Captain... Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Wenger, Wellbeck, Walcott...I hate anyone with a W. Wasilewski?
Koke Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 On a different note, that's how you take a penalty. I hope Vardy stays on as the main penalty taker.
foxfanazer Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Wenger really is despicable. Can't wait for them to bottle it.......Again!
filbertway Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 It's weird how the Premier League thread wasn't full of posts about Arsenal before today. Surely pretty much everybody knew exactly what they are like... or do people on here only watch games involving Leicester? The best thing about yestderday was that Schmeichel timed his clearance against Ramsey correctly. Imagine having Schwarzer playing! I really hope we keep this squad and strengthen it properly in the summer. We have such a good base but the cover is incredibly weak. If we lose any of Vardy, Kanté, Mahrez, Schmeichel, Wes/Huth we will be severely weakened.
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 I was a bit dissapointed with Ranieris tactics and formation after the red. No doubt we could match them tactically and had a great chance for the win 11 v 11.... but then we just used the wrong gameplan with 10 men. Arsenal went all in at the end with 4 strikers and playing the same shape and leaving Vardy up just didn't work. What it did show was the the role Okazaki plays is essential. Just in front of the midfield four breaking up and disrupting the passing. With the massive gap in between midfield and vardy their attacks were just began straight away.... i think Ranieri should have told Vardy to just play on the half way line and just do thge okazaki role of diusrupting their attacks.... if we manage an intercept our players are moe closer and with pace of vardy we could cause problems. With Vardy occupying the space further ahead they just by passed him and then encountered our two banks of 4 very easily. Hopefully this will be a big learning curve for the players and ranieri.... he knows who he can rely on when the pressure comes.
ScouseFox Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 If we lose any of Vardy, Kanté, Mahrez, Schmeichel, Wes/Huth we will be severely weakened. quite unbelievably compared to about 6 months ago, you can also add danny simpson to that list.

Only thing I'd question is the order...Wasilewski for Okazaki would mean straight into 4-4-1 and then Gray can come on as a like for like if need be.
The Doctor Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Conspiracy theories but did Atkinson get a visit from a premier league official at halftime and be told stop little Leicester at any cost they can't win the premier league it will be an embarrassment to the money men of football? Of course not - did he get it in the ear from the arsenal fans and wenger because he was refereeing properly rather than handing them the game? Definitely. Not match fixing, just a weak willed ref unable to stand up for himself and his profession
filbertway Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 quite unbelievably compared to about 6 months ago, you can also add danny simpson to that list. Was thinking that, worth throwing him on the list. Though I'm hoping Amartey will turn out to be better than him.

Only thing I'd question is the order...Wasilewski for Okazaki would mean straight into 4-4-1 and then Gray can come on as a like for like if need be. hindsight is brilliant... but looking back Mahrez despite being the least effective defensive player.... while still being on the pitch would worry Arsenal much more and would assist our defending by keeping at least two Arsenal defenders occupied at a time.... and if they left him they know him and vardy would cause havoc. So while Mahrez was the obvious choice to take off when down to 10 men as he's seen a bit as a "luxury" player.... now looking back would have been interesting if he stayed on. Bringing him off also brought a different mindset to the team which was we will only defend and hoof long balls to vardy to chase. Wrong tactics, looking back now. Vardy should have dropped into Okazakis role and our 4-4-1 would have been more compact. Ranieri knows when we have two banks of 4 with no more than 20m between the banks, we are hard to breakdown.... but he also should have told Vardy to drop a bit deeper to be closer to the midfield bank rather than isolated up top. Well, at least Ranieri will hopefully learn from this experiance.
zak_lcfc Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Having time to reflect I am not as annoyed as I was yesterday, I think the players will be dissappointed but they'll see the positives in the game playing against anyone with 10 men is hard and better teams have gone to the Emirates and lost such as Bayern this season! The pressure and media attention will move to North London and our lads get a nice break whilst the other teams have to play games, looking forward to us putting in a good performance against Noriwch in 12 days time
Monsell1976 Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 They say cheats never prosper but after what I witnessed yesterday on another good day out is beyond reproach? To me it is or was blatantly obvious that someone or something got to the referee at half time yesterday. He went from refereeing the game sensibly to being a card raving junkie after halftime both the Arsenal players, set up, home crowd got to him. Annoyingly, his actions changed the course of the game. First half for all Arsenals huff and puff our goal was not threatened no shots on target in 45 minutes. Second half begins and Arsenal players and crowd start berating the referee at every decision. He starts producing cards everytime a Leicester player is involved in any tackle or anytime an Arsenal player falls to the floor. I still don't think Simpsons first foul on Sanches warranted a card at all I thought he stood his ground and got the ball. Win at any costs Arsenal players certainly attributed to that. Why wasn't Coquelin booked for blatantly pushing assaulting Mahrez when he was walking off the pitch after being subbed? That would have been another yellow and a red but Atkinson didn't want the home crowd on his back. We were denied a blatant second penalty too Mahrez was tripped in the box. It was inevitable eventually they would win and they did. Conspiracy theories but did Atkinson get a visit from a premier league official at halftime and be told stop little Leicester at any cost they can't win the premier league it will be an embarrassment to the money men of football? Did cross my mind, but that's my suspicious mind, we will see if we get the rub of the green or shafted in the last 12 games.

