do we need another midfielder in the bext window?

just wondering do we need to buy another midfielder, and i know we will have SILVA. this will give us 3 GOOD midfielders. but we have very lucky that NIDIDI AND IBBORRA have not been injured and have played every game, but they will need a rest at some stage. it appears that the new boss does not want to use KING and James is always injured. would he look at bringing in 1 more, just for cover, so we can push on for that top 5 finish.

Keep seeing clickbait articles floating about that N'Zonzi is one of our targets.

Honestly don't think we need one with Iborra and Ndidi playing so well and Silva coming in. Plus we'll have James back from injury soon, our saviour Andy King

Iborra, N'didi, Silva, Amartey, King, James, Chowdray, possibly Mendy...

We don't need any more.  It's more a case of keeping the players we have happy.  I wouldn't be bothered if we signed no one in January.

No I think we need a right back and a winger. Silva coming in is the new midfield signing.

Jan will likely be about offloading more than anything.

I don't think we need a midfielder, maybe right back cover.

Nice to clear a few out and hold onto Mahrez.

Holding on to Mahrez would be the biggest coup, it would not matter if we signed no one else if we could just keep him. Sadly it ain't going to happen.

Not for me, I’m January I want us to buy cover for Simpson, possibly another CB and I want us to offload a striker or two if necessary.

It goes without saying that we will also need to replace anyone that leaves (cough Mahrez).

I heard from a credible source, (may have been a smoke screen but who knows'), that Puel is content with what he has at his disposal so may be very little activity incoming but 2/3 may be offloaded as most of us expected.

We could do with these players now as we have 7 games coming up between now and New Year's Day. Once January comes we play mostly once a week for the rest of the season.

The workload this month will be mainly on the midfield four or five we play. The central defence, left back and striker position can be rotated. Ndidi and Iborra will be playing a lot of football this month and Mahrez, Gray and Albrighton usually cover the three behind the striker so that can only be supplemented by Okazaki and Chilwell so they'll be busy too.

Looking forwards Harvey Barnes will probably be a squad player next season and we have Silva available after New Year's Day. I would probably expect us the bring Ben Arfa in and a couple of forwards to be sold. Slimani for sure and maybe one of Ulloa or Musa.

I think James may be finished, unfortunately, however, Puel will have Silva at his disposal and is prepared to play Choudrey in big games, so I don't think he will go out and buy another midfielder. Would like to see us get Ben Arfa and the Fulham right back (Is it Ryan Sessegnon?) in. I pretty sure we will off load Slimani, Benalouane and Musa (if anyone will take him) and I can see Amartey leaving, possibly on loan, as well. As a previous poster mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mendy back at the club, particularly with the style of play Puel wants us to play.

Right back and Centre Back are more crucial positions. If Mahrez goes than Ben Arfa to come in, think you may see a few strikers go with one coming in.

Quite happy for Puel to keep looking into our academy though for replacements.

If not during January then surely next close season, we need another more mobile centre back. Morgan can’t go on forever, and I would argue Huths days at the top level are behind him. Dragovic seems unable to make an impact and Benny isn’t the answer.

If that's true it's the sign of a very good manager who is content with what he has and will keep his tinder dry for the summer.

I remember the chairman over Peter Taylor (the worst manager we've ever had by some distance) said he always wanted the money to buy that one extra player despite wasting millions on dross. He said some managers will just spend everything you give them.

We have a very good first XI and a big squad so the only players we should be buying in January are those Puel really wants or not at all. No more buying multi million Pound players who can't get a game.

It depends if we are going to continue with a 2 man midfield and Silva is going to play there and not as a CAM, if we continue with a midfield 2, then we have Silva, Iborra and Ndidi all capable of playing there, with King, Amartey, James, Hamza as back up, 6-7 players for 2 positions is enough (I know one is injured, one is very young and one is cover for RB, but you need balance in your squad).

If we switch to a 3 man midfield then arguably we need more cover, but in the case of injuries we can just go back to a 2 man midfield. With Mendy and Barnes to come back into it next season we will  hopefully have the cover for a few more years. CB and RB are more pressing issues, with Huth seemingly crocked, Dragovic only here on loan and not really in favour, Benny also seemingly not up to it, we would should be looking at a good young CB to take over from Morgan, and a RB, obviously. Then if any of our attackers leave we might need some cover for them.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Puel recalled Mendy, if not now then at the end of the season.

Nice have the option to buy at the end of the season, so a lot will depend on them.

It depends what Puel is wanting to do, plus who comes on the market...

If we can up our quality, either as cover or immediate fit in for turn-around and plan B why not.

For January its nice for once, not to be desperate, but imo there will be more movement in the summer...

We are in the first games of this new set-up and developement, Puel , like any manager will be looking for new blood, no matter how we fair, from January - EOS..

We might slip below 12th, we might hold top 10, we might push top 6.

Various priorities will then be seen to be prudent.

Do we 'need'  ( for January)...IMHO....No
