There are some really load of Bol***** articles about this one really has to be joke of the week from a Nigerian website

Ndidi’s Pal Maguire to serve notice to the club on his desire to leave I nearly worried til I read more what a load of Cockwomble Bull?!!

https://footballlive.ng/ndidis-leicester-pal-gives-club-quit-notice/

Questions?

1) if you think it is cockwomble bull, why start a new thread ..... this was already on the dedicated maguire thread at the weekend

2j I would suggest that most people on here think Harry will leave in the summer if a club is prepared to pay the fee

Maguire will definitely go this summer,

him signing a new contact simply gaurenteed us the fee we will want with a gentleman’s agreement on letting him leave,

and benkovic and soyunca were brought with this in mind and Morgan being released in the summer,

who will either retire or join forest,

according to my brother in law who knows him

I think if he thought there was something worth staying for then he would.  But then I would think the senior players would be aware of what was going on re the future. the problem he has is that the clubs which are guaranteed to be champions league teams aren’t so obvious if you take out lpool and Man City - would he interest either and would either pay the price we want ??

Maguire very may well want to go, but the idea of submitting a transfer request 4 months before the window opens is asinine. Will be interesting to see if he's as hot a property as he was last summer.

This sounds a feasible summary.  I would not disagree with any of this. What's more, I would be happy to have Evans/Benkovic /Soyuncu/Johnson as out CB options next season.  The Maguire fee could then be used to buy a forward and a creative midfielder.  LCFC will survive.

He's been poor this season to be honest. I like his character and do think he's a good player but for the right money I would be adverse to us selling amd strengthening the team

I dont think he will go because a club wont pay the money we think he is worth. I'd be staggered if anybody offered £40m or more for him.

I agree, who realistically will sign him?

The assumption is Utd will come in for him because they've been linked before. It's the only club really, Man City and Chelsea won't, nor would Liverpool. Spurs wouldn't pay even £40m and Arsenal are a funny one, the transfer policy of them goes from the sublime to the ridiculous. What even is their plans now?

Utd will be tempted to go for Alderweild for just £25m, he's nearing 30 but it's a good bit of business to go with Lindelof and Bailly. Worrying they've given Phil Jones a new deal mind you.

He'll have a lot of suitors, the East can join attacks is brilliant and he's improving defensively too.

Criminally slow, gets caught of out position a lot and for his prowess in the air he has been at fault for a series of set piece goals this season. The time to get a proper price for him was after Slabhead Mania, I think he'll be staying here.

Wonder if Puel will drop him preparing/planning “for the future” afterall he did it for that reason and seemingly that reason only to a key player who has recently signing a contract and seems to be going no where...

Probably one of our better first halves this season.

Also we didnt concede in the first 10 minutes :giggle:

That has very little to do with Demarai Gray though, theres an argument had Vardy been on he'd have received the early through balls from Tielemans and we'd have got our noses in front.

He willl go to Manchester United.

I think so too.

Let's hope Benkovic can make the step up. Not convinced about Soyuncu at all so perhaps we'll have to sign another CB for cover or bring through either Knight, Moore or Hughes?

Man Utd are a joke. A lot of hype at the moment but if they want to compete with Man City/Liverpool they should be signing someone like Koulibaly not Harry Maguire.

Jonny Evans is the best defender at the club in my opinion. Harry is far too error prone for my liking.

If we have to fund transfers via player sales this year due to the new training ground, then i’d rather lose Harry over Pereira/Chilwell. Not just for the fee we’ll receive but also because of the replacements we already have at the club.

My only concern is that Benkovic has always picked up niggles in his career and so has Evans. I’ll be shocked if we can rely on them to play week in week out. Might need 5 CB options.

Yeah and that would be a fair argument to make.  I was being a little facetious

I dont particularly defend the decision to drop Vardy, definitely not tactically anyway, it was possibly disciplinary in nature, but thats only speculation

But  I will say that we looked much more fluid on Sunday, which is what we've all wanted.  Could be down to Tielemans, probably is imo, because we still looked good when Vardy was on (plus had someone who could finish)

There could be an argument made that moving forward the starting line up is more in keeping with a philosophy of play and it is promising, however, i admit, its not a strong enough argument to drop Vardy atm for the practical purpose of nobody else is too good at putting it in the net (then again, Vardy hasnt been tip top this season either)

Need to get out of our head that Vardy is undroppable though.  Puel is well within his rights to try something else, especially as Vardy isnt finishing as much as usual and doubly especially if there was anything to that Knob Head story

I keep reading that he's overrated.  I think he is underrated by you guys.

You keep listing his faults but who would you swap him for?  Van Dyk? well maybe.  After that, I dunno.  The Spurs pair have got five years on him and can't do what Harry can do with the ball at his feet.  After that, there are not many defenders in the top six or otherwise that I would swap him for.

I think against United he was our most composed attacking player.  He can thread a pass.  He is young for a centre half, forwards bounce off him and he has huge potential to improve.

Despite what the tedious glass-half-empty brigade think, I think we are very lucky to have him.
