If you start at 14th and end back up at 12th, you haven't really "moved on". It might have escaped your attention but we were in a relegation battle again last year, just as we were our first season up. Last year had far more in common with our first season than it did the title win. So using that one glorious season as proof of having "moved on" just doesn't stand up. We are back to where we started before the title win.

FantasticMrFox&Son Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Pirlo was no heavyweight, but could play a pass to perfection. Reckon Riyad could do the same but slightly further forward, and as for the physical nature of the game ................... does it make any difference if you get hacked down centrally or out on the wing ?

It’s the way you put it … you might as well come onto a fundamentalist bible-thumpers site and say, even if He did walk on water He just ended up dead

But Pirlo generally played in teams with several other top quality players which probably meant less likely to be doubled up on unlike Mahrez.
Chico1958 Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 I see we are back to the normal conversations when one of our own is about to leave. It is gathering steam and the likely result may well be that Drinkwater will go. To be fair if he goes then I do hope we have a Plan B or C..... D and a F wouldn't go amiss either More importantly we still have our little genius which I'm more than happy about............ For Now

He is our outside threat and playmaker, he is underutilised in that aspect, when he drifted inside vs united and started playing those fast 1-2 passes, their midfield collapsed, add a box to box and an overlapping RB and we can see that week in, week out. He would thrive in that united setup, having less defensive duties, elite 1v1 skills, very good playmaking tools and the ability to cross it with both feet. Should've built around him last season but instead the management wasted the chance to sign quality players! Couldnt agree more ! Nice post and my thoughts entirely

Grebfromgrebland Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 It would be really frustrating if DD isn't replaced with equal quality. For the first time in over a season we have had adequate cover in midfield with James, DD, Ndidi ok well 3 first team quality players. If we lose DD without replacing then it's 1 step forward 2 steps back in space of 3 games. James and Mendy aren't yet fit enough to be classed as adequate replacements.
HankMarvin Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 DRINK IT IN Chelsea reportedly agree fee with Leicester for Danny Drinkwater, while Foxes line up Paris Saint-Germain star Gregorz Krychowiak CHELSEA’S remarkable day keeps getting better, as French reports suggest they have agreed a £28million fee with Leicester City for Danny Drinkwater. The Blues have been desperate to bolster their midfield before the close of the transfer window, and look poised to bring in the Foxes star to Stamford Bridge. According to SFR Sport, Antonio Conte looks to have finally got his man after weeks of negotiating with the 2015/16 Premier League champions. The West London side saw an offer of £15m knocked back by Craig Shakespeare earlier on in the window, but have been keen to nab the 27-year-old to replace Nemanja Matic who was sold to Manchester United. In what is turning out to be a fantastic day for Chelsea fans, it was reported earlier today the Blues are closing in on the signing of Arsenal’s contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after agreeing a £35m deal. Chelsea are determined not to suffer the same fate they endured after they won the league in 2015 after their opening day defeat to Burnley. Drinkwater will compete with Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko in the middle of the park should he link up with the Community Shield runners-up. Leicester have already identified the England international’s replacement – Paris Saint-Germain stalwart Gregorz Krychowiak.

st albans fox Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 PSG stalwart ?? He's only been there a season and hardly played ???? tells you all you need to know about the quality of that article
goody2028 Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Can't see us replacing the quality he provided in the 15/16 season but other seasons maybe. £28 million is probably right currently in my eyes
Ric Flair Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 All English press has said we want £40 million, yet some French outlet claims we've accepted £28 million. Sounds very familiar that does?! Oh yes, the same nation that claimed Mahrez was going to arsenal for £26 million. This late in the window any fee for Drinkwater, Mahrez and Vardy will have to be ridiculous.
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Be disappointed if its only this amount especially after getting gang banged on the Kante money. If true we'll be regarded as Chelsea's feeder club , just like Southampton are with Liverpool .
ADAMSKI97 Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Deal already done im afraid Drinky and co in Narborough this afternoon talking to Chelski Russian represntatives, gutted to say the least lets hope City have a replacement lined up but i wouldnt hold your breath Where has all the money gone we are awash with money from the Eurpoean trips and if the Drinky Deal is confirmed we havent spent much this window have we and are possibly weaker now than last season!

We have been told we are not a selling Club and it was reported that the Owners said none of our stars would be sold off. So what has changed? If all this true, and DD is. it replaced with someone of equal quality or better, then the DoF needs to explain himself.
FantasticMrFox&Son Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Which begs the question, is Shakey happy with this ?? Surely he must have been involved in agreeing DD's transfer to Chelsea, if not then he's NOT LCFC manager, just "front of house".
HankMarvin Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 More Flowers once DD has trained with them, if its 28m in the current climate they will feel like they have puled our pants down again
Monsell1976 Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Think 28 mill is a result, the drinkwater of the title winning season was good in a side that could do no wrong. The drinkwater of other seasons is a mixture of a good top end championship/ lower end prem player, who's form is inconsistent, who is on £100 grand a week, good bit of business, if a replacement is in place, it's not like it was a surprise him going.
Guest Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Replacing a forward facing player with s defensive mid? Is that a thing

At 28m we have been sodomized good and proper. Now we can go off and pay 28m for Andros T. I am now starting to wonder about our forward planning.
