Pirlo was no heavyweight, but could play a pass to perfection.

Reckon Riyad could do the same but slightly further forward, and as for the physical nature of the game ................... does it make any difference if you get hacked down centrally or out on the wing ?

But Pirlo generally played in teams with several other top quality players which probably meant less likely to be doubled up on unlike Mahrez.

It is gathering steam and the likely result may well be that Drinkwater will go.

 

To be fair if he goes then I do hope we have a Plan B or C..... D and a F wouldn't go amiss either

It would be really frustrating if DD isn't replaced with equal quality. For the first time in over a season we have had adequate cover in midfield with James, DD, Ndidi ok well 3 first team quality players.

 

If we lose DD without replacing then it's 1 step forward 2 steps back in space of 3 games. James and Mendy aren't yet fit enough to be classed as adequate replacements.

CHELSEA’S remarkable day keeps getting better, as French reports suggest they have agreed a £28million fee with Leicester City for Danny Drinkwater.

The Blues have been desperate to bolster their midfield before the close of the transfer window, and look poised to bring in the Foxes star to Stamford Bridge.

 

According to SFR Sport, Antonio Conte looks to have finally got his man after weeks of negotiating with the 2015/16 Premier League champions.

The West London side saw an offer of £15m knocked back by Craig Shakespeare earlier on in the window, but have been keen to nab the 27-year-old to replace Nemanja Matic who was sold to Manchester United.

In what is turning out to be a fantastic day for Chelsea fans, it was reported earlier today the Blues are closing in on the signing of Arsenal’s contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after agreeing a £35m deal.

Chelsea are determined not to suffer the same fate they endured after they won the league in 2015 after their opening day defeat to Burnley.

Drinkwater will compete with Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko in the middle of the park should he link up with the Community Shield runners-up.

Leicester have already identified the England international’s replacement – Paris Saint-Germain stalwart Gregorz Krychowiak.

Deal already done im afraid Drinky and co in Narborough this afternoon talking to Chelski Russian represntatives, gutted to say the least lets hope City have a replacement lined up but i wouldnt hold your breath Where has all the money gone we are awash with money from the Eurpoean trips and if the Drinky Deal is confirmed we havent spent much this window have we and are possibly weaker now than last season!

Spot on Pal.  We do not have sell so the question is who sanctioned this and what is logic behind it?  We have been told we are not a selling Club and it was reported that the Owners said none of our stars would be sold off.  So what has changed?  If all this true, and DD is. it replaced with someone of equal quality or better, then the DoF needs to explain himself.

Think 28 mill is a result, the drinkwater of the title winning season was good in a side that could do no wrong.

The drinkwater of other seasons is a mixture of a good top end championship/ lower end prem player, who's form is inconsistent, who is on £100 grand a week, good bit of business, if a replacement is in place, it's not like it was a surprise him going.

He stopped playing forward a while ago. Still baffled if we let him go for only 28M. Pants down again and we won't find the adequate replacement.
