Sad news? This stuff is entirely self inflicted.

Wigan Athletic's last account showed they their entire turnover was £11.5m, and spent £17.5m on salaries and wages. Whilst not being the only club to be paying more than 100% of their turnover on wages (Reading is what, 225%??) it's utterly outrageous, irresponsible and unsustainable spending. How else did they expect this to end without a sugar daddy to sign the cheques every week?

I'm so sick of clubs running at such horrific, consistent losses and then everyone being shocked and sad for them when they go into administration.

So you have zero empathy for the players, staff and (most importantly) the fans?

The points deduction will either be after the season is done (and it won't be enough to relegate them) or it'll be next season or something. No way will they deduct them enough points to automatically relegate them this season.

Preston's game tonight is their 5000th football league game! First club to get there. Playing Derby as well who I believe are a fellow founding member of the football league.

Derby's run-in sees them play 7th, 5th, 1st, 2nd, 6th and 3rd in the next six games.

The Wigan owners had been in charge for a month.

The 'Fit and Proper' director/owner test should be seriously scrutinised and strengthened up, after this.

They'd only just gotten new owners around a month ago. Obviously didn't actually have the finances.

So much for that 'fit and proper' person's test that EFL carry out.

Seen a few of these circling twitter.

Never understood this attitude. Why would you want rid of your local/fierce rivals and have no rivals or no game to look forward to?

Jude Bellingham is set to leave for Dortmund.

The £20 million fee apparently mentioned will do Birmingham the world of good, after their previous financial troubles, but slightly surprised they didn't hold out a bit more.

Doesn't sound like it's the case here.

Very strong rumours about the new club owner whose linked to casinos and gambling make a huge bet on Wigan to be relegated.

I mean, I know I'm probably in a minority, but I would genuinely revel in the beauty of life if Forest got wound up and ceased to exist - their whole history wiped out and their greasy short arse Paco Rabanne All Bar One dad fans all crying into their v necks. Getting emotional even contemplating it.

Is there anything more cringe in football than the Brian Clough Trophy?

Players always looks awkward having to parade it round as well imagine having to pretend to care about it
