So Maguire can play football, but he's a centre half. Leaves huge gaps, doesn't have the recovery pace. He was initially marking Crouch for the corner they scored their second equaliser from. I would be getting very annoyed if I was Dragovic. You were rimming him on Twitter a couple weeks ago regarding being picked for England so make your mind up You should have stuck with your initial conclusion that he was bang average at best

Sampson Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Maguire has definitely been overrated so far tbf. Clearly this thread is hyperbole, but at the same time: the posts calling him quality or consistently solid are hyperbole as well. He's been very erratic and inconsistent for us so far and has switched off too often and for a player of his size he gets pushed off the ball too often by smaller players. Morgan and Simpson have definitely had much better seasons so far as our defenders go. You can tell there is potentially a quality player there if he improves his concentration and cuts out his mistakes and his one-to-one strength. So I have absolutely no problem with us playing him to try and get that to improve over the long term as I'm sure he'll come good. But, some of you guys are definitely seriously overrating him. He's not been anything like quality or one of best players so far this season yet and has been at fault for far too many opposition goals and opposition gilt-edge chances, more than some of you are willing to admit.
leicesterlad1989 Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 He's over rated by fans as he's a centre half who can actually play football. If we are looking to play a passing game then he is crucial as he doesnt treat the ball like a grenade. People need to realise he's not the finished article. Similar abuse has been aimed at Stones in the past. English football is trying to progress so let not give the lad too much stick. Morgan has been solid this season and Huth is a great defender but i think the way Maguire plays suits us. If we are being critical of defenders then Fuchs is the one to be dropped. He also played a part in their goals. He appears to be off the pace, which i hate to say as he has been one of my favourite signings in recent years.
SheppyFox Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Fuchs Maguire and King were all at fault, so I blame King.
lgfualol Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 I love Maguire. Going back to Huth would be depressing - wouldnt be surprised if he was finished at this level with his injury. Wouldnt be upset to see Dragovic get a go.
Fox 4 Life Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 WTF has Morgan done to be dropped, he's been immense.

Strokes Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 How many goals have we scored because him though? He laid it on for Iborra today and has done a few other times this season.

You have to take into consideration that he is still very young for a centre half and still learning. He might make some mistakes but he is a good player with massive potential.
ZeGuy Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Shit thread. You bunch of ungrateful fans. You'll cry when he's gone next summer.

Farrington fox Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 This seasons Morgan can’t be compared to last, wtf has happened I don’t know, he’s rejuvenated I hope it continues.

M0901 Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Do people just WANT Morgan out? I actually think he's been one of our better performers this season. In my head he's the first choice centre half.

Upto and including last summer, he hardly had a break in 6 yrs....He had a bigger breather this summer...it shows. So far 1 of our top 4 performers on consistency this season.... FFS get off Maguires back, his performances are still alot better, than most posters on here. If you havent noticed....all defenders make mistakes, he is playing now at a few points higher level. Patience is the name of the game.... Plus, I would have no problem if their is some rotation, but not because I think any pairing would be weaker.
Sunbury Fox Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 Wow, astonished by this thread. Yes, Harry wasn't at his best today but I love the way he plays - it's a pleasure having players in defence who are composed on the ball and he is generally fine defending. But he did struggle with Crouch more than I expected. He needs to learn from that. It's true that Huth is the master of dealing with the likes of Crouch but I think if we are to move forward we need to have defenders who are comfortable on the ball. Oh, and I must agree with others. Wes has been excellent this term.

That is allowed....
Aus Fox Posted 4 November 2017 Posted 4 November 2017 FoxesTalk summed up perfectly in one thread. Give youth a chance drop them if straight away though if they make a mistake. He's been directly at fault for 7 goals, (questionable at best) Let's not mentioned last ditch tackles and headers won saving us goals. or the fact he has directly been involved in about 7 goals in our favour. To balance things out, one of the problems we have is readjusting our marking from corners when the opposition makes a substitute - there was heated words between Fuchs and Maguire directly after their second goal as both clearly thought the other should have picked up Crouch. Also it was a sublime header from the tallest man in the history of the world. 1st goal, now Maguire shouldn't have stepped up there is no doubting that so has to shoulder some of the blame. But, where was Ndidi? If he was there doing his job there is no need for Harry to step up. Moving forwards Maguire and Morgan will be out first choice CB, but I think Chilwell and Amartey will be the changes in the backline. If Puel sees Chiwell as a winger, I would make a move on Luke Shaw in January.
