There is something there sure, but how long can we keep going with him when his contributions are so low? He has been in the England set up for a long time as well but it doesn't seem like he is kicking onto the next level. He still seems like a deer in headlights when he pushes forward.

He has had many chances and we still persevere with him. Which i don't mind as Chilwell has only gotten better by playing games. Problem Gray has got is he hasn't cemented his first team spot, when Albrighton returns he goes straight into the team imo. Still believe he is one of our best players.

I like Gray and i hope he can progress cause if he becomes more clinical then that pushes him into the England seniors which will benefit him even more

Yes you can say that his contributions are low and hes not providing what we all expected of him after a few seasons of wait, we are getting impatient and rightfully so but look at it this way as a team overall.. We are winning games with him involved and climbing,  Lets see it as his contributions to winning games and not individual. he is frightening on the ball and quick and he is trying hard. I'm prepared to give him all the time he needs.

If he doesn't provide, well.. we will get more than we paid for when the time eventually comes.

He has been treated unfairly on here by some for being "lazy" or having "a bad attitude" but he has been one of our hardest working players recently and his attitude seems nothing other than good.  I still hope he comes good here but we will see.

That's all well and good saying you will give him all the time he needs but he wont be afforded that luxury. I can see he is working hard but that only takes you so far. Albrighton works just as hard if not harder but he contributes more in the attacking aspect (not a whole lot more but more none the less)

Im quite happy to see Gray on the pitch, as i mentioned before he will only get better the more settled into the team he gets like Chilwell. I just fear that if he doesn't finally grab his chance then he will be down the pecking order. Although i have no doubt Ghezzal will still be behind Gray as he is a player i just dont get.

I'm a bit critic of DG as I think his development has stalled at best, and arguably stagnated at worse. The technical ability has always been there, but using that in a consistent way that influences a game has barely come to the fore. I've generally lost patience, but I'd like to hear the pro DG folk tell me what would be a measure of his progress? More assists, more goals, more step overs? He has Brendan on his side for now, so what does he need to show to warrant us persevering?

I've always defended Gray because he has good physical abilities and has all the ingredients to be a top player but the pivot point has tipped for me. I certainly wouldn't write him off but if we had £25m offered for him like in the past I would sell at that price and reinvest with another player.

We could buy Dan James and Bradaric for a little over 25m I imagine. Sorts out the backup left back and Gray replacement in one.

No club with any sense is going to pay that much for a player with such a low goals/assists output. Get real

Great drag back and pass to Ricardo yesterday holding up two defenders to release him to put that peach through to Vardy.

I just think he is in need of a simple brain transfer. Decision inefficiency making is world class. A real nightmare to watch. Like watching the movie "Misery" over and over again. The spot in the movie where Kathy Bates cracks James Caan's legs. Cringe time. That is what it is like watching Gray decide to pass or shoot. Often completely the wrong decision. Maybe he should get some blood pressure tablets prescribed.

Becausethe blood just rushes to his head.

Lets give Brendan some time to try to sort the lad out. Demi hasn't really had consistent game time up til this season, when we know that Puel wasn't really communicating well with most of the squad. I think he is working harder this season and like Barnes, he could catch fire at any time, especially now that we have a successful philosophy and shape.

For me, playing as an inverted winger has contributed to the stifling of his game, and I think Rogers can might be hoping the switch will help. Some wingers (like Riyad) are capable on the 'wrong side', others not so much.

Give him a year, then decide.

Demarai Gray,is a good PL footballer who will improve every season he plays...

Too many posters, who have proved every season they themselves can't pick a player, amusingly are the ones ,trying to pull him down....

He needs a team who concentrates on attack, and forward movement....DG is the player we will be looking for next season if we decide to release him!!!

There is nothing to sort out, He makes decent runs forward, challenges the defense and asks questions of them, on another day he could of scored twice but that wasn't the case on Saturday. Hes contributing to a winning formula right now and to say that hes not good enough... is a joke really. He plays his heart out every game this season. I think hes improved this season and every player is different, Hes on the verge of becoming brilliant and hes exciting to watch, what more do you want right now. The fact hes 22 scares me so enjoy him while we have him.

He's one of those that I would be reluctant to sell right now in case he did live up to his potential somewhere else.  He has not consistently performed for us but has shown glimpses or real quality.  I know some will say he has had enough time already but I would like to see him given a little longer under a new manager and in an improving team.  If in twelve months time he has shown no improvement it might be best to move on.

One thing I would like to highlight is his effort and tracking back.  He has been treated unfairly on here by some for being "lazy" or having "a bad attitude" but he has been one of our hardest working players recently and his attitude seems nothing other than good.  I still hope he comes good here but we will see.  X

People just decide players like Gray have a bad attitude without even watching them. They see the flash Instagram posts and fancy cars, partner that with a young attacking prospect and some fans genuinely just think he has a bad attitude. You see it all the time, Grealish, Gray two off the top of my head

Isn't that that problem though, that these "other days" fail to appear far to often. That poor crosses and poor finishes are the norm rather than the exception. The lad clearly has talent, but he's as frustrating as hell as you never see much improvement or signs that he's harnessing his talents.

I think you are just whining for the sake of whining really. I'm not sure you see what he actually contributes because i see a whole lot to his game. As I said before hes on the verge and that's why they play him. You got to just keep throwing him in and giving him time to improve, and bare the pain phase. even if it takes another season it don't matter to us... In the end we are going to get value if we end up selling, hes worth way more than what we paid for so.... happy times either way..

Yeah I'm sure that's it. lol

The old Andy King argument trotted out again.

Better decision making and finishing ability and he can be as good as sterling.

I see a lot of sterling in him and a bit of refinement and composure to his game - he can just be as good.

Unfortunately imo I think Dimi will be one of them players who throughout his whole career will be remembered as a player who had a lot of potential.

Personally if we could receive £25m for him in the summer aswell as selling Ghezzal I would, then bring in Dan James & Jarrod Bowen.

Seems to be growing in confidence lately and certainly had a pretty good game against Huddersfield. His workrate (both offensive and defensive) definitely seems to have gone up. Rodgers could be the manager Gray needed to really kick on. Still not as excited about him as I am with Barnes/Maddison, but replacing him with some of the names mentioned would be a risk and may go disastrously, which would leave us with Ghezzal as first choice on the right.

Probably shouldn't underestimate the value of team cohesion, though. Particularly so with the young players; Maddison/Gray/Chilwell are all close to each other and if we can keep them together they will further support each others' development.

It's been said in previous years, but I'd give him one more season to impress and go from there. Something feels different under Rodgers and I'm optimistic for Gray.
