See, I don't know about his spell at Southampton (but i've seen the stats, and they're impressive) but having lived in Nice a few years back, I followed the Nice games under his management and he knows his football.

Also don't like we had "entertaining" football under Shakespeare..

Yes but we sacked ****ing Shakespeare so that’s not where the bar is we should be aiming for.

I don’t understand this at all.

Our team needs to be offensive to be at its best; we sack Shakespeare quite rightly for being too cautious and therefore not getting the performances; we play two games and win them playing more attacking and positive football....

We then hire a bloke who in all his career cannot get a team to score many goals; a bloke who was sacked a matter of months ago for being to defensive.

Just **** off you clueless wankers.

No, but Vardy, Kasper and Wes speak excellent French so all good.

Aww, Keysy is upset that one of his tawdry mates hasn't been given the job. How sad.

I’m consistently seeing reports of 0-0 & 1-0, decent possession with high chance creation, with a very low chance conversion rate. I think he’ll do well here because our players generally take chances :)

Why would you fly first class to NY. Not even 7 hours, massive waste of money that!

You can drink a lot of champagne in 7 hours.

Well good luck to him. Might be the breath of fresh air that we need. Not encouraged with what Southampton fans say but we do need a bit of a shake up and I hope he can bring that.

This is very interesting Appleton is second best then..

What?!! Either he's been had with a practical joke or Appleton is gonna destroy our new manager first thing. ??

I’m not surprised by the negativity on here,it’s par for the course.Myself I think it’s a shrewd appointment.I wish him the best of luck.It worries me that John Collins had first refusal on assistant managers job and announces it on tv.Im glad that Collins has refused. From what I know of him,he’s a divisive person.Appleton has suddenly become very popular on here after two wins.If Collins is telling the truth about job offer,I can’t see Appleton lasting too long.

It's going to be interesting to see how this pans out, that's for sure.

One of the things that's stuck out to me is that despite the poor scoring record at Southampton, they supposedly had quite a high number of chances and shots, the only issue was that their strike force was weak and unable to put them away.

At Leicester, he'll have Vardy who had one of the best shot conversion rates in the league when we won it, Mahrez who can score for fun when he feels like it, and Iheanacho who last year had the best goals per minute of any regular Prem player.

Not to mention, our midfield is going to be much better than theirs was once Silva is available, with Iborra looking up to speed and Ndidi/James also available.

We've got strong options at the back, too, with good depth.

Plenty of youth as well who are going to get a chance to impress.

If he can get us playing with a bit more purpose then this could work very well indeed...

Given that we won the premier title sorry but this has to be the worse appointment we ever made maybe after Frank Mclintock.

You have to be joking......Taylor, Holloway, Leveine, Sousa,Allen, I could go on....ask recall nobody wanted Claudio.......give the man a chance....

Fact:

Puel's Lyon knocked Manuel Pellegrini's Real Madrid (including Cristiano Ronaldo) out of the 2009/10 Champions League round of 16 (1-0, 1-1). Furthermore, Madrid have gone beyond that round every year since.

We obviously got the right man!?

Yes, better than Ranieri anyway. Search on YouTube for his interview a year ago when he joined Saints. Presume it will have improved as well since.
