ramadaone Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 I'd take the 8 million and go spend the rest of my days living with penguins, but what's the club doingThe club are not being held to ransom by his Agent
Richmondfox Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Bid of £8M in and wages greater than we are offering What would you do ? Is this Liverpool? If he is out of contract in June (according to Transfer markt) why would a club bid put a bid in now? I know we'll get money from a Tribunal fee but Ings who was proven to a level went for a lower amount than he is worth. If he and his agents are playing hard ball with the club at this early stage in his career then cut him loose. In reality he is pretty unproven and hasn't earned a big pay increase yet, give it till January. He has experience from his time on loan and may be confident with the ball going forward, during his chance to step up in the cup game his basic defensive mistake cost us a goal. He knows what the club is about and what he they can offer him, if he feels he can offer another club more and get higher wages then good luck. I hope he stays as he can learn a lot about defending from Claudio and Fuchs and attacking from Albrighton/Mahrez.

Money at his age shouldn't be the primary thing. Yes if we are offering him £200 per week then I wouldn't blame him for leaving but I would imagine he is on a good enough wage and we have offered him a good increase for a young talent who has only made a few cup appearances. Use this time to develop and prove yourself, then after you have had a full season of consistent football you can request higher wages. I wonder what players like Vardy and Mahrez will think as they would have loved to have been in his position, hopefully they will have a few words maybe about his future?
reynard Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Bid of £8M in and wages greater than we are offering What would you do ? Take it. If he doesn't want to be here then there's no point in trying to keep him here. However, before accepting I'd try and hang in there for 10million.
NGoloMode Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 His contract ends this summer.. no bid is needed. He's going for free if he doesn't sign. Or am I wrong. Can we confirm this?
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Bid of £8M in and wages greater than we are offering What would you do ? Snap their hand off but would definitely be wanting add-ons for England appearances etc
Claudio Fannieri Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Bid of £8M in and wages greater than we are offering What would you do ? Drive him there .....£8m is fantastic fee for what is an untried youngster with a decent amount of potential but is not good enough to start and who's to say he will fulfill that potential. Too good to turn down particularly when you can see his head has been turned.
Benguin Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 10k a week now and a ruined career or 5k a week now and a great chance to develop?
lcfcsnow Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Looks like he's been practicing for next season's dressing room photo at Arsenal
TheMightySystem Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 can the club tell him to sack his agent? Can do and wish he would but its his decision in the end. As I said earlier I hope Mahrez talks to him about how he chose to play for lower teams rather then go for the big moves and because of it he is PFA player of the year and getting lots of money after being patient (As lets be honest if he is looking to go to Arsenal its not for game time as he will be more likely to get it with us)
lgfualol Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Would that £8m make Chilwell our 2nd biggest sale? If we do sell him, although disappointing it would be a good amount. Chuck some add-ons on top and yeah.
Guest Manini Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 He comes across really well in interviews, I'd be quite disappointed if he went, seems a talent. He was about the best player on the pitch against Spurs in the cup, I think he'd do well here if he stays.
dylanlegend Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 8m really? Maybe he isn't new mattock then.. Probably the new Calum Chambers! To be fair I'd love to keep Fuchs till he is 34 or so he's quality and will be difficult to replace
Poznan34 Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Chilwell seems very highly thought of (invited to train with England first team), it would be a shame to lose a talented academy graduate.
HankMarvin Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Isn't it a tribunal if his under 21 and his contract expires?
foxoffderby Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Leaving for U21 duty? Remember Julian Joachim in this many years ago. Really made a name for himself
Richard Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 If they're bidding £8m now he'll go for at least that in tribunal with another years experience
Grewks Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 The funny thing is, if we finished mid-table , i think he would've signed a new deal as i'm sure ranieri would've given him game time. It looks like our overacheivement may result in him leaving.
Grewks Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Isn't it a tribunal if his under 21 and his contract expires? I believe it is under 23. Source - Currently playing FM
foxes21 Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Wouldn't he be getting alot of game time here anyway? We are going to have to rotate quite alot each week?
ian_marshall Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 If the rumours are true it says a lot about the kid's personality and typifies the new generation of young footballers who seem to have a sense of entitlement without actually doing anything. Who in their right mind would want to leave right now given the situation that we find ourselves in?!? Surely signing a new contract and going out on loan for a few seasons to another PL club to gain experience would be more beneficial if a) he doesn't think he's capable of dislodging Fuchs right now, and b) he wants first team football. If the lad can't see that whilst Fuchs is an incredible footballer, age isn't on his side and at some point in the future we'll require a replacememt which he'll inevitably be if he sticks around then I'm not so sure he's the right person for our club. Should he move on it'd be a great shame and good luck to him if he genuinely feels that such a move would be in his best interests.
Ric Flair Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I'm sorry but unless he's bein offered £30,000 a week somewhere we should be matching most offers. Schlupp was on £18,000 a week in the championship after only playing about 5 games. We shouldn't simply brush this over as no big deal, this lad must stay. £8 million gets you fcuk all these days. We don't need the money.

We don't need the money. Well we always could do with the money and you can't let someone who is a squad player dictate to you. If we did get £8m for him that's not bad business as he might be the next Mattock or Stearman and not the next Ashley Cole. I think it would be a bad decision for him to leave with only the 30 year old Fuchs in his way to the first team. He could end up at Arsenal or Liverpool and find a much harder path to the first team and a year down the line they spend £25m on a 24 year old left back. If he stays at Leicester he'll get his fair share of first team football this coming season and if he's good enough he could end up as first choice left back this time next year. Fuchs is only getting older and will decline and Chilwell is getting older and improving. At some point Chilwell becomes the better left back but it's all in his hands.
