Anish Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 We definitely missed Kante. I only caught the second half but there were a number of through passes straight through our midfield from the United defenders, which Kante would have gobbled up last season or blocked. We need to shore up that aspect of our game. We weren't great but neither were United. The defence looked shaky too but then the number of changes wouldn't have helped. I'd like to see Gray and Mendy start next week. I'd stick with Shinji simply because of his work rate and the fact that he will tire out the defenders for Musa to then take advantage of later in the game.

Pretty even contest and that's quite remarkable when you consider the pretty uneven costs of the two teams. I've not seen anything today that makes me worry about Leicester finishing in a respectable position. Manchester United must be favourites for the league. I'd be surprised if they were in the running for the title. Absolutely not favourites. Their problem is a lack of pace and they're yet to inject any.
pazzerfox Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Mahrez was poor today, Albrighton was worse though. He looked like he has put on 2 stones in weight and was a yard off the pace! Lingard would not have scored the firt goal if Kante had been on the pitch.
sm1 Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Slightly disappointed because I think we handed them the game by taking both our fullbacks off. The midfield is still a problem, neither king nor mendy really did enough to cement a place. I'm surprised Ranieri hasn't played Amartey there alongside Danny in preseason.. On a positive Musa, Gray and Vardy looked great. Love to see us play 433 with those three upfront.
GingerrrFox Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Been saying it for about 4 years but Kingy and Drinky can't play together. Never have been able to play together in a 2 and never will. People can say I am wrong but it's my opinion. Mendy looked much better when he came on, still think that Amartey is the best option to play alongside Drinky in the long term. He has all the attributes and his height is an added bonus at set pieces. Gray has to start next week, as does Musa. The 4 of Mahrez, Musa, Vardy and Gray will scare teams shitless. Exciting for the future.
UPinCarolina Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Damn, some posters in this thread haven't been heard from in a while. Welcome back lads.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Just got back to the hotel in Bloomsbury. My tuppeneth: 1. Great atmosphere, baking hot where we sat for the whole game so much so the view wasn't the best cos of the current bun shining at our end for the whole game. 2. The beverages are a rip off. No surprise there, but a fiver for two glasses of water is taking the piss. 3. Utd were typical Utd... Slow build up play, but pretty composed. Wooney running around and doing nothing. It had to be big Ibra with the fookin winner didn't it! 4. Us...I'm worried a little. We'll win plenty of games but the midfield worries me. God know how the lad ran through for the first goal and that wouldn't have happened last season. Someone would have got a toe in. Albrighton was very poor first half, King remains very average at this level and Mahrez needs to stop pissing about and shoot! Mendy's passing range needs working on. On the plus side, Vardy remains dangerous, there were glimpses of things to come from Gray and we actually created the best chances. I knew we'd miss Kante.... All academic I know but the midfield last season was so good. So far in this pre season, it is not the same as it was. Needs work. Great day, result could have gone either way.....
filbertstreet Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 glad that Kasper got to go up at the end though
Harry - LCFC Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 I think it's silly to try and take too much from that. While both teams were obviously trying you still get the impression neither were giving 100%. Wanted to win it a lot more than I thought I would once I'd arrived at the stadium but I can't say I'm distraught right now.
AyewJoking Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 ok performance marred by 2 soft goals. maybe last season our luck would have had twatan's header coming back off the post and we'd be given a pen at the end. Musa impressed but he surely wont last the season before being snapped in half
Oxfordfox83 Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Thought we looked decent for most of the game, and made some great chances. Shinji and Fuchs looked really good, Musa when he got the ball at his feet was sensational. Lot of promise from our shape, but Mahrez was a bit off, DD was still finding his range and Morgan had, by his standards, a shocker. A lot to like though, a couple of better bounces and a slightly more on-the-ball ref and we'd have won that. Ideal pre-season game really.
Finnegan Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Still stuck in the coach in the car park. Worst day ever.

NewEnglandFox Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 We still have a lot of rust to shed before the season starts I don't have much enthusiasm to slate our performance.
CheshireFox Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 vardys goal was nice! Mahrez clearly not got his head in the game (sign that contract already man!). we're still trying to get out if the bloody car park which is not helping me to be objective....
RowlattsFox Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Mourinho has worked out how to play against pretty quickly. Let us have the ball at the back until we give it away, which we will do. Shame to lose but oh well.
Larry_LCFC Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Disappointed to lose although fairly meaningless. I'd be more worried as a united fan because I honestly thought they were pretty shite. Think we were unsettled by the defensive subs that we made. Reckon Musa and Vardy will be terrifying together. Mahrez was anonymous. Good wembley experience though.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Drinkwater and King doesn't work that is clear, I felt though that we had the better of the game and certainly were unlucky to lose that.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Just me who didn't think Musa was great today? Guy is clearly a threat but too many misplaced passes and bad decisions today. Most of the above goes for the team. Thought we looked a real threat but lacked composure on the ball. That was the difference for me - United barely looked threatening but were more composed and ultimately that pressure told
