His contract may be up in the summer, but I would have thought he would want to stay now he is a regular starter and the club may feel he has done enough recently, to extend. Fans seem to have a blind spot with Amartey in the same way as they do with Mendy, both have been here near on 7 seasons under 4 different managers and never established themselves as 1st choice unless the squad has be disrupted by injury. Both nice lads, solid enough players but if you want to challenge for the top 8 or 6 not good enough. In Amartey time we have brought, Maguire, Benkovic, Soyuncu, Evans, Fofana, Vestergaard and Faes, that 7 CB, tell you what the club thinks of Amartey, his just a squad player. 7
fox_up_north Posted 28 December 2022 Posted 28 December 2022 (edited) I'm sure he'll be great against Stoke's forwards, next year. Edited 28 December 2022 by fox_up_north 1

Time will tell if the recruitment team can bring in upgrades to improve the team but likes of Mendy and Amartey have had enough time and we know they can’t take us where we want to go. 2

Yeah no one is gonna offer him more than us and the sad situation is we need him now more than ever so his agent will have rudkins pants down.

I’m sure we can do better for less, he shouldn’t be hard to improve on. 1

Realist Guy In The Room Posted 28 December 2022 Posted 28 December 2022 Keane would be fantastic alongside Faes. Prime age, height, physicality, experience. Similar to when we signed Huth from Stoke. 1

Huth had always been solid but had injury issues. We are no longer bottom of the pile and we should be aiming much higher than Evertons expensive cast offs. If he’s not good enough for them who have been dreadful for years he’s certainly not good enough for us. 1

SouthStandUpperTier Posted 28 December 2022 Posted 28 December 2022 Keane turns 30 in the next couple of weeks. Still has 2½ years to run on his Everton contract and is probably on £50-100k per week. We'd deserve to be liquidated if we bought him. 4

We haven’t got the budget, so honestly retaining players like them, rather than having to buy and equally shit replacement, should in theory mean there is more money for a better player to also come in… rather than splitting the budget over two players. 1

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 28 December 2022 Posted 28 December 2022 Loan with an option to buy at relatively low cost makes absolute sense. See how he does for half a season and then make a call in the summer whether to extend. Everton get him off the wage bill for 6 months so they’re happy with that. It wasn’t that long ago I remember their fans asking why he wasn’t in the England squad. There’s a player there and, whilst he might not be first choice if Evans and Faes are fit, he’s not a bad option until the summer rather than a gamble from abroad who might take time to adapt to the Premier League. 1

True, I'd keep Amartey, but look to blooded Braybrooke rather then keep Mendy for the amount of minutes he plays.
Pliskin Posted 28 December 2022 Posted 28 December 2022 This is the kind of shit we need to sack off….. 2
CrispinLA in Texas Posted 28 December 2022 Posted 28 December 2022 Brendan seems to love Premiership experienced players......I would would rather get a player new to the EPL. It's rather like you move house to a house in the same street or area to the one your currently living in, or up ship and move abroad and start fresh. The latter one you'd get more excited about and probably work harder to make it a success
Diffco Posted 28 December 2022 Posted 28 December 2022 Practically every time he plays for Everton he has a stinker. This is Vestergaard mk 2 2

funkyrobot Posted 31 December 2022 Posted 31 December 2022 He’s not kicked on from the lad with potential we had on loan from Man U. Looks as error prone for Everton as Amartey does for us. Worrying that we are linked with him tbh.
Steve Earle Posted 31 December 2022 Posted 31 December 2022 My Everton supporting pal at the gym this morning: 'You can have him, he's absolute rubbish'. But is he less bad than Vestergard?
