CPW22 Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Can't stand Burnley, their fans or Dyche. That last minute freekick from a two seasons ago still irritates me, I reckon that was a big factor in the poor run after than. I'll take a win of any kind, just send them home as soon as possible with no points. Wouldn't change the 11 that started last night.

st albans fox Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Is there much point in having squad depth if you aren't intending to utilise it? we we play wed/sat/tues/sat/tues/sun in my opinion, we should be rotating some players already. Those that probably need a rest will be off on international duty following the soton fixture. Surely burnley at home is the time to make a few changes. unless Claudio is not bothered about yanited and progression in the league cup.
Spudulike Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Is Shinji avaialable ?? Is he injured/ill or just dropped last night ?? Seemed weird without him.

Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Need to build some momentum. Champions league is great but league and domestic cups have to be our bread and butter. kasper hernandez morgan huth fuchs mahrez drinkwater amartey albrighton slimani vardy

Raj Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Don't know why people dislike Burnley? I know all the rivalry in our Championship season but sooner them than clubs like Leeds. Having said that DEFOneed to give them a good trouncing in order to stop the stampede of all the reporters desperate for our demise in the League. I don't want ANYONE hammering Mahrez as they have been in the League as ydays free kick showed he can change a game in an instant. Slimani n Vards upfront for me... Go for the jugular!
Fox42 Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 It's simple. We need to score as quickly as possible. The longer the game drags on with us not in a winnable position, the quicker Burnley will be appreciative of the current result and will be inclined to sit back and build a solid defensive wall. I reckon if we don't score in the first half, we won't win the game.

He's was dropped with good reason. He he could not have been worse at Liverpool, hence he was subbed. A kick up the arse won't do any of them any harm, after a performance like that.

I think rotation in the squad will start to come into play now. This. I suspected the reason for omitting Shinji on Wednesday was to have a fresh starter for Saturday. Also, the relatively early substitution of Vardy should leave him fresh enough for a start on the weekend (probably with another early sub planned). Bring in Musa or Slimani (or both) at the 65 minute mark to terrorize weary Burnley defenders :).
burnleyfan Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Burnley fan here. We'll stick to the same game plan like we did against Liverpool & Hull (which nearly worked). We play very narrow meaning it's difficult to pass through us (as Liverpool found) and in Steven Defour we look to have got an amazing player, far too good for us. If you've seen our 2nd goal against Liverpool and his goal against Hull you'll see what I mean. Alongside him will be Jeff Hendrick. Dunno whether he's good enough, but only time will tell. Our plan will be to keep it tight for as long as possible but if you score first you should win comfortably as we aren't creating much.

Clever Fox Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Dropped is a bit Harsh. Rotated sounds better and better for moral. I'm certain he'll be back on Saturday with Slimani coming on second half.
jammie82uk Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Stat time The Foxes haven't lost any of their last nine league matches against Burnley (W6 D3). Burnley twice pegged Leicester back the last time they played them at the King Power Stadium, drawing 2-2 in October 2014. The Clarets haven't won away at Leicester since November 2007, in which a goal from Andy Gray was enough for the win. Leicester City haven't lost a home Premier League game against a newly promoted side since losing 5-0 to Bolton Wanderers in August 2001 at Filbert Street. The Clarets have won two of their last three Premier League away games (L1); they had won two of their previous 36 beforehand. Burnley have won two of their four previous Premier League games against reigning champions (1-0 v Man Utd in August 2009 and 1-0 v Man City in March 2015). Leicester's record of four points from four games is the joint-second lowest return for a reigning Premier League champion (Blackburn 3 in 1995-96 and Chelsea 4 in 2015-16). Jamie Vardy has scored seven goals in his last eight Premier League games for Leicester, as well as four in his last four at the King Power Stadium. Sean Dyche's side have scored just four goals in their last 10 Premier League away games, and never more than once in a match in that time. Three of the five goals Burnley have conceded this season have arrived in the last 10 minutes of games, with two of those changing the outcome of the match (vs Swansea and Hull). Burnley have attempted the fewest shots in the Premier League over the opening four matchdays (33).

Very predictable and surprising that Claudio played him on Saturday. I think he deserves an appearance in a UCL match.
SheppyFox Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 They'll try and Leicester us, but they'll fail.
biggs Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Can't wait for Saturday. Give the energy and desire we had on Wednesday to win (similar to last year) and Burnley will be heading home with nothing for their travels. Two 3-0 wins in a row for Leicester as we move up the table.
ajthefox Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Being reminded of that Bolton game is unnecessary. I still remember coming back off holiday finding out we'd lost to Bolton whilst I was on a boat realising the season was gonna be a shitter.
NewEnglandFox Posted 15 September 2016 Posted 15 September 2016 Claudio's domestic cup games have been very 2nd string so far and I expect we'll see the 2nd squad on Wednesday. The chance for rotation was in Brugge and we didn't see that. I expect pretty much the same squad this weekend; not resting players to play in the league cup. They'll have Wednesday off instead. Maybe we'll see Chilwell but I think we'll definitely see Albrighton over Gray. I can't believe some of you are suggesting Jaime Vardy who came off after 70' to be dropped on Saturday to stay fresh for Wednesday.

FoxinNotts Posted 16 September 2016 Posted 16 September 2016 Think we should rotate a bit. I'd go with: Schmeichel. Simpson Huth. Morgan. Chillwell Drinkwater. Amartey. Gray Kapustka. Musa. Slimani. Zieler. Fuchs. King. Albrighton Mahrez. Vardy. Okazaki.
KFS Posted 16 September 2016 Posted 16 September 2016 I think we'll slowly start to see the "they'll Leicester us" attitude dissolve with the arrival of Slimani. The guy now gives us an entirely different dimension. Push up to try and get him out of our box? Vards in behind. Drop deep to keep Vards off the shoulder? Fuchs, Albrighton, Mahrez with balls into Slimani. All that with tricky players like Gray, Kapustka, the damaging strength of Schlupp coming off the bench... We're looking a frightening opponent I must say.
