I've met some really friendly Burney fans though and I wouldn't begrudge them a European tour like we had. They're a provincial club punching above their weight - kudos to them. Aberdeen got about a twentieth for finishing second than Burnley got for finishing 7th. Financially, Burnley are much bigger. And Aberdeen are, by definition, about as provincial as you can get. Their recent forays into Europe have been very brief. So some kudos to Aberdeen, too. Of course, from a selfish Leicester City point of view, of course we want Burnley to progress and play in the group stages and be weaker for it. But I know more Aberdonians than Burnleyers....
orangecity23 Posted 2 August 2018 Posted 2 August 2018 Hope that Aberdeen win, then Burnley's forums are forever filled with Aberdeen fans who spend all their time banging on about how much more money Burnley have, so that they can finally get some idea of how tedious it is listening to them and Dyche moaning about cash all the time.

yorkie1999 Posted 2 August 2018 Posted 2 August 2018 So Burnley yet again get 2 draws in a game where away goals count. ffs.

MC Prussian Posted 2 August 2018 Posted 2 August 2018 Oh, well. Feel for Aberdeen, but there's still 15 minutes to play... One goal and they go through on the away goal rule.
Vacamion Posted 2 August 2018 Posted 2 August 2018 Ah well Aberdeen fans, it's just a six hour drive northwards to get home...
MC Prussian Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 Respect to both Aberdeen and Burnley. Aberdeen for putting Burnley to the brink of elimination. Did the whole of Scotland proud with that display, spectacular equalizer by Ferguson, as well. Burnley for progressing one stage further, now facing Istanbul Basaksehir. Say hello to Gökhan for me:

lancyclaret Posted 6 August 2018 Posted 6 August 2018 Olympiakos or Lucerne if we can get past Istanbul - unlikely. But if we do get past the Turks, I can see us beating Olympiakos/Lucerne and getting to group stage (not ideal).
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 August 2018 Posted 6 August 2018 If Hibs beat Molde it's likely they'll play Zenit.

purpleronnie Posted 6 August 2018 Posted 6 August 2018 Quote UEFA have told the Clarets that 2,000 wooden seats in the away end at Turf Moor must be removed and replaced with new plastic seats if they progress beyond the qualifying rounds.
Wymsey Posted 8 August 2018 Posted 8 August 2018 Burnley are only taking 17 players for their game in Istanbul tomorrow. They'll be lucky to get away from such a hostile place with a point.

Some of those champions league games from a decade or so involving Galataseray looked electric. A point would be a pretty good result for them. I suspect they'll lose though, same as you.
Wymsey Posted 9 August 2018 Posted 9 August 2018 Am surprised that their game today is not on television live anywhere. I know it's just a qualifying round, but BT or Sky should follow and broadcast these games (smaller English clubs in the tournament etc) imo.

I'm surprised Burnley or Rangers' games aren't on anywhere, even on Premier Sports or FreeSports.
yorkie1999 Posted 9 August 2018 Posted 9 August 2018 2 shots, none on target and 28% possession, thrilling.
wardyfox86 Posted 16 August 2018 Posted 16 August 2018 Fair play to Burnley putting out one of the most British lineups for a European game in probably most of our lifetimes They're prepared for Brexit.
leicsmac Posted 16 August 2018 Posted 16 August 2018 Absolutely insane match between Zenit SP and Dinamo Minsk tonight. Dinamo 4-0 up from the first leg, ZSP only 1-0 up in the 65th minute of the second leg tonight, score a second goal, get a man sent off and then score two more to force extra time, and then score three more in the last five minutes of ET (including two pens and a Dinamo red card) to win the match 8-1 and 8-5 on aggregate. UEFA might want to take a look at that one.
