Leicester will win the title but I would be dishonest if I said I would be happy for everyone…

Bitter old mentalist

I always think the worst bitterness is where you praise the current players, praise the current manager and want the club to be successful.

I still don't buy this "Pearson deserves loads of praise for this seasons antics" crap that people say.

Ranieri is the polar opposite of Pearson, ruling not by fear but by compassion.

I think Pearson's getting more praise than he deserves, you have to face the facts that we were in a mess for 3/4 of the season last year, and he failed to sort that out. By some divine miracle somehow we got out of it.

So, he sorted it out and you actually put the credit elsewhere.

Textbook media tactic of taking one sniff of a quote and making the whole thing out to be a lot worse than it was although I suppose the fact he gave them that quote kind of sums up some of his shortcomings in that area - at the same time I do think it's probably more in his nature to be straight up and honest and this won't particularly bother him.

I'd hazard a guess it's aimed at Rudkin. Don't think it would be aimed at any player or Ranieri.

Pearson inherited an abject mess when he returned. He built a strong foundation at the club - excellent scouting network, signed lots of young hungry players, developed an incredible team spirit, won promotion in a fantastic season, kept them up etc. Should always take credit for that.

A better manager, with loads more top flight experience, has now kicked us on to a different level.

It's possible for us as fans to be thankful for what he did and to be grateful for what the new man has done.

I don't think he's said much wrong in this article to be honest.

Good post.

Pearson did a good job, took us as far as he could, now Claudio is moving us on

Pretty much my thinking. Pearson implemented the model (and he did it here before, and at Hull, so I've reason to believe that statement) and Ranieri's cleverly used it and taken it to another level. I've got a lot of time for what both have done here and I don't think either should be discredited.

I don't believe all that. Daily Mail can fvck off.

However, if he did say it, then does anybody blame him? How would you feel getting sacked after doing a superb job? I'm guessing you'd hold grudges.

I'll always have mixed feelings toward Pearson. He got us back on the map..The lad did great.

But I could never warm to him as a bloke, as I've said before. And the stuff he did prior to getting sacked was bizarre.

That said, he should now be back in work and he'll be a success all over again I believe.

You can debate the playing side all day long from both sides.

But Pearson helped to build the club behind the scenes. That we should be in debt for. First manager we had for years who came with a plan; sports science and scouting for example. Absolutely incredible

Pearson needs to stop dwelling back on his past here and more think about getting himself a new job. Yeah Pearson has done a lot for this club and been part of Leicester success this season to, but I think the guy needs to move on.

Manager wise Pearson is a good boss, but as a person he comes across as a nasty piece of work. He comes across as someone who is a bit of a big head who his happy to criticise people but won't accept it himself.

I know this is FT and lots of people can only see in black or white. But the real world isn’t like that.  Whether you think Pearson deserves “Loads” of praise, “some” praise or a “little bit” of praise really doesn’t matter. Praise doesn’t come in metric measures that you can distribute evenly to different people! Just because Pearson is praised doesn’t diminish the amount of praise you’re allowed to give to Ranieri! :D

Try and look at it another way:

If Ranieri had taken over at West Brom at the start of this season, do you think he would have taken them to the top of the Premiership? I’m fairly certain most people will think not.  In which case it’s a fairly obvious logical step to conclude that the previous set-up at the club had some part in our current success.

I think people should remember the last game we played under Sven. We lost 0-3 at home to Millwall with a team of overpaid, aging players who did not give a flip about LCFC and who moaned in the papers when they weren’t in the starting 11. That was the situation Pearson picked up.

We’re now top of the League.

Seems to be a lot less praising of Ranieri

Whatever you think of NP, his article is spot on. I, for one, will never forget what he did for us. Forget what you think of him as a person, his antics, or his interviews, anyone who dismisses what he did for Leicester City should remember the terrible position he inherited.  I also don't think Walsh and Shakespere have received the credit they deserve either (under either manager).

Obviously we will never know how we would have done this season with NP as manager, so whilst I have great respect for the way Ranieri has managed us so far, and conducted himself, we have yet to see how things will go when the team NP built is broken up, or players leave, or retire.

I'm not in any way being critical of Ranieri, but apart from Kante, every player in our current first team was signed under the NP regime, and don't forget it was NP who brought Shakespere & Walsh here too.

Ranieri could turn out to be the best, and most successful, manager in our history. I certainly hope so, but whatever he achieves, before you dismiss NP, ask yourself would he have done so without the incredible work NP did before he joined?

If we were where Villa are now, would people 1) be pining for Nigel to return given the job he did last season, or 2) blaming him for our demise?

Have we had a lot of injuries? Has Claudio Ranieri decided to leave before the season even started? Have Mahrez and Vardy been injured all season. Did Kanté turn out to be a sunday league player conning a living?

Has Ranieri profited from the set up Pearson left us with at the end of last season?  Of course he has.

Has Ranieri taken us to another level due to his superior tactical knowledge over Pearson?  Of course he has.

Both have proved to be a good fit for us at the stage the club was/is currently at.

Leave it at that.

Absolutely unbelievable, a fantastic two page spread and honest interview and the Mail picks on that one quote.
