I'd be surprised if he's still with us next season but holding him for this one is still very good business. 

 

Would have been a disaster if he left last month.

I doubt it, Leicester held all the cards. Maguire didn't have a lot of bargaining power in the negotiations as he was already on a long term contract for relative average wages. I'm sure we have been fair with Maguire but Leicester will have dictated the terms.

Positive news, he could have said no which would have flagged everyone to the fact he wanted out so for the moment he is happy enough here and happy with the direction of the club.

These contract extensions have set us up to potentially have the players here for a long time. Let’s hope our performances match the players ambition. We need to perform well and be in the top half of the table (6/7/8 placed finishes) to keep hold of these players.

So that's Ndidi, Vardy, Kasper and Maguire all on new contracts plus Ghezzal, Soyuncu and Benkovic all signed since we supposedly had no room for increasing wages. Slimani, Musa and Ulloa must have been on horrific wages.

Simpson, Morgan, Fuchs, elder, Benalouane and Okazaki are all out of contract this summer. That’s close to £200k p/w wages + Slimani, king possible silva or Iborra moving on, that may be where the money is coming from.
