dynamark Posted 8 November 2017 Posted 8 November 2017 Remember that game weekday evening I was hanging on the wire fence in the kop. Len Glover nearly broke the crossbar with a shot from distance .That night was an atmosphere for sure
biggs Posted 8 November 2017 Posted 8 November 2017 Usually the optimist but MC are a different team this year.....their one or two touch play is much improved as is their off the ball play....add to that they accelerate their intensity against all opposition to get the ball back if misplayed. Typically the best way to play a team like this is to match their intensity in recovering the ball when in the opposition half. That's if we want a few sniffs at goal and not a constant onslaught. Pressure their back line as much as possible.....make them think quick a bit back there....mistakes may occur Any stupid free kicks given outside our box and we will likely pay...maybe try holding the player...not literally. MC corners....go back to 3 on the centre line.....worth a go a few times.....don't think we have much to lose other than goal difference but force their hand once in a while instead of them forcing ours the entire match You're welcome Oh yeah the score 6 goals....how they're shared....hmmmm
vanity Posted 9 November 2017 Posted 9 November 2017 MC scores a goal every 5.1 shots. MC scores 3.45 goals per game. We need to be smart when we have the ball and give our defense a rest. When we have the opportunity to counter, we need to commit and attack, but if Kasper makes a save or Ndidi makes an interception, and there is no immediate opportunity to push, we need to take some time off the clock by playing ball control. Slow the game down, reduce their number of shots on goal by frustrating them with lateral and backwards passing. Yes, it will be ugly, but that is how you beat teams like MC -- if you gift them their usual 18 or so shots on goal, they will score their 3+. But if we cut that down to around ten shots on goal, we suddenly cut their goal expectancy down to around 2 or so, and we have a game that is in our reach. What we absolutely cannot do under any circumstances is what we did at Man U and just bunker down to defend. They will rip us apart if we do that. Commit to our counterattacks with numbers. Slow the game down when there is no advantage in pushing the ball forward. Maybe don't cut the grass these two weeks, then water the shit out of the field the morning of. Get them out of rhythm and pressing with ugly, slow football, maybe we can steal a result.
Wymsey Posted 9 November 2017 Posted 9 November 2017 It feels like some are fearing them too much imo, as if they're one of the best sides in history - but they still have defensive flaws in them at times. I feared a bit when Guardiola came to the King Power last season, but we were cruising after just 20 minutes.. I think these are actually the type of sides our style-of-play is more-suited to adopt against. As doubt they'll sit back like Mourinho-esque sides often do for much of the game, and still view both Kyle Walker and John Stones as sometimes vulnerable defensively (despite their transfer fee rates when they arrived at the club). With some rest now, Fuchs and Morgan can use their experience to cope with what their attacking qualities could bring towards them; just hope Maguire learns from his positional errors at Stoke and sure he'll thrive on this different challenge.
UPinCarolina Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Stones is much improved, but we have a chance on the wings. We’re confident and have time to plan. I am hoping against hope, but we’ve been up against it before.
waylander Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 2-2 ever the optimist I think the knickers being thrown at Iborra from both sets of fans could turn the game. Or an ankle . Hope it's only the girls throwing them. ? Am am I allowed to say that . ?

We need to go after them all over the pitch, and show neither fear nor respect, just as we did in our title-winning season.

Chico1958 Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 I won't be holding my breath on this one could be so painful or worse Then again, they can't take this memory away from me The day I actually started believing the impossible could happen........ and it actually did
funkyrobot Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Thoughts? Sterling guaranteed to dive - resulting in a Man City Pen. De Bruyne to run things. Pep to wear casual attire including some box fresh sneakers. Man City to win courtesy of some questionable decisions (including the penalty) and MOTD to ignore the contentious points and instead focus in how amazing a team costing 100s of millions of pounds are. We’ll get a brief comment saying something like ‘they’ll be ok’ but nothing else.

I said "we need to go after them all over the pitch and show them neither fear nor respect", and I stick with that. Had we shown that same attitude since the title win, even with the loss of Kante, we would not have seen such an abysmal title defence and we would have been in a much better position both last season and this. We arguably have a better squad than that season and, even though the top team squads have improved too, I believe that we should be able to approach any match without fear and with self-belief.
Webbo Posted 11 November 2017 Posted 11 November 2017 I'm actuality looking forward to chance to take them on. Nobody expects us to do anything, to beat them would be massive.

SuperMike Posted 12 November 2017 Posted 12 November 2017 Hope the arrogant s*d underestimates us again and we stuff them. Don't think they would react well if we showed some early get-at-them, attacking intent. Want to see that smug look wiped off his face. 3-2 Leicester.

lcfc sheff Posted 12 November 2017 Posted 12 November 2017 I think puel could tinker and go 532. counter attacks.
