Well considering we haven't changed tactics this season have we really spent £12m on a 29 year old to be a cast iron substitute because that's all he can be if he's incapable of playing in a two man midfield.

I think we've signed him for the variety of roles he can play, DM or AM like Fellaini if we're chasing a game and go route one. Doesn't mean he'll be a success in our normal starting formation, hopefully he will though as as you say we probably aren't changing systems any time soon.

I think around early next year, Matty James will be much more sharper and ready to regularly compete with or even take over Drinkwater's position.

Like any player of proven quality  we sell, I will be disappointed but thats all.

The idea behijd a possible move to Chelsea, is that they would have smah n grabbed,

the soul of our PL title team, within 18months.

Horrible but interesting to then see Chelsea win the title again with Kante and Drinkwater.

A potential future pub quiz question being put on the table....

Chelsea can offer whatever they like but unless a replacement is lined up the Drinky deal won't get sanctioned by the owners

I love our owners

Selling Drinkwater without replacement and giving Ulloa a new contract in the same week - the meltdown will be too much.

The over reaction in here does my head in. But in this case I could totally understand it. I've never been a great fan of Ulloa even when was was linked. My Brighton mate was right 4m was about his worth. But credit where it's due great first season and 1or 2 vital goals to win the prem. But we really have now moved on and so should he.

I think its fairly obvious that unless Chelsea change their mind then he's going. This injury that he's had since the speculation started is a bit of a clue. All we can do is get the best price possible and hope his understudies are adequate.

Agreed. I've heard in the region of 40 million could be wrong though.

He is Injured

Is it the same injury Coutinho, Sanchez and Virgil Van Dyke have?

Im optimistic so i BLOODY hope not! for me (maybe with my blue tinted specs on) he seems too much of a nice guy.. Next few days are gonna be pretty scarey.

With his recent history he may fail the medical anyway.

What have you heard then? Please do share.  We are not very good at achieving     reasonable fees, so 40m is probably unrealistic.

He has been in full training this week

if he wanted to stay here he would have badgered shakey to put him on the bench

Maybe he did? but Shakey didnt want to risk it?

It's possible I guess - shakey could have said on Thursday that the game was too early for him (like he did Huth) but he didn't.

Players put in no transfer request. We are not a selling club, and just about assembling a squad. He's not going anywhere

Not yet he hasn't and word was that he wouldn't but he would expect us to be trying to find a replacement so we would be able to accept an acceptable bid.  He may end up staying and I hope if he does, he remains motivated.

i see Chelsea are after Ross Brakley too, personally think they should go for him, younger and has more potential in the long term and Everton are probably more willing than us with DD

Barkley is like the emperor's new clothes.

Not that convinced myself. Don't think he's good enough for Everton so pretty sure not good enough for Chelsea.

I suspect the Chelsea interest in Barkley is a bit of smokescreen to get the Drinkwater deal done.

Not sure why but I can see this as a more likely transfer happening than even Mahrez going
