People can't be arsed with us qualifying for the Europa League so I can only imagine the outrage on here if we ended up in a European competition below that level lol

I am actually against this, mind.

Absolutely fine if it's only contested by teams from nations that invariably have no chance of qualifying for the group stages of any European competition, and if the prize is direct access to the group stage of the Europa, that is good for the developing leagues. I would expect Leicester City to reject any invitation to take part in this competition, I don't think the big leagues should have any part in it.

Reducing the number of teams in the Europa League will mean it's less of a burden to the teams in it and make it a competition that teams don't want to get out of, as soon as possible. For that reason, it's a good idea.

Bring back the Cup Winner's Cup. But run it so participants of other European competitions can participate (get rid of most of the minnows first round (round of 32 can be in August, maybe even get round of 16 finished before CL starts, do quarterfinals in Dec-Jan), giving clubs a chance of a European Double. If you don't want home-and-away creating too many ties, let the quarters and finals be single-matches played in North America and Asia (then they can have their competitive matches everyone is so hot for).

This would remove cup-winners from EL, making it a more rational competition.

It's just a money spinner.

If the big 5 leagues aren't part of it and it makes the Europa more competitive then that's ok but otherwise it's a fvcking waste of time.
