villa away that brings out the worst in us. I'm glad it's over. Hopefully they get relegated and we don't have to play them again for years. At least we got one more point than usual there! I suspect we'll see claudio make a couple of changes for Stoke. We look a tad jaded
Matt Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Yeah a bit disappointed about yesterday's result, but after watching the highlights on MOTD were we really bad? Or was it a case of fine margins? As it was, even with the missed penalty clearly giving Villa a boost, we still had the better chances in the game. We're top of the league, lets get behind the team massively, do our bit to help the team. 1st half no, we were the better side by far, we never looked like getting anything but a win, 2nd half fuck knows what happened, they were all over us and we let them, when if we just shown abit of attacking flair we could have controlled the game easy, but no we decided to sit back further and further, Villa deserved to get a draw in the 2nd half, if not the win and I wouldn't say it was down to them playing well, but down to us letting them play well.
whoareyaaa Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Not read the thread still frustrated from yesterday, wasted oppurtunity and 2 points well and truly dropped. For me the turning point was bringing on Riche ****ing De lat with half an hour to go. Terrible peno from Marhez, that goes in they would have crumbled. 3 points against Stoke will make up for it. MOTM Drinkwater deserved a goal.
Livid Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We look tired to me, which worries me more than yesterday's performance.
