Shinji heading for Spain

Unfortunately Malaga is a rather tough team for me to root for. Their presidente is a racist bastard who called Catalans “scum” and their former manager Michel is an ex-Real man who said he’d rather give RM a guard of honor than help Barcelona win the league by beating them. Also, my Grandfather had a vacation house in Malaga and never once invited me.  So their stunning riches to rags story feels like Karma to me.

Still - it’s Shinji. For his sake, I’ll pull for them.

Quite ironic really. Shinji's chant - 'Doo, doo, doo' - is based on the Black Lace track 'Do the Conga' from the 80s - one of those tracks designed for the discos of Torremolinos and the cheap Mediterranean holidays crowd (which included me). And now he's heading for the Costa Del Sol. Magnificent.

If anyone fancies organizing an 80s revival trip to Malaga to coincide with his home debut I might even fly over and join you.

We wanted to get an American cocker spaniel and had to go to Southport to look at a newly born litter. One little pup came to greet us straight away, so we thought he is a keeper so we named him Kasper. One of the other males was learning to run but kept falling over so we had him as well and called him Shinji. No need to go to Spain to see Shinji - he is alive and well and ruling the streets of Barwell (the pigeons hate him).

Oh my god I ****ing miss Shinji already. Under appreciated hero of the title win. That ****ing smile when he scored. That overhead kick too. When I get a dog I’m naming him Shinji Dogazaki. ****ing legend.

We should do something like the Anderlecht fans did for Wasyl and get a group of us to go watch him play

That's not a bad idea actually there's some cheap flights to Malaga.

I'm pleased that he's found a new home, albeit at a lower level than he's capable of playing. Good luck to our smiling friend.

I’m already in the planning stages for this, promised my son I’d take him wherever he ends up.  Good job it’s not Japan or somewhere else that would require a remortgage to get to.  I have stipulated that we can’t miss a Leicester match though and it has to be a school holiday, so the window of opportunity is restricted somewhat.  I’m sure we’ll manage it though!
