lgfualol Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 If we lost him, I wonder if we'll target Mings at Bournemouth if he's not totally broken. Cant see that happening, I think he'll want to stay and Bournemouth wont sell for less than they overpaid for him. I could see us bringing in a mid-20s left back for a good price.
Grewks Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 There's no system at all for putting youth players into the team in this country what so ever. The financial stakes are that high that clubs just won't take the risk. Another thing that holds back the national team. I agree with the above I'd actually start Chilwell this weekend, well, if he does have any intention of staying that is. There is the loan system. Isn't used enough imo. Maybe the FA could introduce some rule about no loan window for home grown players and no limit for how many clubs a season they can play for.
Foxxed Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 If I were his agent, I'd spread rumours of him leaving, rumours of his small paycheck, get big clubs interested and delay contract negotiations until the very last minute. Then tell LCFC's representative, 12 hours until he's a free agent, that I have Arsenal, Liverpool et al's potential contract right here, and then demand they break their own payscale for him, or lose him. If I were LCFC, assuming the agent had already tried to break the payscale, I'd be tempted to call the agent's bluff, knowing that even if he leaves, he'd unlike walk into the left back roll, and would get the same game time as at LCFC: i.e. whenever we need to rotate with our champions league and cup games. This is probably Chilwell's agent trying to increasing his own paycheck, rather than Chilwell itching desire to put on a red and white shirt. We'll probably have to wait until 12 hours until contract expiration before we know. Fun!

TrentFox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I don't personally see Chilwell being first choice anywhere in the PL next season, with the possible exception of the promoted teams. If Fuchs got injured, I'd prefer Schluppp's experience and pace. He's a prospect. No doubt. But he needs to play. Just don't see it happening here to the degree I suspect he wants. Impasse.

WigstonWanderer Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Get the impression from the few times I've seen him play that he would prefer to be a more attacking full back, whereas our current mode of play requires a more "defence first" style of player. Perhaps this is unsettling him and accounts for his previous comments regarding playing styles.
TrentFox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Claudio is on public record stating that Chilwell is fuchs' back up and not Jeff.It was my opinion, not Claudio's. I cannot speak for him on anything. Although, to be fair, I'd pay far more attention to his than mine !
Merging Cultures Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 He just posted a pic in Instagram of him getting the ball from CR with the caption, ups and downs but great season. I'm sorry but you've been second fiddle to the Austrian captain, and we've won the league. That is only up. He's a kid. Yes he is good and has potential. Next year and the year after he'll break through. But seems a bit arrogant if this year was 'up and down'.

Tielemans63 Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 If he doesn't want to stay then **** him. It's not like we've struggled without him in the side. LCFC is not going to fall apart if he decides to leave, it would be a shame but not a disaster.

NewEnglandFox Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 I think there is a mentality with these younger kids that they want a move so they can have a transfer value. Chilwell is no more likely to get games in top half of the Prem side here or anywhere else. I remember seeing a tweet by one of the Huddersfield town guys when he came back saying that he hopes he gets a big move in the summer and hoping he'd go back on loan. I can't find that tweet anymore but I think we've lost him. And if we've already lost him, no reason to convince him to stay.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 If he wants to go then let him. Choudry is the better prospect anyway imo and plays in a more pivotal position.
TheMightySystem Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 What's annoying me the most is that we have bought him through extremely well. Included him in the trophy ceremony without him making a single league appearance, he won U21 player of the year, had cheek to say he hasn't played much for U21s (whilst true how shit must that make other u21s feel), given him a solid offer of 20K per week allegedly and will no doubt give him game time next season, yet it appears we haven't done enough for him. What more does he expect?
Jakemoore Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 "Up and down"? What the fvck I repeat, Joe Mattock mk2. He could easily be talking about his time out on loan. Or the fact that he wasn't allowed to go back out on loan. He seems a decent enough lad to me..
HighPeakFox Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I think one or two of us might be a little quick to judge.
dannythefox Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 No talk of a new contract or anything wouldn't be surprised if he left. Don't think should go anywhere to be fair he's next in line for left back if Fuchs get injured or anything.
Ric Flair Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I also think not giving him any game time in recent weeks suggests the state of things.
chicagofox Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I also think not giving him any game time in recent weeks suggests the state of things. Or it shows professionalism from our management team to continue to select our best left-back.
Ric Flair Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Or it shows professionalism from our management team to continue to select our best left-back. A couple of brief sub appearances in the last 2 games wouldn't have done anyone any harm. Fuchs plays at LCB for the country he captains so he could have even gone alongside Morgan and allowed Chilwell some much needed first team experience.
Gerard Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I also think not giving him any game time in recent weeks suggests the state of things. I thought that myself. Considering a popular opinion is that he will take Fuch's position in the next year or two it's strange he didn't play yesterday considering how highly rated he supposed to be and with Fuchs having a long season and the Euros coming up. Possibly it's because Ranieri knows he won't be here long so pointless helping his development? I think he probably would have played if he had committed to the club but I may be well off the mark.
