Much rather we held on to him, but with  £40m in the bank.....we could make a hell of a tempting offer to Turan !

If we wanted to try and fail to buy turan we don't need to sell to do this

To be honest, I think Danny Drinkwater holds us back from taking the 'next step' as a club. He's too negative at times.

I'd accept an offer of 35mil plus add ons.

Lets spend 40m on a 30 year old flop, that's being roumered to leave on a free due to a five year contract at Barca.

Are you Rudkin in disguise

:nigel:

He doesn't mention anywhere in his post about offering £40m to him, I read it that he implies we have money for his wages.

And a flop at Barca isn't exactly something we could rule out.

Hold us back from the next step? You wait till Amartey is back in CM.

Surely even we aren't shit enough to sell him and leave ourselves in that situation.

No your right

it makes more sense to throw the 40m on wages for a 30 year old risk

Hahahaha yeah because we would have to offer the full 40m in wages, their is absolutely no other option other than the full amount.

How is he negative? By retaining possession and playing it backwards when a forward pass isn't on?

Think most would prefer to but can you deny a player of his standing 140k/week if the earlier titbit is correct?

Why not? He was happy enough to sign a long term contract last year.  If we give in and sell, then unless we do have a better option coming in, it is a sign of severe lack of ambition on our part.

We have to knock them back pretty much whatever they offer. Really important that we show we can hold on to our better players. If we don't it will reinforce the perception that we are a selling club lacking ambition, which will encourage bids for our other top players and discourage high quality transfer targets from signing for us. Sick of the likes of Chelsea thinking they can bully other clubs. If we sell DD we're heading for being Southampton to Chelsea's Liverpool. They've already taken our best player, let's do all we can to stop them nicking another important player, especially as you know they just want him as an English qualified bench warmer for the UCL matches.

At times that did start to happen, he stopped looking forward. But it's harsh to pin it on him, the whole team was hiding at the time.

If we don't replace him with someone who can control a game and can pass well then we are morons. I fear for us in the closing days of Windows as we aren't fast movers or decisive enough but this is very important. Questions marks over every central midfielder bar Ndidi. We play 4-4-2 and we simply have to have another great all round midfielder in there.

Tell them no. We're one defender from being right in the mix again imo. You don't sell the on field director now.

Completely agree. Chelsea can do one.

CHELSEA TO HIJACK SPURS OVER BARKLEY

Chelsea will try to hijack Tottenham’s move for Ross Barkley and hold talks with Everton this weekend, according to The Daily Mirror.

The England midfielder has emerged as a target for the Blues, who are eager to bolster their home grown talent before the transfer window shuts.

If only this had been mentioned 66 pages ago, I did wonder.

Iborra

What about him? He's injured and will struggle in a midfield 2 week in, week out. If he's been lined up for this all along then I'm very worried.

Iborra what? The bloke was a bit part player and then got injured before the season began here. He MIGHT be decent but you can't seriously be betting the house on that!

If we sell him, we must have a replacement lined up. Really can't see the owners letting one of our top players leave without a replacement. We don't really need the money so wouldn't make sense

fair enough, still think we should keep couple of injuries in the middle and we will be stuffed.

Spilllllll your guts

I just think if DD desperately wants to go and we're offered £40m then it's very tempting

Mahrez is more important to us than Drinkwater so I'd rather Mahrez stayed if there was a choice

Vardy is more important to us (certainly in terms of the way we play) than either Mahrez or Drinkwater so Vardy is the player I'd least like to lose right now

Of course I hope they all stay, Gray included. Not so fussed if Slimani, Musa, Mendy, Benny etc move on. I think they're more easily replaced.

At some point however, the rest of the title winning side will break up.

Drinkwater is still very important though. Would be incredibly disappointed if we're anything but reluctant in letting him go.
