AKCJ Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 10m for an attacking midfielder with Premier League experience? Wouldn't want him to be 'the one' but for that kind of money he'd beef an area of the squad we're currently lacking.
Ric Flair Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 If we end up with him come late August we know we've had a howler and that cretin must be made to go. Rudkin, all eyes are on you.
dannythefox Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 Had there chance and didn't take it so sick the offer up there backside!
Kitchandro Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 We don't sound interested, good news. I'd be disappointed if he was second choice when we don't end up with Sigurdsson, but I'm hopeful there are plenty above Ramirez in the list.
Ozwin Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 We're onto pastures new. Let's move on, Shakey will have no interest in this guy.

We're not really lacking in a central midfield area or an attacking midfield area. Drinkwater, Ndidi, King, James, Lawrence, Barnes, Gray & possibly even Mahrez and Mendy all fit into one or both of those categories. What we need is one player who's going to make a difference in the starting 11, so that the likes of Drinkwater, Ndidi and Okazaki have strong competition for places. Ramirez has experience at this level but all it has proved is that he's bang average. I'd rather look at players with potential as getting the best proven Premiership players is unlikely. Almost none of our best players had Premier League experience prior to joining us, neither did Kante, so I'm not overly fussed if they've played in the league before.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 No thanks! He was clearly someone who Ranieri wanted and if the other signings he was involved in were anything to go by we were lucky to have avoided him in January!
surrifox Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 I don't like the sound of " for now" . Hopefully just paper talk as the club had no need to issue what sounds like a firm refusal as they apparently had an option to buy

I do wonder why he went all crap and I do wonder if we could do with him what we did with Albrighton. I.e. Take a player, discarded from one club and make them into a solid player for City. All I'm saying is, don't base this completely on his performances for Middlesbrough.

I love this post and the fact a number of others have 'liked' it. you could change the words to "I've a knee jerk reaction to every event that comes along related to player performances or transfers reported on highly unreliable social media sources. I apply little logical or broad thinking when it comes to any of these matters. In fact I just make this shit up based on what mood I'm in at the time" and it has exactly the same meaning ??

Wouldnt be Foxestalk without the kneejerk
SheppyFox Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 I change my plea, get this done, I've thought about the price tag and although it's debatable if he'll improve our first 11 it's undoubtable he'll improve us as a squad IMO.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 My favourite fact about Gaston Ramirez is that he is from the town of Fray Bentos in Uruguay.Fray Bentos. Mmmmmmm.........pie.

This guy will cost £10m so I want something more than "taking a chance" for that kind of money. We already have a big squad considering we won't have European football, sod the squad players, I want players who waltz into the first team or highly talented youngsters.
Matt Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 I wouldn't say no but it feels like a poor mans Sigurdsson, thing is we're not poor far from it, Everton are pissing about putting lower bids in than Swansea want so why do we go in, blow them out the water and spend the money, he might not come, he might not want to com but let's atleast give it a go. People are getting sick of hearing but i'm afraid we can't get away from the facts, we fucked up regards Sigurdsson last year, there wasn't (as I understand) interest from anyone in him so we may have got him for cheaper than they're demanding now, either way that point is irrelevent, the major point is we had CL to offer him and we didn't bother, now we're in this situation.
Guest Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 We spend 10m on a mardy, relegated midfielder. Knock some sense into him, give him a few easy cameos and let him finish a season with dignity and at a mid-table club. Then sell him on for the going rate of 20m for a 27 yr old, adequate midfielder. It's not a bad bit of side income.

Samilktray Posted 30 June 2017 Posted 30 June 2017 Does anybody really think we're remotely in the running to sign Sigurdsson?
