Drinkwater

I think DD is definitely off but only because its World Cup year.

Sad truth is he'd have more chance making England the squad from Chelseas bench instead of our starting 11. I still think the snub for Wilshere at the Euros after having the season of his life is on his mind too.

Does anyone know whether Drinky attended the game today?

I'd be devastated if he left - we can't be losing a key player like this - a true Leicester City legend and an instrumental cog in the title winning side

Lots of reasons I don't see this happening. Firstly matic out for £40m and drinky in straight swap. Sorry but Leicester already got short changed on Kante. Not going to make it two in a row.

Drinky left out possibly due to making sure he's fit and importantly for him fit for England. This is a World Cup year of football, drinky while at leicester not struggling to be selected. Why change that.

I could always be wrong but chances are way tooo small for there being a transfer

Haven't been linked with many midfielders and don't believe we signed Iborra to replace Drinkwater.

It would be quite odd seeing Drinkwater playing against Leicester in two weeks' time...can't see this happening.

Players put in no transfer request. We are not a selling club, and just about assembling a squad. He's not going anywhere

lol you are incredibly naive.

Its a shame he's off and we desperately need a replacement until we loan him

back next season when he realises he's wasting his career on the bench.

Drinky is off, completed by Tuesday and a 40k increase in wages to £120k a week.

If true and he refused to play/pushed for a move, I expect he get he fair share of criticism.

If he's refused to play then he'll get dogs abuse.

But you can't blame him for wanting the move. Chelsea are a massive club.

He can move to the moon for all I care, but refusing to play is where I draw the line.

Imagine if "refusing to play" was a rumor about gray! He would be getting more than the dog's abuse. That man can sneeze and someone will somehow find a way to turn it against him.

I hate to go back to this but, riyad get abuse for being a pro, preforming and not pushing for a move, if he played good he is playing for a move, and if he has another game like the arsenal game the hounds will be read to get at him, its one of the reasons gray is being slated, their favourite chewing toy didn't have a stinker!

. I would take my sweat time with him if the rumors are true, after the crap I've been fed for more than a year because of riyad, I will be coming out blazing for one of this forum's favourites.

So - who comes in? We've got to sign *somebody* if he's outgoing.

A CAM who can fill in as a box to box would be the dream, you play with 3 midfielders against the big clubs and with him and n'didi against lower table teams.

I don't really rate him that much because I watched him a lot last season but, mayer from schalke would do a decent job, he obviously wasn't really comfortable with last year formation.

One I would recommend is bentaleb (yeah, I know, I know!) He is a great box to box who can fill in as the creative mid in a 3 man midfield and also in a midfield 2. Amazing passing range and a rocket for a left foot while he is still 22. Plus, he is left footed.

Shakey said he's not quite ready. True or not that's what weve been told and have to take as face value. Right now any other theories are pure speculation including him refusing to play and should not be given time of day until proven otherwise.

It could just be that they don't want to rush him back and want to make sure that he'll be 100% fit for the whole season. If that's the case, then that'll be a good move. A fully fit Drinkwater is much more effective than a rushed back from injury and then gets injured again for longer. It's still early in the season and there's plenty of more games to come.

A friend of mine was at the Fuchs clothing launch on Thursday night and Shinji said he thinks Drinky will go to Chelsea. It's looking more and more likely, a real shame and we need to go and find a replacement now.

So depressing, if true, that, when approached, our star players want to jump ship to a "big" club rather than to help our transformation into one. It means the status quo will never change. How boring for Prem football.

Surprised that Everton seem to be bucking that (e.g. Siggurdson reportedly willing to go there and not consider us). Maybe it's the Europe thing, but that didn't help us a lot in attracting stars last summer. Maybe it's the signals they send out with the number of buys and their willingness, almost wantoness, in splashing the cash.

Re Everton, I just wonder how much of this is down to Steve Walsh. We may really rue the day he left. I also wonder whether any "special relationships" he had with our players might lure them to Everton (thinking particularly of Vardy within the current speculation).

This is all musing, and reliant only on transfer rumours. The combination of all the transfer speculation, following the "same old" nature of yesterday's defeat, has got me feeling really down this morning.

Can someone say something to cheer me up?!

Sorry not going to cheer you up.... our chance of transforming into a bigger club died with last summers transfer window and our reluctance to buy because we didn’t want to upset those who had won the league.

As annoying as it is we’re effectively at the level we were at post survival season and we’ll finish in the top half because it’s a piss poor league this season and there’s definitely ten teams worse than us. (I guess that’s something to be cheery about??)

Drinky will want to play for England next summer. He has a condition that means the more he plays for his club, the less he can play for his country.

He knows that moving to Chelsea will mean less football and staying here could mean he has to play through the pain like last season and missing out on Russia. Add on the 40/50k per week and s/o fee and what would you do ??

Do you have ant certain knowledge that Drinky's condition is as you describe it, i.e.  It will dog and restrict him for the rest of his football career, and no surgery has or can cure it?  If that's true then we're better to get rid but, if that were the case, would Chelsea (or anyone) take him?

I don't think James and Ndidi Mendy (and certainly not Amartey) are the answers to our midfield - I'd like to see Iborra in front of the back four and a more creative CAM slightly in front of him.

I have read comments re an operation at the end of last season but I saw nothing official. I believe the condition he is suffering from is not one that gets better but has to be managed. Chelsea must be aware of it and prepared to take it on. Ike i said, the less he has to play the better for him and his international prospects.

I'm sure we have told him the return of MJ and addition on Iborra means we won't be relying on him like last season but if he remains here as the main man and we find ourselves in a relegation scrap again he knows he will have to battle through the games each week with no respite.
