Finnegan Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 I'm not even trolling, because let's face it there's no Spurs even reading this anyway, but they were literally never in a title race this year. Nobody with a brain has ever considered them to be in competition with Liverpool and Man City. It was just dumb. 3

It's impressive how many results they've managed to grind out whilst playing below their best, it will be interesting to see how they react next season when they'll finally have a home stadium and maybe even bought a new player or two (wouldn't hold out on that though).

It’ll be their first year in the stadium so can’t see it making much of a difference to this season really.
AjcW Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 Been meaning to say this for a while, but James Milner is a severely underrated player. Just a proper footballer. Gives 100% and is so vital to this Liverpool team at the minute! Its a a shame he quit England really... he could have been the missing piece in 2018, and he’d be a real help for the young lads going into 2020. 1

Motioning at Mahrez to get his act together with a pronounced shrug of the shoulders and a look that could kill, De Bruyne left City’s record £60 million signing in little doubt that he expected better, much better. De Bruyne’s frustration did not peak there, though, and as the first half drifted to a close with West Ham United standing firm and City struggling for inspiration, Mahrez seemed to have resolved that it was better not to look in the Belgian’s direction, perhaps fearful of the daggers he would be shot. There was a woeful misplaced pass to West Ham’s Michail Antonio, an overhit pass that zoomed right through to Lukasz Fabianski in the visiting team’s goal and another occasion when he overran the ball. Some fans were even shouting for him to be dragged off after half an hour. they don't deserve him tbh, buying him then not starting him. chucking him in against crappy teams that are below his level. it's mahrez that should be mad.

Stoopid Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 Hmm..club gets rid of a manager with limited English, who comes across as a bit dull, who can't buy a win, and replace him with a charismatic title-winner to push their under-performing side up the table. Worked well for Fulham, didn't it?

They never were in it as it was clear for months that the title race would be played between Liverpool and M.City. They only came close because MCFC switched off for a short period. As soon as they engaged the next gear, Spuds were nowhere to be seen. The journos made it a three horse race for the clicks and the (inevitable) banter. They neither have the squad depth nor strenght to compete with the two and frankly are already punching above their weight given their lack of financial investment.

Capable of playing in multiple positions, gives full effort every single match, consistent 7-8/10 performances, does the simple stuff well and doesn't over-complicate things. Model pros. 1

Obviously not personal to himself but all the idiots what slated us sacking him. He just doesn't have the ability to arrest a slide down the table and stop the rot. People are seeing what we saw at Fulham - a complete disconnect with the squad and a very few original ideas. I think appointing someone like Big Sam would have seen them pick up more points and potentially even stay up. They're doomed now, their next 6 games are so tough - inbetween us they've got Chelsea and Liverpool.
UniFox21 Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 (edited) They're as good as down now, 3 managers in a year is never a good sign Edited 28 February 2019 by UniFox21
Fox In The Box 90 Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 Ranieri was given a badly assembled squad of another managers players who were already failing and had 3 months to try and make a change. Harsh on him really. They must have expected he would keep them up but it was a huge ask and definitely down now.
davieG Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 Premier League champions Manchester City have signed a long-term kit deal with Germany's Puma, replacing their current agreement with Nike. The size of the deal was not disclosed, but media reports suggest it could be worth up to £65m a year for 10 years. It will come into effect in July and also covers sister clubs in Australia, Spain, Uruguay and China. Puma chief executive Bjorn Gulden said it was the biggest deal his firm had ever done. He said Puma wanted to "maximise on-field performance as well as football culture, in areas such as music, gaming and fashion, to connect and inspire the fanbase of each team". Mr Gulden said the deal with City included a fixed retainer, a bonus based on sporting achievements and a royalty element. Ferran Soriano, boss of the club's holding company City Football Group (CFG), said: "It is a historic day for us. What we are doing has not been done before. It is an unprecedented partnership." Mr Sorriano said the sponsorship agreement would "reset the model for sports partnerships on a truly global scale". Sports sponsorship expert Nigel Currie told the BBC that the deal reflected the changing nature of sports sponsorship and the increasingly global nature of the Premier League's appeal. He added: "Merchandising is vital. It's not pure sponsorship, it's a commercial deal. It will be all about replica kit sales and creating a range of merchandise for the fashion world." The other clubs covered by the deal are Melbourne City, Girona, Club Atletico Torque and Sichuan Jiunjiu. The Chinese club was added to CFG's stable earlier this month. The deal covers men's, women's and youth teams at every club. Other big sponsorship deals in English football include Manchester United's tie-up with Adidas, which is reportedly worth £75m a year, and Nike's agreement with Chelsea. Puma already has deals with a number of top European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Marseille.
fazzyfox Posted 28 February 2019 Posted 28 February 2019 Top bants from an Arsenal fan Having said that - Arsenal, they of "never being in the race at all and could struggle to get Champions League". Like when they asked our boys "Who are ya" - champions, that's who. Let them both continue setting their sights on just finishing above each other. 1
Stadt Posted 1 March 2019 Posted 1 March 2019 It's funny that for all their progress Spurs will finish between 3rd and 4th at best. Pochettino is the glue that holds it all together given their comparative lack of resources or spending; when he goes they'll be overtaken by Arsenal and Man United and it's back to square one with a bigger ground.
fuchsntf Posted 1 March 2019 Posted 1 March 2019 3rd spot relegation..seems to be between Cardiff/Soton/Brighton...I don't have preferences or dislikes of any of the clubs...frankly I couldn't care!! soft spot for Brighton, because they have played good football ... I can see for media-pundits that Southamton would be the surprise team to go down.... without dislikes, because that doesn't decide the relegation battle...who do the posters think will be taking the drop, could there be a 4th or 5th team still in the mix... I am sure Burnley will come strong...Palace will imo, pick up vital points...

If Pochettino does go,do you think they will not find another good top manager..?? That even with player movement, they can't hold onto competing for top 4.?? Hey understand no sarcastic questions...just actual interest how you think Spurs near future will pan out..
