But he is a decent manager , no doubt about it, certainly an upgrade on Shakespeare. It depends what you mean by 'big name'. He's getting some seriously good results in the Premier League, I'd argue that a hell of a lot of people outside of England know who he is. Usually if you're talking big names you're on about former League/Champions League winners that are fresh out of a job (ala Ancelotti) or you mean also-rans like Sven. Nigel Graham Pearson Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 We hear the ‘the owners want a big name’ line every time, but I wonder if that’s really so. They did give the job to Shakespeare, who’s about as small of a name as it gets (although it does have 11 letters).
VIKTOR-LE5 Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 What about the young bloke at Hoffenheim Julian Nagelsmann, he's transformed that tiny village club into a solid team that play some proper football.

Probably not, but I think the Vichai is deluded if he reckons that somebody like Ancelotti would come to a club in the bottom 3. The Thais have always been starstruck by 'big name managers'. First Sven, then Claudio. They probably fancy Dyche though cos he seems a bit Pearson-esque in his manner and style, but without the weird episodes that you got with Pearson. He's be a great choice, and the fact that he still hasn't yet ruled himself out is positive...
dynamark Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 I cannot stand or understand Sean Dyche Sounds as if he is on a 1960s TV cop show.Lets get someone who can speak a little English pls. Its not hard to pick the best players we have at our disposal but we do need to motivate and organise.

Smiffy Fox Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 Rafa Benitez for me, done a great job at Newcastle without spending much. Loads of premier league and European experience. I’m sure he could get our squad organised and playing well. Hasn’t he worked with our head of recruitment in the past?
Ted Maul Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 If we're after a big name, surely we've got to go all-out for Blanc. He might be tempted for enough money, even if he sees us as a stepping stone for a bigger English job. If we're after a dependable, solid, long-term option, then it has to be Dyche. £2.5m compensation to Burnley is peanuts as well. I'd be pretty happy with either, considering some of the dross leading the betting.

Wdywd Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 Tuchel turned Bayern down the other week supposedly, and is holding out for a PL job according to Rafa Honigstein. There's some sort of power struggle at Bayern with one wanting Tuchel and the other Nagelsmann
Dorchester Fox Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 It'll never happen but I like the approach - and results - that Danny Cowley gets at Lincoln. Not a big name and probably in need of a championship job before being unleashed on the premiership but he's without doubt a manager with a future. EnglishOxide Posted 18 October 2017 Share Posted 18 October 2017 I think I would be happy with Dyche simply because he would slot right into the infrastructure. He knows the league, he knows us, and Burnley have played the same sort of system as us for years. It would be interesting to see what he could do with better players.