I don't think it calls for breaking out the tinfoil like that - I think he's just started to doubt himself over the penalty or the sequence that led to it and Arsenal's whinging got to him a bit as a result. It's not the kind of mistakes that look deliberate, he just bottled it on a bunch of things.
st albans fox Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 seriously, lets not get into these 'conspiracy theories'. if anything, scudamore wants us or spurs to win the PL as it makes it much more marketable being less predictable. Atkinson simply did what most refs do when they have given a contentious decision to the away team and evened it up later. Claudio must have stressed this at half time. simpson is an experienced pro who should have known when to keep his arms to himself, given the context.

I came to this thread to post just that. After some reflection, this might not be the worst thing that could have happened. Now, all of the pressure is on Arsenal and Spurs, while we get to plug away at the task at hand with less media hype and attention.
weller54 Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 I'LL LOVE IT! LOVE IT.. WHEN BARCELONA SMASH THE CVNTS OFF THE PARK NEXT WEEK!!!!
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 I'LL LOVE IT! LOVE IT.. WHEN BARCELONA SMASH THE CVNTS OFF THE PARK NEXT WEEK!!!! I wouldn't mind seeing that too.... but what i would love is for them to have a man harshly sent off with Barca players rolling around play acting and waving imaginery yellow cards. Then have two goals conceded in the last 5 minutes of injury time where the referee add two extra minutes to give Barca a chance to score. Their victim mentality will be their downfall.... not that I feel Leicester are victims of some conspiracy or anything like that
Voll Blau Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Ok then calm down a bit. First you said it was awful today, I was in the centre on row 22, it wasn't awful, if anything songs were being song while other pockets were singing another song at the same time. This happened a lot and unless you're going to have a conductor stood at the front with his stick will always happen when the away end stretches over a fairly long distance from one side to the other. Those over 70 year olds you refer too would've been at the Etihad like me, Goodison, Hawthorns etc so just because you thought the away end was poor, while at other grounds it was good, these are always there and why do they have to stand all game? If they want to sit they can, like wise if they don't want to sing, it's their choice and not yours or anyone's. Vardy had to physically gesture to our end twice to sing up. If that's not a sign it was a pretty wank end, then I don't know what is.
Guest MattP Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Considering the amazing things that are happening this season our away ends are incredibly bad in terms of noise. One of the old dears on the front row yesterday whipped out a sandwich as a corner was going into the box.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 One of the old dears on the front row yesterday whipped out a sandwich as a corner was going into the box. Is that a euphemism?

One of the old dears on the front row yesterday whipped out a sandwich as a corner was going into the box. I think I prefer that to the endless amount of fans taking their frickin phones out whenever we get a corner....why do you need to view the moment through your camera? If you want a video of it MOTD do a great job.
Matt Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Whilst we all want Barca to smash Arsenal and whilst I don't wish harm on anyone perhaps give one or two of their players a reason to be rolling around all over the pitch. But in reality we want Arsenal to have some very tough, tiring games against Barca but for Arsenal to stay in the competition meaning more games and more things to focus on (Prem, CL, FA Cup).
weller54 Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Gutless referee won the game for Arsenal.. NOT their overpaid, whingeing bunch of players... Mahrez was fouled and it was a nailed on second penalty... Then it was all over.. Referee is a complete and utter cvnt and disgrace!
