Overall we were encouragingly decent. Lots of positives. The only negative notes would be Amartey, and I thought Iheanacho had a disappointing game. We need better final balls also. Bit of a missed opportunity really.

Decent performance hope that’s morgans last game for us in the league he really shouldn’t be starting when we have potentially 3 better options now. He’s just not comfortable enough on the ball for the way puel wants us to play

I’m not as sure as a lot of people seem to be. I genuinely don’t know whether we are gonna be perfectly ok this season, or crash and burn.

I’m very undecided on this.

It's why i was really hoping we'd get a quality wide man into the squad. Just makes the difference in tight games to know you have enough quality in forward areas to make the difference.

The start of our season is crucial, simply because the crowd will turn on Puel if we're struggling after 4-5 games.

As predicted, approach play was good, we just not good enough at created clear cut chances.

Let.down by the ref, some poor substitutions, we look a solid mid table team

*Before we've seen Mad and Vardy share the field.

Don't get seduced with that so called possession. Mourinho took Puel for a mug tonight and let us have the ball and we created virtually bugger all. Iheanacho not a patch on Vardy when the matches get serious. Would like to have seen Maddison stay on and Nacho off but there you go.

Wtf do people watch? We TOOK the fuching ball over and over from Man u. You seriously think Mourinho wanted to watch us pick his boys pockets at home the entire first half? Come off it.

How bad are Man U though with that amount of quality on the pitch? I wouldn’t be happy with that if I was a Man U fan.

Thought we played well just lacked the quality in the final third. Maddison looks quality.

Played really well. Carragher reckons we didn't deserve anything anyway because we didn't create anything? Man Utd certainly created no more than us lol I'm happy despite the result that i've just watched the new Leicester outplay Man Utd at Old Trafford

Carragher is a twat sorry but he is. Only thing we didnt get was at least a draw. I really hate having to listen to that scouse dull, boring idiot. We were denied two stonewall pens, bet he didnt mention those.

Might not have won but we were the better team by far. We look fantastic passing the ball around. Great link up play all over the park. Very promising for the season ahead. One moment of madness from amartey.

Utd dont look any better than last season. They wont win the title thats for sure.

Sure... We had 4 clear chances and only converted 1 of them. Even according to xG stats we should have won.

Shoulda woulda coulda.

Didnt take our chances. Weren’t clinical enough. We had more possession too. But that doesn’t win games. Goals do.

Not world class but I think Bailly is a really good centre back. I don’t wanna lose Harry but if a deal happened whereby we got Bailly plus cash I wouldn’t be too upset.

Well Pogba just won the World Cup I think that would be a good starting point

The guy is seriously one of the most overrated players ever. He hasn't exactly set the Premier League alight has he? Apart from him, who else would you include?

If you honestly believe Jose out managed Puel tonight I’m sorry but you haven’t a clue. We out played them for long periods. They created very little and the shaw goal was so fortunate because his first touch landed unintentionally in a good place.

"Didn't take our chances" wasn't the complaint mate. The complaint was that we created no chances, and we clearly did.

We looked alot like the Fulham side that came up under Tigana.

Really neat and tidy and pretty approach play but lacking in the final 3rd.

Comfortably mid table but nothing more.

If we play like that for the season and finish between 7th and 11th, personally i’d be pretty happy.  I doubt the owners would though so Puel will be gone by Christmas.

Need to find a way to get iheanacho vardy madisson and gray all in one side. Iheanacho is better as a support striker can’t lead the line by himself

Iheanacho should be on the bench

Thing about Iheanacho thats holding him back is he hasn't got the agression like vardy to chase the ball.

Also He was out muscled for too easily

Good performance!  Unlucky not to take at least a point tonight.

Dominated and controlled large parts of the game and looked much more composed on the ball and far more threatening than last season.  New players made a positive start, Maddison will make a huge difference at #10, we looked less dangerous when he was dragged.  Ricardo played well.

De Gea proved his class again and was the saviour for Utd, that says a lot about the City performance!

Lots of positives to take with a couple of players still to come in to make our strongest 11.

Not sure that Silva is the man in CM too many stray passes again today for my liking, would like to see us bring in some genuine class in this area in Jan and I think we'll be close to a great side.

We should be excited for the season ahead...

Really impressed with Gray and Chilwell tonight - looked really positive on the ball, and Gray's defensive work-rate was excellent. Here's hoping he keeps that up.

Amartey really looked poor. Worrying if we've frozen Simpson out and Pereira isn't able to play for whatever reason. Hopefully just a bad game and not a sign of things to come.

Didn't think Silva played that well, gave the ball away too often for my liking considering how low-risk his playstyle is - Iborra looked noticeably better when he came on, albeit late in the game against a tiring united midfield.

Disappointed in Ihenacho tbh, whilst we didn't exactly create tons of chances for him, he was seriously anonymous tonight - we saw more of Vardy in the last 20 minutes than the whole 90 of Kelechi.

Maddison looks like a real threat. To quote my good lady (a gooner who had never seen him play prior to tonight) after about 20 minutes: "He looks like the player Jack Wilshere should have been".

One of the toughest fixtures this season thought we dominated for large periods at Old Trafford and played some decent football few tweaks and we’ll do very well this season!

Posted (edited)

A lot of slating united in here saying they won’t be this and they won’t be that. I actually think they’ll do well this season but we will be challenging the top 6 massively. We were really really good tonight. It’s so promising. If we play like that all season we won’t just be challenging Europa league but top 4.

Saying United aren’t going to be anywhere near anything season (they will be) does such a disservice to the lads. We are on the brink of cracking it and I don’t think that should be over looked through bitterness of an undeserved loss and a poor referee.

Was the same for quite a few of our games towards end of last season, xG gets inflated when you're chasing the game for 90 mins against a team that's parked the bus.

Carragher had it right in the fact that Utd never looked troubled and we never really looked like scoring. As nice as it is to see us play some pretty football, we looked a bit toothless and ultimately you don't win games just playing nice football 30 yards out. Now today that's as much a reflection of Man Utd as us - at home, under Mourinho they are always going to look solid and be tough to break down even if he wants more defenders. We'll see how we do against the lesser sides. It's encouraging to see us playing with such confidence, there's a lot of potential in this side and we can have a good season. It's a building process for us.

They also created little...We played good in away game at the most demanding stadium. To still a top

4 Team, filled with Mord Talent than we have. We Were at time the better moving team, but Lacked in

the final 3rd...They got their penalty we Were denied ou/ Nachos  clear cut penalty....we deserved a draw.

Puels style looks like it has a promising future, and tonight until next week thats all I care about.

Those who want to find the negative....I aint bovvvverreed, I aint fking bovered !! its the 1st game.

Stupid Sky could only, follow the manutd story....poor pathetic TV and reporting....
