Maguire to Man Utd / Man City

Recommended Posts

Important to remember that the HG quota aspect is a significant one for Man City.

In terms of Harry going? Undecided, but can see the logic at a significant fee.

yes - all the top six sides sell their best players each year .............

tell me a club this has worked for (and don’t say spurs as they had to sell bale and Walker who both wanted to leave).

If harry asks asks to leave then I accept that and Man City have to pay 75/80 million (remember we owe hull 15%)

but if he is content to stay and and leaves it up to us to decide then we should stick

Just this summer arsenal have lost Ramsey to Juventus and Chelsea have all but lost Hazard to Real Madrid. There will be more. It’s about you reinvest and move on.

Prefer selling him to man city tbh over utd.  Suits their style of play and not selling to a potential rival. No loan players back from man city as we can use our money to buy a player who is ours and we can develop for our benefit.

Steady on.

Cash out and invest wisely. Evans and Benko will be fine. If he wants to go, then go.  Just take either of the Manchester Clubs' pants down and shaft.

Sorry probably should have been clearer. Not for one minute do I think we will get near them if they strengthen well this summer. They will be targeting domestic cups next season and so will we. City could beat us in a one off game without HM but potentially he might be the difference in a cup game if he is playing for utd.

Except Ramsey has walked away on a free.

No worries, mate. I do think that they'll be "weak" the next two seasons as they have a herculean task (off-loading the dross, restructuring the club with the addition of a DoF) before them and for me OGS isn't the man to lead them forward. They'll need more than 2 or 3 transfer windows to rebuild and are not going to challenge for the title for quite a long time. It can also mean that their place in the top 6 will be indeed in danger next season. In that sense us, Wolves and Everton could manage to catch them.

But I doubt that we can think of them as potential rivals. Not with their history and financial power.

Disturbing number of people seem happy for Harry to be sold. To break into the top 6 you keep your best players and add to them. Or you become Southampton.

We need money to buy a player like Tielemans and strengthen the areas where we're lacking. Out of all our best players, Maguire is the only one we can afford to lose.

Mods can you please close this thread. Its 22 pages of circles.

We need to sell to buy.

If we sell our best player what chance have we.

We'll never be a big club.

We have cover for Harry.

All we know from this thread is people don't agree. Some think we are megga rich some say we are not.

So it would be impossible to sell a player for more than he's worth, and replace him with one or more players in positions where you need to strengthen, players who end up with being a lot better than their price would suggest?

Not only would you seem to imply it's not possible that this could happen, but apparantly the only thing that could happen is that we end up like Southampton.

It's 'stands to reason' nonsense is what it is.

Strong position in terms of our position in this market. A host of huge clubs will be after Maguire and to be able to charge the same as Southampton did for Van Dijk is excellent business. Defensively, our recruitment has generally been good in that department since coming up to the Premiership and nurtured the right players to come through. If selling Maguire means that we can comfortably afford Tielemans and another younger centre back/striker, then it makes sense.

Hull City get 15% of any profit we make on selling Maguire, if we were to get £75m, they would get £9m from the £58m we would make.

We bought him for £17m from a relegated side and they managed to insert a 15% sell on clause. Annoying.

Would not be surprised to see us get Jarrod Bowen for a modest fee for this to happen as well.

Could be a very good summer for Hull just from us, £9m for Maguire deal and then £15-20m for Bowen, could be the difference between mid table mediocrity again or pushing for the playoffs

Although the owner is a bit of a tool so probably wouldn’t get to use any of it anyway
