Long Eaton Fox Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Have we gone back to the days of selling all of our best players and haunting the lower depths of the premiership/championship. We may have 100m to spend in total after Mahrez leaves but can we regain the levels of our premiership winning season. Hard to replace the irreplaceable. Wise player recruitment required.
themightyfin Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Erm .... we have not sold anyone..so the answer as it stands is no.
davieG Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 You're defined as a selling club if you need to sell players to raise capital to improve the team we're hardly in that position. Players leaving will be those who wish to leave and those we no longer require.
Captain... Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 We have sold one player we didn't want to in Kante, and now probably Mahrez. Also known as the PFA player of the year 2016/17 and 2015/16 we are hardly Southampton and selling all our players to Liverpool.
MGLCFC Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 All clubs sell their best players, maybe apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid. Money just becomes fluid once you are moving players on and bringing similar players in. The problem Leicester have is finding quality players who want to come here, not the ability to pay for them.

When have we ever been anything but a selling club? There's about 3 teams in the whole world who don't have players that want to leave for bigger gigs. Has it only just dawned on you?
AmarteyAndChill Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Yes, every team apart from Real Madrid and Barcelona end up selling their best players. That's football.
Stevosevic Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Everyone is a selling club. Even Manchester United sell when Barcelona/Real Madrid want one of their players.
goose2010 Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 If we werent a selling club like everyone else we would have an almighty wage bill. Players come and go just like managers we have lost our best players before and been alright. No need to panic just yet.
desertfox2 Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Bale to Real and Suarez to Barca spring to mind. De Gea may leave Man Utd. It's football.
mozartfox Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 If only we could sell Rudkin, life would probably seem much better than it does at moment. Every team sells it best players unless you are Barca'/RM and may be Bayern.. It's football. So I do not think we have become a selling Club out of choice, it is the market.. We will all cheer up when the new signings are announced...........hopefully.
RonnieTodger Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 To be fair, other than Kante when was the last time we've had to sell a player who's deemed to good for us? Joe Mattock?
Bayfox Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Said it in the thread about our value. But unless you are the big spanish 2 or bayern you're a selling club. What would be nice is to find a crop of players who all buy into the dream and stay for a few years. But unless we find 25 city fans who are all decent at the same time. It ain't gonna happen.
Vossen Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 I say Sell him...he may change a game...now & again but he plays for 20 minutes & goes missing...watch Danny Simo having a go at him...he never tracks back, ....rant over!!!

To be honest we have had no one decent enough to sell since the oneil days and they all ****ed off. But yes we are always have been

Guest Col city fan Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Have we not always been 'a selling club'? We've always done it haven't we? And so do most clubs in reality. When we sell Mahrez, we'll move on. We always have and always will.

City fans or not they will still fvck off if good enough. The big clubs will still be able to pay more. Look at Rooney and his once a blue but ill fvck off. It's always been about trophy's but now it's money first then trophy's now. Let's be honest in the prem there have been few one club players. Giggs Nevil Stevie G and JT. All at big clubs on huge wages.
lgfualol Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 We're not a selling club. We've just never had players better clubs want to buy this is just normal.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Not like this forum to have knee-jerk reactions like this
Max Power Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Everyone is a selling club. It's about getting a good price when you do sell. We got ripped off for Kante so we better get massive money for Mahrez.
Bazly Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Selling players for more than you bought them for and all their wages plus bonuses is good business. Selling players for multiples more than you bought them for is great business. Smart buying is good business. Its when you start selling players for less than you bought them for or useless buys become a theme the trouble is on the horizon. The Summer last year showed how easy poor buying is so another Summer like last season needs to be avoided especially if, as expected, a few of the front line players depart for good business money.
FoxinNotts Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 No. We just need to get our buying department working correctly.
Bossman Blessed It Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 We operate on a very good business model. Kante was a smooth £25 million profit - coinciding with the fact that the player wanted to leave, which we'd hopefully all agree is good enough reason to not keep them here and contribute positively. Mahrez could well hit a £40-50 million profit if we get a good price for him; it's unlikely he'll hit the heights of our title winning season again, ergo, we move him forward and we move on.
