Best to keep your nut down mate, they're proper hoolis in Manchester. Heard one lad got his lunch money stolen from him last year. Be careful bro.

Fan from Thailand here. Just moved to Leicester 6 months ago and been to three home games so far (no wins :().

The game against Man united will be my first away match and I'm going alone. Any tips? I'm super excited but also don't want to do anything stupid or be the tourist fan who ruins the atmosphere.

Also, I will be in Manchester all day. Probably not a good idea to wear LCFC shirt walking around, right?

Welcome to Leicester.

You'll be fine, just enjoy it.

Advice?   If it looks like Benny and Wes are the starting CB duo - don't go.

Welcome!

Just enjoy it mate, but obviously use common sense. Personally I would wear something over my city shirt until I'm inside the ground, but that's just my personal preference, chances are you'll be fine. As long as you don't do anything stupid to antagonise someone I usually find opposition fans are happy to chat and discuss all things football. As I say, just enjoy it :)

No different to a home game really other than you're more likely to need to stand depending on where your seat is.

Sit or stand, either way just watch the game, it's what we're all there for. If you want to sing, sing, if you don't you're not "ruining the atmosphere". You've paid a lot for the ticket, it's yours to enjoy however you please.

Controversial! What happens if he wears a replica kit?

Reads very similar to that thread with the girl who wanted to know if she should go to the Notts County friendly with her Leicester shirt on

You'll be fine in your Leicester shirt. I walk around most places with mine on prior to games. I'm looking to get to Manchester early on Friday too.

Once you're inside we're all there with the same objective of supporting the club and hoping for points.

Some Manc pubs have a no football colours policy. But most are fine. I've occasionally seen dickheads looking for someone to shout at but it's fairly rare.

Go on the Ticket News & Travel thread and find out what pub everyone is planning on mobbing and then head there. Don’t wear your shirt all day, especially as you’re alone. You’d  probably be fine if you wore your shirt, but why risk it? Fans are much better now but there are still a bunch of ****** at football. And setting on an innocent Leicester fan wouldn’t be out of the question.

And above all else, expect to lose. Then if we don’t it’s a bonus.

Friday Night kicks offs are a bit shit mate. Sorry to have to tell you that!

You’ll be fine in a City shirt all day if you wish. You’re not going to the war zone some may have you believe.

A football shirt will keep you out of trouble more than what most blokes wear to football. You might get some ribbing from the Mancs (are they really Mancs?) but as a lone Thai wearing colours you’ll be left well alone.

Enjoy your day and let’s hope you finally get to see us win!

  • don't wash on the days leading up to the game
  • bring a flask full of hot tea
  • bring a nice blanket in case it gets a bit chilly
  • bring headphones so you can listen to the BBC Radio Leicester commentary at the same as watching the match live
  • make sure nobody around you is enjoying themselves; and if they are, report them to a steward immediately
  • request a seat on the back row and insist that everybody in front of you sits down
  • hire a bus to transport yourself to the game and fill it with likeminded individuals so you don't feel out of place

There’s no Man United fans in Manchester City Centre anyways, they’ll all be getting the trains in from London or the airport coming from Belfast (BANTERRR!!!) So you’ll be fine.

Enjoy! Old Trafford is class.

Should be fine as there’s never much trouble on the first day & you won’t get trouble on the whole if you don’t ask for it. Go to the pub if you’re that sort- Manchester cricket ground is good apparently. Or if you don’t feel comfortable go walk around the ground & go straight in when gates open an hour and a half before K.O. Like someone said above once you’re there everyone wants the same thing- just clap if you don’t know the words to the chants or most of them are easy to pick up. Enjoy it, old Trafford is a fantastic ground :schmike:
