This!

great post but this will be lost on most people here cheap automatically = garbage ( Mahrez Vardy Fuchs etc ) and expensive  automatically = fantastic ( Musa Slimani Mendy )

Totally agree and ok he’s not played loads for Monaco but they must have seen something in him and they are a fairly big club.

Fuch me. Hold the front page. Video showing a highly paid professional footballer can pass the ball.

Even if there's quite a bit more going on than just passing, it's not as if a chunk of our current squad could do with some lessons in that department. Highly paid as they are.

F*** me if the the reverse camera angle at exactly 8:03 isn't the spit of our recently departed sweet princess...

Give the guy a chance. Riyad came here as a £400k nobody, no one in France rated him and the Algerians classed him as garbage. Combined with his natural talent and our talent coaches, he’s now a £60 million player. The opinion has changed somewhat.

You can see from the video, this guy has natural talent and in Puel a manger who knows his strengths and weaknesses. If we coach him right and he applies himself, we may have a player on our hands.

The finished article is never never going to be a target of ours.

I back Puel’s judgement on players. He has proven that before.

Bit far-fetched to compare Mahrez at age 23, on the brink of calling it quits at Le Havre, with Ghezzal, stuck in Ligue 1 limbo, at age 26. They are/were some distance apart in terms of personal development. Ghezzal is now one year younger than Mahrez and apparently at a watershed moment in his career.

I'd rather pay 5m for Ghezzal than 20m+ for Januzaj.

Looking at his YT vid looks quite similar to Mahrez

Yeah similarities stop at both Algerian

I've actually seen Thorgan Hazard play a few times, he really isn't the second coming that some people on here would have you believe. There's a good player in there, but he's far from the finished article.

People are slightly biased when speaking of him due to his brother.

I think we have a special team going through FT posts every morning then reporting back to the board D.O.F etc with their findings. Based on this info they go out and source potential signing and if FT mambers feel it’s too cheap they bang a few million on .?

FREE THE WEATHERFIELD ONE

I wouldn't mind having Albert Tatlock as one of the CB partners against Manure.  Would add some mobility.

Why not loan him with a view to buy if he's any good and buy someone at least proven for a few years like Quincy or Hazard, can't believe we've had two years to find a replacement for when we sell Mahrez and are fannying about like this.

I think the transfer fee of £5million, makes loaning him bit pointless. We are always likely to be able to shift him for little loss in a year, as he is only 26 and will still be worth a few million in a year, even if flops.

I think loans make more sense when the transfer fee is a lot higher, and so much more of a risk if they do flop and we are unable to get our money back.

Because if he has a blinder we will have to pay £30m+

If he's available for £5m we might as well buy!

Musa out, Ghezzal in. The latter actually looks like he can control a ball

He recovered OK, but it made me laugh that it was 34 seconds in.

Is this now the new Jahanbakhsh thread where we post the same YouTube highlights video over and over again?

Mine was from a particular point in time 34 seconds, to highlight that his ball control wasn't necessarily as described. No need to watch the whole thing... it starts at the point I wanted to make!

Not neccessarily comparing to Mahrez in terms of what he can achieve. However, only an absolute turnip would not recognise that some players, regardless of age, past performance and/or attitude react better at some clubs, under certain managers and under certain coaching methods.

Puel has history of getting results from players others have struggled with. If the manager is throwing his hat on this guy, he has a reason. His videos show he has some technical ability (like Riyad did, when he came) and though in his mid-20s that technical ability, with the right programme, coaching and man management could be an asset.

Writing him off from the getgo would be foolish.

The thought of Puel’s man management makes me shudder.
