martyn Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Good session. Looks the kind of pitch where wickets could fall in clusters. Judging by the spin on offer, and variable bounce already, we absolutely need to get a minimum 100 lead. Batting last here will be very very difficult.
AKCJ Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Decent sesh that. Burns looked good in the hour or so I saw before Lunch. Probably better than Roy. If these two can get 50s then convert them into 60s or 70s then it'll put us in a great position. Think the hour after lunch will decide how this test ends up.
walkerleeds Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 This is just quality stuff isn't it lads? Great atmosphere, great battles going on. Absolutely love The Ashes.
Crinklyfox Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 It's slow going at the moment but Australia only have four bowlers so wearing them down now should pay dividends in the evening session when the ball will be 50 overs old.
TheSomersetFox Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Smith and Siddle's partnership must've got in to their heads yesterday. Reminded them how to bat in tests again. This has been some top grafting so far. Hopefully I've not put the mockers on
yorkie1999 Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Whoever said 280 about par for this ground wasn’t far off

surrifox Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 how is that allowed- change the ball because you don't like bowling with it ?

David Guiza Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Need a big innings from Stoke/Bairstow if we're to take a reasonable first innings lead. Burns has done very well, but doesn't look like sticking around too much longer (though I hope he does!).

Absolute bullshit. Aussies this ball is shite can we have another one? Umpires yeah have this one it swings like a fckin boomerang.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Big fan of Buttler but don't why he is coming in ahead of Stokes and Bairstow.
Brainy Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Is it a new new ball or an old new ball? And as if they get another after the usual 80 over mark so says the BBC?
yorkie1999 Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 This could be a struggle without Anderson in the 2nd innings.

Yes it's an old new ball or a new old ball from last years stock of Dukes which apparently still swing even when old. Yes they will still get a new ball at 80 overs.
Lionator Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Need Burns to push on to 150+ and somebody else to get above 50. If we can get close to 350-400 then the pressure is on Australia.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Have to be looking at 400+ from this position, scoreboard pressure can do strange things.
UniFox21 Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Any reason Bairstow is in at a late bat when he's an opener for the ODI?

Gives him more time to recuperate after a day in the field. Man this Edgbaston crowd really got riled up by those Paine comments. Sounds lairy as fvck on the radio.

fazzyfox Posted 2 August 2019 Posted 2 August 2019 Just heard on Talk Sport that a fan made a fortune selling small sheets of Sandpaper to fans for mockery Purposes in the cricket. Next time City play Deli Alli's Spurs I'll be there bright and early with boxes of tissues!
