So Howe and Bournemouth have somehow conspired to finish below Newcastle.

I don’t care what miracles he’s performed to get them/keep them there... the blokes spent a fortune on crap and can’t organise a defence, to be honest I’m completely with their fans on the criticism... I’m sure the media will stick with Eddie though!

In the early days he clearly did a wonderful job for them, you can't take that away from him. I do agree though that he's brought some fairly average players and not kicked on with them and he's been backed with a lot more funds than say Burnley who did manage to get into Europe last season and are probably on about a par with Watford who have got to a cup final this.

I think their fans need to be careful with what they wish for though. Howe reminds me a lot of Alan Curbishley who did a truly amazing job with Charlton Athletic and turned them into a consistent middle of the road Premier League team. But as soon as he left, they imploded and were relegated. Or look at ourselves when MON left (though of course this was not from the fans wanting him to leave). So perhaps they are under-performing, but it's also possible that they have been over-performing for years and could easily be relegated at any time. Tough to say.

What happened to goal of the season being a run down of the monthly winners? Half of them were scored in April.

Both classic examples of short memories people have and I constantly notice this with annual award ceremonies, in sport, music, films, that the winners and even nominees are invariably from the last few months. It's sad really.

Depends on his definition of 'best'. Best number of points, best PL teams (arguable), but nothing, ever, will 'best' the drama, emotion, ultimate underdog story and capturing of the imagination of the public the world over than 2015/16.

The only way you could top our title-winning season is for a newly-promoted team to win it at the first time of asking, in best Kaiserslautern fashion.

What's worse is it hasn't even been a great season.

Two teams that have spent about a billion each have managed to amass a ridiculous amount of points. And what on paper looks like a really tight, amazing title race was in reality never exciting at all. We all expected Man City to win their remaining fixtures and they did.

Shearer complimentary about us. Identified where we pressed well and were aggressive. I was hoping they'd do more on Maguire's lack of a football brain lol

(can't find the thread for this season's MOTD!)

I still can't understand how Liverpool's 3rd goal wasn't offside. It's utterly baffling.

"Salah played no active role"... that the same Salah who the defender was trying to prevent getting on the end of the cross with his botched clearance? lol

Is this down to Mike Riley? He shouldn't be within a million miles of anything to do with football. A scab on the game that needs picking and flicking. (It may not be anything to do with him, but I really don't like him)

According to commentary Apparently Salah has scored in 8 consecutive games, I’m assuming that includes European games and not just premier league

Yes - it's 5 in pl. (I was starting to worry for JV's record, but it's a long way to go)

Idk who made that rule but it's beyond daft when you have the same organisation of officials ruling goals out for offside on the basis of players not getting involved in the action but supposedly putting off goalkeepers.  This is far more obvious interference.

Similar to that Mbappe goal last week, something not right.
