Under Claude Puel, nine players have been sent off in 33 matches

Poor decision making from the players is the players issues.

Failure to enforce the necessary standards expected is down to the manager.

Its hard enough to win in the PL with 11, let alone 10.

Tbh most, if not all, are idiotic decisions by players. Morgan constantly diving into Richardson and Maddison diving while on a booking are both stupid.

True, but it doesn't matter.  The manager is not absolved because of player stupidity unless it is an isolated incident.  This keeps happening.  The culture needs to change and that comes from the manager.

If we were struggling at the bottom of the league and losing every week, you cannot excuse the manager because he isn't on the pitch.  Just as when we are doing well, the manager deserves credit.

Oh no, definitely I agree. Trying not to make comparisons but under Ranieri and Pearson we rarely picked up this volume of red cards.

I think we've been unlucky with a few, and complacent with a few.

Can't see how Poohell can be blamed for maddison's or vardys.  The only one I can think of was Wes Morgan's last own, where it was obvious he was going to get sent off.

Individually Puel obviously can’t be blamed for an individual action on a pitch but by that same logic no manager in the history of football has been responsible for something that’s happened.

Ive seen a few posts detailing the sending offs. A few dives, more often than not second yellows... surely a manager who commanded the respect of the players would tear the first idiot who gets sent off for diving a new arsehole and no one else does it.

Well Maddison certainly is ...    been watching that cheating fooker Dele Alli too much.

Hope he really has learnt a lesson ...   thicko !!

It’s gonna be fun watching that pair when we play spurs. The refs either gonna shit himself or let every Ali dive go and send Maddison off

Ndidis dive was last season. Even if Puel did tear into the players for it, Maddison wasn't here to see it.

What?

Ndidi - Dived

Maddison - Dive

Vardy vs Wolves was unforgivable considering he had an easy 5 yard pass he should have made just before he took a heavy touch.

Amartey vs United was just lazy + the fact he’d just come on.

The two Wes Morgan’s were poor from the captain.

i just don’t see how people can seriously blame puel for these incidents? Maybe Wes vs Everton as he could have taken him off but that’s it.

Because it fits the agenda.

Anything good that's been done under Puel is 'the players ignoring tactics and playing themselves', and everything bad is on Puel. There's no in-between.

It will be like a re-run of Bambi on Ice, the front row of the Cop will be given scorecards to give their ajudication on artistic impression and originality.

Nonsense.

I am not in the Puel out camp, I don't want him sacked, but discipline is the responsibility of the manager.

You're actually fitting this thread to suit your own agenda about FT posters by ignoring what has actually been written.

So do you think that someone who has been here for about 5 months now wouldn’t have realised what would and wouldn’t be acceptable to the manager? If so, I would suggest I’ve nailed the issue.

I don't think Puel's training schedule includes a "How to con the ref without him spotting it" or a "How not to dive" session. They probably look at tactics, playing with a football and keeping fit.

Maybe after a series of red cards there might be a chat with the team about general discipline but isn't that the Captain's job on the field? Keeping your players in tact and ensuring they're not making stupid fouls.

That could explain it lol

Ahh yes the captain who has been sent off twice this season.

Puel getting some unwarranted stick in this thread. The way some are talking, anyone might think we are Leeds United under Don Revie. Yes he should read the riot act somewhat to ensure we cut out the stupidity that has afflicted us but we aren't an institutionally dirty or cynical team

It's the responsibility of both the players and the manager, nobody should be absolved of blame in these circumstances. Personally, I think we've been on the receiving end of some shit decisions. I could probably argue half of the reds. With that in mind, I'm not going to go too over the top at either the players or manager. But it can't be ignored either, the players need to look at themselves and their decision making and the manager needs to make it clear that it cannot continue.

I know people are quick to blame Puel and make out that it's because he's not bollocking players. But Man U have a worse disciplinary record this season than us across all comps, and that's in less games. Mourinho isn't shy of slating players or calling them out. Sometimes there is more to it than the manager just needing to bollock people.

The team under Puel have been ill-disciplined rather than dirty, especially when you breakdown the sending offs. The responsibility lies with both the players and the manager. Neither any one of the two is more or less responsible than the other.

It's happening too often for questions not to be asked, but I think we've been treated quite harshly a well. Some of them have been as soft as you'll see sending off wise. We're far from a dirty team, 21 yellows is pretty average to be honest. So it comes down to poor decision making from players, they've continued to do that, so the manager needs to be trying to stamp it out.

Further to that, take Morgan out of the equation and we're a very young team. Our sending offs have usually been the result of naivety or rashness, rather than dirty or aggressive play and much of that comes down to inexperience and the eagerness of youth.

I don’t be think you can blame Puel for the reds, apart from maybe Morgans but he does need to have a word in the dressing room and stamp out the stupid decision making. No way Maddison should come straight back in the team at the weekend. Players need to have consequence for their bad decisions.

Please give me a couple of points to why you 'cant stand a man' you have never met? I feel you are treating him very harshly more like.

For making me fall out of love with the team I adore. Tell me truthfully if you're looking forward to going down on Saturday because I really can't be arsed to waste another Saturday watching turgid toilet football. Transition my hairy arse
