Wouldn't scoff at things like that, it's managers with track records like that we should at least do our due diligence on. If he were German, people wouldn't moan.

I was "scoffing" because for all of Chris Wilder's obvious accomplishments he is not the "big name" the owner is supposedly looking for.

Coleman, Wilder etc these sort of managers we need to stay away from we don’t want to be doing this again next year ffs. PROVEN only!

Wilder has done well at Oxford, Northampton and Sheffild United so he is proven.

This whole "Premier League proven" rubbish is what Sky want you to believe. It's no different from any other top flight league, if you're a good manager then you'll do well.

Merson, Redknapp and all that lot at Sky constantly laugh off good managers (and players at times) because they aren't "proven" in the Premier League.

The idea of a 'big name' is BS anyway.

Louis Van Gaal was a big name when he went to Man Utd, and he was doggo. Don't forget, a lot of these managers who have won league titles have done so with clubs who are basically expected to win the league every few years anyway. We need somebody who can motivate our squad and understands the Premier League - that's it basically.

In fact, I'm getting really bored of all this manager merry-go-round crap anyway. The running of a football club is down to much more than one bloke.

I actually think a lot of these big name managers (Mourinho, Conte, Klopp) are basically just pantomime acts. They prance around on the sidelines shouting instructions that the players can't hear (PASHUN!), then come out with something half provocative in the pressers. They've got armies of people working out tactics and strategies for them anyway. It's all BS, smoke and mirrors. They're just a public face.

Please not Moyes, Pardew, Colman, Dyche, Dowie, Strachan, Howe, Mazzarri, Megson.

I'd take Mazzari.  He may have done poorly here in the Prem, but he's technically one of the best in the world.  He made Napoli shine, something Rafa couldn't even do.  He had a load of bad luck at warford, but they are a better team because of him.  Mazzari knows how to build teams; and that's what we need right now.  Get rid of the dead weight especially our defenders and build the midfield.

If they are going to spend money on getting a top manager in then lets do it right and go and get Diego Simeone, and pay him whatever he wants and give him a truck load of cash to spend in January.

Fvck that, let's go the whole hog and make an approach for Bill Shankly, Brian Clough or Johan Cryuff.

If he'd done it in the bundesliga people might not moan. People definitely would moan if we wanted to appoint some guy who'd done well for 3 months in Bundesliga 2 and that was the highest level he'd ever managed at

Seem to remember Wagner getting a lot of love on here way before Huddersfield promoted. If he wasn't German would he have got the same?

Former Aston Villa assistant manager Roy Keane has emerged as a shock contender to replace Craig Shakespeare as Leicester City manager.

Shakespeare was sacked by the Foxes yesterday after Monday evening’s draw with West Bromwich Albion extended their winless streak in the Premier League to six games.

And Keane is as low as 12/1 with some bookmakers to replace Shakespeare at Leicester.

Where do they get this nonsense from?

Completely agree southampton seem to go foreign every season and they do well. I remember when silva was appointed at hull last season and merse critised it yet a few weeks later he was praising him. Just because they havent heard of someone does not mean there a bad manager.

Top proven managers won't come to Leicester, stop being delusional.

People available to us as those at smaller overperforming clubs at our level, out of work (for being crap) managers, or someone from lower/foreign leagues who are unproven here but fancy a crack in England and aren't already at a decent club.

Top managers is the sense of top quality, proven almost guaranteed good appointment managers don't tend to fall into those categories.

Actually ... I dont believe a "Top proven Manager"  could even do a good job, at a club like Leicester.

They have Totally a different mind set.

History wise....How many have taken a club from Depths of AVG..... and non Fashionable, made them great , Giving them 7-10yr successfull

Platform, and then has remained a great themselves through the years....

Shankley-Liverpool,  Clough-Forest-Derby,  B.Robson-Ipswich (maybe).Allardyce-Bolton (not quite)

Even through Europe.we've seen alot of great managers, but how many started, stayed, then continued elsewhere,

By pulling a club out of 'also ran' status....

98%  made and Kept their name by managing big clubs, then doing the rounds.

We tend to under-hype  the successfull managers, by not recognising and giving dues, to different achievements.

Pullis, Pardew, Hughes, Dyche, NPearson, Mickey  Adams, B.Little (Ranieri )etc etc, , Not real top managers, but well

Crafted and grafted Careers.
