Vardy

The Telegraph are saying he wont make a decision until post euros - Arsenal have been informed

Great, so I can't cheer Vardy on in case he does brilliantly or watch him in the hope his cruciate snaps.

Purgatory.

I think the longer this drags out, the more likely he will return to us next season. I'm sure he felt like the prettiest girl at the dance when Arsenal came courting, but after time and reflection, he may decide that he is happy where he is. If he made a decision just days after Arsenal offered, it would likely be very bad for us. But i can't see him deciding a month from now that he's gonna move.

Why should we beg him to stay. If he wants to go just go. I want him to stay but this is boring now.

If he's not committed then fine offload him.

Would prefer him to stay though.

If you find it boring why have you added to it?

Sensible from Vardy to delay decision - ensures all factors in his favour for making a decision, including knowing more about the position of other players in the squad.

He may also be hoping to flush out some further interest from elsewhere if he performs well at the Euro's - I could his game suiting an Italian club such as Juve for example.

So his wife wants the high profile life and you think he'd go to Italy?

Literally who watches the Italian league? Even the Italians don't like it!

Still feels like a bit of a panic buy from Wenger and the longer this goes on and the more time he has to reflect on this will test how much he actually wants Vardy.

This is what I feel Vardy is holding out for now - If the deal is there after the Euros it means he'll probably be the main man at Arsenal if not he's managed to get an upgraded contract from Leicester.

He's in a win win situation.

Arsenal seem to be keen to bring players in early though, they could move on to other targets. If we keep Mahrez and Kante up to the point he has to make a decision it makes staying far more likely IMO. But, If he thinks Kante or Mahrez are going then he will almost certainly leave.

Exactly this. He is keeping his options open which is sensible. Everyone knows the transfer fee and he is effectively a free agent. No point committing his future to one club or another. Fwiw i think he would rather stay at lcfc than go to Arse but he is clearly open to offers.

Sorry chaps I do not agree that we must wait for him. We have to have contingent plans in place NOW. No Player is bigger than the Club. I will probably get crucified for suggesting this but, if I were Top, I would get on the blower to his Fvcking agent and say answer within 24 hours please. If we do not here back, our counter offer is withdrawn. Then we can close this frigging thread and create another 100 pager on who we should get in. I cannot believe King Power would allow their business to be conducted in this way.

Vardy wouldn't want to commit and then find that we sell Mahrez and Kante and struggle to bring in any top quality. But he is taking a risk as an injury in the euros scuppers any big payday.

Agreed. Although isn't he having surgery straight after the euros anyway? On his wrist, not too vital I guess. A 2 month injury lay off for example would certainly make moving a lot less likely. However, I do seem to remember Wenger signing Kim Kallstrom with a broken spine not long ago.

Agree - if United, City, and possibly even Chelsea or Liverpool had got to the stage of putting a contract in front of him i think he would have signed there and then.

Arsenal however, have got themselves into a funny 'bridge club' position akin to Spurs. Too many players have moved from them to progress up the ladder in recent years - and the top players that have joined them have done so to take a step down from bigger clubs to re-establish careers.

As a player - you'd have to have a bit of doubt about moving to Arsenal.

We should forget about the Vardy situation now and go shopping anyway, can't sit around waiting for him only to then miss out on all our targets on deadline day as usual.

Suited to the Italian game? Have you ever watched Italian football?

Exactly the outcome no-one wanted but the one that was so blatantly going to happen. Brilliant

We can still make our own preparations in the back ground, plus with the Euro's and Copa America going on a lot of transfer moves will be in flux anyway.

Patience and persistence is a quality that will get you far in a transfer market - just like it did for us with Esteben and N'G.

An ultimatum would be the worst move we could make in our position (in my opinion), especially if that back fired into making Vardy later feel he'd been pushed into staying when in hindsight he should have left.

The club doesn't involved around 1 player, even if Vardy is trying to make this situation this way.

I'm sure the club are moving on, and so should the fans.

Yeah, 38 times last year!

Do you not think he has a Scalatchi, Flippo, Ravenllei type quality about his play?

Italian teams love nippy, intelligent, assassin like strikers - hence why we've been linked with a fair few coming to us!

Personally if I were Vardy I'd sign a new Leicester contract now and not delay .... I'm not convinced Woy is going to get the best out of him, or England have a decent tournament ..... he may well be at the peak of his valuation right now.

Superpippo just used to wander around the six yard box for loose balls to toepoke in to open goals.

Hardly Vardy like.

Don't most release clauses have a validity period? Does anyone know the time frame within which it can be triggered?

Only if one is written in.

The qualification in the Vardy clause that we know of only seems to relate to the type of club that can trigger it (i.e. a club that is 'in' the champions league).

But without having the full contract to read, all that can be done is speculate, so on your point - I speculate there is no 'time period'.
