It's difficult as they are at home and have much better European pedigree and experience. Where as few would argue we've got the better side on paper at least. Tough one to call, we are in a bit of trouble if we lose it though.
Crinklyfox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 I can't see Ranieri making wholesale changes. We haven't had a great start to the Premier League but we have a tried and tested approach to matches with a relatively settled side and I expect him to start with the regular team in the regular formation. We have new players in the squad, some may hit the ground running but realistically it may take some time for them to realise their full potential, so putting these players in for such an important game is a risk. I expect them to be on the bench at best. We take Club Brugge lightly at our peril. How many times in past seasons have we seen a team in the Champions League under-perform the league match before a CL game? I'm expecting Brugge to be up for this one and if we aren't then we'll be losing.
StriderHiryu Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Excited for our first ever CL game, but nervous given some poor displays so far this year! Hoping for a good result!
foxfanazer Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Just attack them! Run at them instead of pumping aimless balls down the line. Time for these players to start performing in line with their new wage increases. Demarai Gray has to be a starter imo
Chimme Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Both teams are champions of their country & both play like shit Could very well be 3-3 or something like that. Players running everywhere not knowing what to do.
Clever Fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Any chance Chilwell or Fuchs could move across to right back. Just a thought. Ore line up will be dictated by how we are going to approach the game. Are we going to take the game to them or sit back and counter. I don't know much about Brugge but I expect a top Premiership team to be able to beat them. For that reason I'd go on the offensive and take the game to them with two up top. I'd also expect Amartey and DD to do much better as I believe the pace of the game will be slower and so allow them to get on the Ball more. We have to learn to retain the Ball better as that is key in European competitions. A better performance all round is needed but I suspect that the players had one eye on this game against Liverpool, So I'm sure they'll be ready.
jammie82uk Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 It's Stat time This is the first competitive encounter between Club Brugge and Leicester City. Club Brugge's only previous encounter with an English club in the European Cup/Champions League was in the 1978 final against Liverpool (0-1). Club Brugge are winless in their last eight games against English clubs in all competitions (D2 L6), failing to keep a clean sheet in any of those games. This is Club Brugge's fifth Champions League participation, their first since 2005/06. They have never reached the knockout stages, finishing third in their group in each of their four previous Champions League campaigns. In fact, only one Belgian club has ever reached the knockout stages of the Champions League: Gent, last season (eliminated in the Last 16). Club Brugge have only kept two clean sheets in their last 15 Champions League games. Leicester City are in the Champions League for the first time in their history. They're the first English team to make their debut in the competition since Manchester City in 2011/12. This is Leicester's first participation in European competition since the 2000/01 UEFA Cup when they were knocked out in the first round by Red Star Belgrade. This will be only Leicester's ninth game in European competition. They are winless in the last six, with their only victories coming in the preliminary round of the 1961/62 Cup Winners Cup against Glenavon (4-1 & 3-1). Club Brugge boss Michel Preud'homme won only one of his six games in his sole group stage participation as manager, it was with Twente in 2010/11. Leicester City are the sixth club managed by Claudio Ranieri in the Champions League, only Carlo Ancelotti has more (7). His best performance to date was a semi-final with Chelsea in 2003/04.

I don't see too many changes but let's be honest something has to change we just haven't been good enough yet this season fingers crossed we improve onwards and upwards
Russell sprout Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 I really think we'll win this 3-1,with us going 3 up,the players will be buzzing for this
Ric Flair Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Kasper Hernandez Morgan Huth Albrighton Amartey Drinkwater Chilwell Mahrez Vardy Slimani
walkerleeds Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Wouldn't mind Ulloa starting in this to be honest. I do think it'll be Slimani who plays though.

Brick Top Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Not sure what to expect from our side. Our performance last friday was appalling. Not what you'd expect from nearly the same team that won last years title. No ideas,no chances, strange tactics... Using Engels as centre forward in the last 15 min of the game, Marc Wilmots all over again. Bad season for us so far. But, we have had our fair share of European games. We have beaten some big teams in the past. I hope the players are up for it.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 I'd put King in for Amartey, and Hernandez for Simpson. It's no time for radical change, that is better done for the Burnley game. The heat will be an issue, given the forecast, so I don't think we can chase the ball for 90 mins.

It's only going to be about 25. Nothing dramatic. If the players can't cope with that then it confirms that they're not fit enough.
CosbehFox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Attack with pace. More direct with the dribbling. Please get rid of the aimless long ball, get the ball to wingers and let them run at their full backs. I've had enough of our more skillful players cutting back in or messing about with the ball. There's a good way to play simple, direct football and we aren't currently doing it.

foxy boxing Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 we have plenty of pace to attack them and need to find a way of keeping the ball and not just counter attack, playing without the ball is so much harder than with it and i would like to see us have more possession. run at them and get the ball out wide and get crosses into the box. we need to be defensively on it and not give the ball away or commit too many fouls especially around the box

Richmondfox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 This isn't the game for us to try new formations and players out of position. We need to get back to basics and our players doing what they do well. If Kasper and Fuchs insist on the hoof ball rather than a pass on the floor, I feel we wont get punished like we did at Liverpool. The players will raise their game for this, I have faith in them for this and the rest of the season. They wont want to be embarrassed again. As much as Amartey was out of position, Drinky seemed unable at times to complete a forward pass, which is unlike him. Hopefully they have spent the last few days with Vardy having some shooting practice, the defenders holding position and tracking runners and everyone else learning how to pass the ball on the floor and move. We know they can do it as they pull the quick passing out of the bag every so often. Hopefully Mahrez wont have to control every pass first time with his head. There was a cross field pass in the first half that he controlled and killed with a slight touch that was a thing of beauty. If we are going to play Alrighton then id like to see Slimani along side Vardy. Pinging balls in from the left for Slimani to get on the end of with Drinky picking up the loose balls, standard hit on the break for Vardy and Mahrez to drift in from the right. TLDR I'm going for a 1-3. Vardy, Slim, Mahrez.
