foxfanazer Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 We’ve completed football if we make this deal happen 3 1
Guest bss9401 Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 The deal will turn out to be 500 quid down with £39999500 in various performance bonuses spread over 15 years.

Cash rich the Saudis may be but their not idiots. They'll roughly know his worth (the true one being less than we paid) and they'll also know he's been out on loan and there may have been other loan offers. Leicester for example would snap their hands off for 16m let's face it, great business. They're money will be spent in huge wages trying to get Musa to go there. A sensible post in a sea of hysteria. Of course you'll be right and there's a snowball's chance in hell we get £40m for Musa. Everyone knows we want to sell and we aren't exactly beating the buyers off.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that Saudi Arabia is different culturally and societally than Nigeria or the UK, whether a practicing Muslim or not. Yes, then there’s the whole Shia-Sunni thing.
foxy boxing Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 If we can get 30 - 40 million for this guy then rip their bloody hand off! would be absolutely amazing to get more money than we paid for him.

That’s weird. We’re doing the stealing AND gaining a hand. Normally, it works the other way round in Saudi ! Edited 17 July 2018 by TrentFox 3
sphericalfox Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 This surely has got to be utter ballocks. Musa was unhappy about not playing, and he's going to disappear in the Middle East for a couple of years for a payday? Seems to me that someone is doing us a favour or two by feigning interest and setting a high bar for his price. I imagine that we'll get a few low-ball European enquiries half that price and we'll snigger as we accept for 15-20m and reinvest this.
MPH Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 He’s well paid here. I was even considering wether it would be sensible to just cancel his contract and save on wages. 40 million? Lol

We would have to pay him up in full in one lump fee. That's why they have contracts so they can't get binned off.
Lesta2014 Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 Anyone think it’s ploy from his agent to get him new contract here after half decent World Cup?

I think maybe the phrase I meant was 'mutual termination' which frees both sides from the contractual obligation and would benefit us both.
murphy Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 If we cancelled his contract we'd have to pay his outstanding wages too.
FoxFossil Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 How much did the Thais pay for the club? Turns out it's a money making machine if we can get £30m let alone £40m for Musa. Sell off Slim and the rest of the fringe players and the new training centre is for free! Loadsa money!

Hadn’t even linked that until now. Unbelievable business!!!
KingsX Posted 17 July 2018 Posted 17 July 2018 Ahead of the curve buying a continental feeder club to keep signing foreign players post-Brexit. Now an accidental innovation. Sign Sunni players good enough to destroy lower leagues, showcase them in loans, and sell to the Saudis. n.b. This would NOT work for Jahanbakhsh.

We are about £15m in credit from transfers this window, plus £40m for Musa, guessing £10m for Slim, £5m for Mendy, and £5m for James, King, Amartey together, totals £75m ish, to offset against initial purchase. Don't think we'll be making any big signings and the owners are shrewed. Guess the reason they stick with Puel is his reputation at bringing through youth players, which raises their value, which is sound financially provided we can stay in the Prem. Just because they have loads of money doesn't mean they are going to spend it; maybe they have learnt from past transfer window mistakes?
