I was hoping he would be the one who got some of the blame over this and will be sacked!

Same, maybe Abrasive can enlighten us.

I think i remember him saying in another thread that there has been lots of finger pointing but no one owning up and taking the blame....

Suspect there were multiple reasons why this transfer failed including other clubs being difficult and making last minute demands not to mention FIFA. I actually feel sorry for the poor chap who struggled to get the papers through in the last minute.

I suppose the question is how did we get dragged into this last minute scramble in the first place and what can we learn from it.Hope Silva is a  success but to date how many last gasp purchases have really made an impact anyway?

Nothing more really needs to be said, off the pitch the club are a complete shambles and no other club would get themselves into this position.

Coventry?

Out of the last 14 signings and 157m spent only 2 players have managed to become 1st team regulars. Maguire and Ndidi. That is woeful. This Silva fiasco is just the latest in what has been an absolute shambles of recruitment policy for the past 4 Windows.

On the other hand, it could be that the recruited players are, on the whole, perfectly adequate and it's a failure by our management in not managing to integrate them successfully into our teams.

It is the lack of a long-term vision that baffles me. Even if they thought Shakespeare was the first choice, at least look around, ask questions of potential candidates, as it was we just waited for no good reason to appoint a man they already had in place. If he was to be sacked, or even chose to resign, in the near future, who do we have in mind?

The recruitment has been scattergun for 15 months, the decision to let players go before replacing them has backfired hugely and the general feel of the club at the moment is one of acceptance of mediocrity, both on and off the pitch.

Nobody expected the title win, but then nobody expected us to fall back so gracelessly and in such an underwhelming fashion. The football has been rotten, the attitude appalling, the PR at times terrible. Even the decision to back this disgraceful attempt to make the rich clubs richer is pathetic and misguided.

I knew we'd have a comedown from the highest high we'll have, but they've made it so unenjoyable.

Fan power.

We need to get our feelings known.

I noticed a few months ago, end of last season maybe? I think a few of the young scholars/academy lads were awarded with things and Rudkin was bought out at half time - there were boos building, I assume aimed at him.

He might not be the person to blame (Although I think he might have had his part to play) but he is the face of the team that need to answer questions, he is the one that needs to explain what went wrong and what goes wrong transfer window after transfer window, I can't wait for the next saga in the next transfer window because whilst he is still there and this 'team' is still there, there will be one, I guarantee it.

Rudkin Out?!

I'm not sure we've upgraded in this area since League One?

...It shows.

Good point. Regardless there is something fundamentally wrong right now. It's not that long ago we were very professionally run all the way through.

An angry, teary-eyed man with anger so intense he can neither hear anyone or respond to rational argument explodes through the dressing room door, swinging his out-stretched arm in a voilent arc stopping suddenly on the eleven year-old ball girl shouting "GGGGOOOOOO!!!! NO MORE OF YOUR ROTTEN FOOTBALLING NONSENSE", his eyes a blood-shot picture of unreasoning desparation, while Rudkin exhales his weekly sigh of nervous relief.

Someone?

The only person that was recently sacked is, in my opinion, the one that shouldn't have been (now that we know what we know).

I'd start clearing out the back room and those whiney little ladies that some call footballers !

Sigh. Regardless of the blame game; we really did truly grandly fu<k up all opportunities after the accomplishment of winning the league didn't we!

John Rudkin. Do away with a Director of Football and let the manager have total control over which players come and go.

..and trust Shaky.....no way

I'd argue 4 windows as we were shockingly poor in the final days of the January window when we won the league.

Good point actually. Overlooked because we got away with it but we still left it until deadline day (AGAIN) and failed to do what we wanted to do (AGAIN).

Absolute shambles behind the scenes. We are handicapped until it changes.

The one thing that is really bugging me about the whole Drinkwater/Silva fiasco is that we have/had a player in Mendy who everyone has been saying was/is too similar to Drinkwater in terms of style of play, yet the moment Drinkwater decides it's time to move on we ship out the one player we have who could step in and fill the void (even temporarily). The fact that we've loaned Mendy out (presumably with no recall option) meaning that he is still an LCFC player while this whole fiasco is going on in the background just adds insult to injury. I'd be questioning his sale had he been sold but at least we could argue that we secured a fee, however a loan at a time when it was well known for several months that Drinkwater's head was elsewhere is inexcusable in my view. Heads have to roll for such poor mismanagement.
