Arriba Los Zorros Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Don't sell Jeff! In the little game time he got last season he showed how much he has come on and has added technical attributes to his raw pace and power. I've done a complete U-turn on him, really think he's going to turn into a top player. Would be very sad to see him go and do so elsewhere!

Nick Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Jeff doesn't want to play left back - he wants to be a winger or a forward. I don't think he'll go anywhere.
crisp packet Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 We don't need the money, 12m is pitiful. Jordan Ibe 15m Robbie Brady 20m. Just no.

West Brom don't really have the capability to unsettle our players, it's not like an Arsenal bidding three times for Mahrez.
nnfox Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 I don't want Jeff to go. He can be infuriatingly bad at times but when he is good, he is such a dangerous player. I have never known a player to be so brilliant and so bad within 5 minutes of the same game. Last season he didn't get as many minutes on the pitch as I'm sure he would have liked but he was more consistent when he did get on. In addition, towards the back end of the season when the regulars were getting tired, in particular Mahrez, Jeff coming on gave the crowd a lift, gave the team a lift and usually scared the opposition. I just hope he is happy here being an impact sub because that is his best position.
Rob1742 Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 I think there is now a good chance this will happen now that the Polish lad looks like he is coming in. And, unfortunately it needs to happen to send a message out that we are not going to offer stupid money to every player that knocks on the door. The new keeper looks decent, so again it will send a message out that you are replaceable. Jeff is ace, he's a great lad, but we have to put a halt on paying crazy money to players, as it looks like we will be out of line with other clubs our size.
Gerard Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 53 minutes ago, dylanlegend said: To be fair... I think this just highlights how difficult Rudkins job is this summer. 12m is a decent amount of money and you've got to take into account he may want £60k a week now he is a PL champion. WBA are probably wiling to make him one of their highest earners, many of these transfers are starting by the agents looking for a better deal, look at Kasper £80k a week is ludicrous really. We have to make sure we don't pay over the odds for our current players. I.e. Reports we are paying Wes £70k a week hopefully are untrue, he's a great player but not 70k a week, we have to take into account what other clubs would pay 70k a week for Wes? We have to try to pay players what they are worth, if Liverpool want to pay £80k a week to DD and we feel he is important we need to get near this figure, as with Mahrez etc. But if Sunderland are the only team interested in Danny Simpson for example this doesn't mean we need to pay Simpson 50k a week- as if Sunderland would offer this? All the stick we give Rudkin but at the minutes he probably has the hardest job in football, trying to balance the books while keeping existing players happy with other clubs lurking to sign our PL champions and offer them silly money. For example if WBA are willing to offer Schlupp 80k a week then we have no choice but to sell, we shouldn't be competing with that for a player like Schlupp, if WBA / Everton / Sunderland want to pay these inflated wages it just shows how badly many other clubs in our league run their football club / transfer policy. Couldn't agree more, I don't mind paying our really key players market value and a bit above, players like Mahrez, Vardy, Schmeichel, Drinkwater and I'd put Morgan in that category too. The rest of them should get no more than there market worth as at some point we'll probably try and offload our next level of players and a mid table team might be interested in paying them 50k a week but they're here on £80k a week and don't want to take the drop in wages. Back on topic and I like Schlupp as a player but when we get offered £10m+ for players not in the first XI we should be seriously considering these offers. If we have faith in our scouting it's an ideal opportunity to make some money without making ourselves much weaker and bring in another player who maybe could upgrade the first team.
Tielemans63 Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Absolute no-brainer. Jeff that is. Not so sure whether we should sell him though.

And his brain probably halves that, If we seriously get 12million for Schulpp I thinki it's our best business ever, even more so if it means we don't have to pay him a fortune. I don't think it will go well for him though, when he goes to a club with an impatient crowd on the back of a large fee where he's not treated as a homegrown comedy act he'll get some serious stick when he starts to do some of the things that make us laugh, if he's actually at left back then god help him.

I just can't imagine him ever being a defender in a Pulis team.
Max Power Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Didn't he feature in every game he was fit for last season? A season where we won the league? Hes a great option to have and £12m is taking the piss in this market. Why sell, we don't need the money

It's absolutely baffling what he's looking at to be honest, doesn't Pulis usually play four centre backs across the back four? I don't think Schulpp got through 90 mins for us at this level at LB without being responsible for a goal.
ozleicester Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Geebus, are we STILL worrying about how much we pay our players... Dilly Ding...Dilly Dong, we are champions league man... cmonnnn

I was being semi serious about Bamba and Knockaert, I want an element of chaos in my football. I love Jeff, he's nothing if not entertaining. Same as Shinji. I mean, man basically scored against the Geordies with his dish. Heroic. Imagine how soulless and sterile it must be watching Chelsea or Tottenham every week? I don't want that.
Guest MattP Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 I can understand the comedy value but it won't be funny when he does what he did against Chelsea on the last day of the season in the Champions League Quarter Final, or doesn't get the luck he got after somehow cocking up the Ulloa goal v Swansea It's 12 million quid for a player we widely view as a brainless figure of fun, of course we take it.
Babylon Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 I wouldn't take it, despite his faults he ticks the home grown box, can cover multiple positions and despite his lack of finesse, he causes defenders nightmares with his pace and power.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Jeffs assets, age, pace, power and flexibility make him far more valuable than a paltry £12,000,000. I still believe he is improving and it could all click in place and we'd have a world beater on our hands. Let's also not forget Pulis is no mug!
Bazly Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 I seem to be one of the few who thinks Schlupp could be a big part of Leicester's future. Maybe that means its going to be a bad future? He has important assets of pace and flexibility to fill various positions. That's an incredible asset from the bench if subs are short or if someone gets taken off injured or red carded. If he could improve his work around the opposition box where shooting and passing are a bit wayward he would be a fantastic player. I'm a keeper on Schlupp. The only concern I have is the number of African players joining Leicester is going to make a real dint in the team come the Africa Nations Cup comp.

Personally I'd want to keep him, his raw pace and power are such a good weapon for us when we need to change the game. The only argument for selling him to me is the wages we'll have to pay to keep him.

Pay the players what they are worth but we need to be careful we don't overpay them. Instead of looking purely at transfer fees like us fans do, the club will need to consider the whole package (wages is the biggest expenditure of any football club). Hopefully Schlupp will stay but not try and cash in on our success with inflated wage demands.
