If he can deal with a cross, he'll already be doing well. We ask know KS is a top class shot stopper. His reactions are second to no one. But his distribution is annoying, and he doesn't dominate his box. Time to see what Zieler can do. Disagree ......first time in the clubs history in the Champions League and time to see what Zieler can do........not for me....saw enough preseason not in the same league. Zieler will not dominate his area anything like you want.....mark my words!!
lgfualol Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Cant judge Zieler off preseason, most of our players were shit. Zieler is in the same class as Schmeichel, he is highly rated by Bundesliga fans and was 2nd choice for Germany in the world cup squad. Ranieri will stick with Schmeichel. I think he'd throw a strop if he was dropped.
49er Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Based on the game against Beveren (unless it was their second string team), they were awful. Defence vulnerable to pace, so Musa needs to start instead of Albrighton. Slimani to replace Okazaki - we need a goal threat more than someone who does some good defensive work. Their main forward player appears to be Gedoz, a Brazilian. Plays all over the place, so will need to be picked up. Takes free kicks and corners. Technically quite good (although not the higher echelons as the great Brazilian players), but no pace. I don't think they are Premier League class. I would describe this as an equivalent of us playing Derby or Forest - should win comfortably, if we are up for it.

st albans fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 hopefully the ref wont hold Claudio's tenure with Greece against us!
RowlattsFox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 I just know we are going to get screwed over by a referee at some point, will probably be the Porto games.
adam95581 Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Will anybody be watching this in Derby? I've recently taken a project here (I'm sorry) and so will be here Mon-Thursday for the next year

That's surely very very poor for them in that league, would be very disappointed if we didn't win this When it comes to CL footy, i always take domestic league form aside, because it is absolutely irrelevant. Just remember how shiet raggs were when Moyes put them through the group stages a few seasons ago. Every CL fixture has to be taken as a proper battle with no easy outcome.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Bruges sound like they play a bit like us, according to RL, so I now think we will see a decent amount of the ball. Given the heat, that may help us. Sorry to Bruges fans for my ignorance, we are an insular bunch, as we recently proved.
TheLittleBigMan Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Think we'll see more changes for the Burnley match than this one. 1-2 city. God help us if we lose this, FT will lose it's sh*t.

The huge salaries some of them are on almost makes them undroppable too. He'll play KS in this game. But any more shenanigans and he should be benched, regardless of past performance or wages.
ARM1968 Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 Got to go for it in my opinion. Don't think we are solid enough at present to just try and hold on for a point. Need a a confidence boost and this could be it. Lets get behind the lads. We can do this.

Mahrez top player was pulled a number of times last year and it worked well for the team. No doubt, the tinkerman will take what he's seen to date and make the necessary changes. He has to adjust too and it's not a simple overnight decision. There's no chance players are dictating who plays. Picking any player......Mahrez despite his poor play for his normal standard has likely been left on because he can change a game but I can't see CR staying this course for anytime longer after what he's seen this year......changes will be made. If CR believes Kasper needs a rest or Zieler deserves a chance, it'll happen because CR has this option.
Aus Fox Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 On a side note does Vardy ever score in cup competitions? Charity Shield aside, I don't remember him ever scoring in a cup competition. Putting myself out there to be embarrassed, but I don't think he has for us. Go with Musa and Slim both played and scored goals in Europe for this one. Give Vards a rest and let him score a couple on Saturday, when we're back in the league.

I think Kasper Albighton Hernandez ( don't think Morgan was anywhere near 100%) Huth Chilwell ( Don't think Fuchs was fit) Mahrez Amartey King Drinkwater Gray Vardy Think we will go 5 in the middle after the performance on Sat. Its a bit like the Arsenal at home last season, changes will be made and we will improve. 2-1 win and off to a flyer in Champions League Vardy and King goals. Very much doubt we will drop our captain. I was as disappointed and annoyed about our performance against Liverpool but dropping our best players is not the answer. If we dropped everyone who underperformed against Liverpool we would be making 11 changes. Although Brugge aren't the best, a draw away from home in our first ever champs league game would be a decent result. I reckon if we draw away to Brugge and Kobenhavn and beat them both at home, we could lose both games to Porto and still go through

I'm not knocking zieler as I've not seen much of him,but some of the points you make seem a little much, such as yes he was 2nd choice for Germany's World Cup winning side, but that was 4 years ago, ranieri will stick with schmicheal on merit, hes a good keeper, though does have a rush of blood to the head at times,he'll earn you more points than he looses you, and I doubt cr would be fussed about him throwing a strop, I think it's as much down to zieler to show what he can do when he plays as it is for kasper
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 The criticism of Kasper really is unwarranted at times. He has won us far more points than he lost over his time year. His is distribution is excellent and theirs very few keepers who spring an attack like he can. Unless a pass is perfect 99.9% of a time people seem to criticise him. I don't get it.
WigstonWanderer Posted 12 September 2016 Posted 12 September 2016 What exactly has Kasper done to warrant all this criticism? With any other keeper Liverpool would probably have scored at least another couple of goals, and possibly more. Even the much-maligned effort he made when he came out for their 4th, I suspect they would have scored anyway.
